      I only wish he would've taken himself more seriously and/or really believed in & trusted his talent. We would now have an even greater body of his work to look back on & enjoy. I thought he was at his very best at his quietest moments.

    Burt had fought off Rx drug addiction deciding to live with the pain of his broken body many years ago. I think perhaps this book tour has taken its toll on him and he has been forced to take pills again. Sad to see. If you watch some of his other interviews and his "Table of Five" episode, he is a kind hearted, thoughtful, insightful, witty and funny guy. Don't judge him harshly. He's an 80 yr old man with a broken body and a broken heart - wish to hell Field would just give him the courtesy of a friendly phone call.

    • @jmeekselectric
      @jmeekselectric 8 років тому +11

      True. It looks like he's off the wagon, but he's 80 and shot his body to hell doing stunts. Search "Burt Reynolds Seamus Stunt." I'm surprised that alone didn't kill him. These were the days before TC had to "sneak" the shot from MI: 2. Today there is no way a star would be allowed to do their own stunts. Sadly he's broke too. He lived one hell of a life but he has even sold his Golden Globe to pay off Loni Anderson. I hope things are looking up.

      Burt is a great actor & he has been very blessed to be in so many wonderful movies. Sadly, in my opinion, Burt should have never married Loni Anderson. He should have stayed with Sally. To this day Burt says he blew it when he left her. You can tell by his voice he means it. Loni really ripped Burt a new one in court. She took him to the cleaners like a typical gold digger would do. Yes, she was younger & very attractive but, she always gave me the impression of a complete fake. Kind of reminds me of what Robbin Givens did to the great boxer mike Tyson. Really sad how females can play guys for money. I can only hope fate deals Loni some future bad really karma.

    I honestly have no idea what he's talking about when the lady brings up Boogie Nights.
    "If they try to do legitimate film, they're not going to be able to." What does this even mean? Does he think that the film that earned him a Golden Globe and the only Oscar nomination of his career, and many other awards isn't "legitimate film"? Does he think Paul Thomas Anderson hasn't made a slew of great films since? Does he think Julianne Moore, also nominated for an Oscar for this film, Mark Wahlberg, John C. Reilly, Don Cheadle etc have struggled since then? What IS he going on about. Being this bitter for no reason 20 years later is just nonsensical.

    Between Hadley‘s incessant laughing and bird slapping his chops very annoying I know he’s old here he’s about 80 years old and had two years to live but I find this very hard to try to sit and listen to he was obviously so depressed on the verge of tears bird had a high old time his whole life he loved Sally Fields but he cheated on everybody just one big party guy. Now he hast to face his own demons and the choices that he made he’s almost a broken man sitting here he probably is completely broken it’s a shame

    Regrets. That's what we get when we get so old we look at 25 year olds and think they look like High Schoolers. We realize it's nearer death, and we can't go back. Fear. Nobody wants to die, or be old and percieved as "old". People see right through old people, look past us. Hurts.

    It's unfortunate that he seemed to be so sad, hurt and bitter here so close to the end of his life. The interviewer is a little off here, perhaps uncomfortable with his dark, pensive mood she seems to be trying to cheer him up or balance it for the audience but the laughter is tone deaf and feels intrusive.

    ...what a terrific interview with the now deceased Burt Reynolds. Maybe there was something in the air...the water....but this was one of the most engaged interviews I've ever seen with Burt...and I've watched nearly 2 dozen...about half before he died...and the balance since then. Burt revealed more in this interview...I believe,,,because the interviewer seemed to focus on the WORK: his work in movies, appearances on talk shows, people he knew.

    He should have not been a stunt man, I'm surprised he liked it. It gave him the adrenaline but what pain.

    The quality of the questions make me ashamed to live in the uk. What film was the most fun, why didn't u star in smoky 3 etc. I know Burt made mostly shit films - hin saying he made 2 for the money I guess was a jokes- but he starred in a couple of great films and a few good ones and he knew and worked with a lot of important people. I guess his reputation is as the good looking guy who plays to the camera in shit comedies. When I was in school we had the opportunity to see Charlotte Heston in a man for all seosons in the theatre. He was in the Colby's at the time and no one wanted to see him etc. I was never a Heston fan but I remember trying to explain that he was a Hollywood legend of the type we'd never see again and that he'd been in Ben hur and planet of the apes etc.- likewise poor Burt doesn't get the respect he is due. If the only film he ever made was playing Lewis in Deliverance he'd still be a legend. - and he's a genuinely nice bloke. - why wasn't he asked serious questions about Boorman? Working with oneil in those bogdanovich pictures? Robert Aldrich? Etc. instead let's ask him did he have a laugh in the Cannonball?

    Now what an old school decent fun loving guy who made it to the top as an Actor. RIP Mr Reynolds you clearly cared about your friends very much, classy man compared to the crop of disgusting aged actors who have such an arrogance and elitist attitude.

    Wait I actually though prior to acting he was a stunt man? That would not help his football injuries..........

    Burt, followed his heart rather than his head for his movie choices. Personally, I'd much rather watch "The Cannonball Run" than "Terms of Endearment" any day.

    Video posted in December 2015, the accompanying notes state that the interview took place in London on 2 December 2016. The Grauniad strikes again.

    Overt flirting by B. R. Diminishes the professionalism of the woman interviewer. This kind of 50’s male humor would not be acceptable today.
