Skating is very hard for adult skaters. You can get hurt more easily. When I was 9 nothing ever hurt but as you get older your body feels different. I was told to relax the muscles, people can do different activities like light exercices. I do drawings at times and color them and I feel creative and better, art really relaxes people's minds. My mother colors adult books and a friend of mine paints and draws..they feel much better mentally. For aching muscles, daily massages work really well and breathing exercices are a plus..

Are these the national skating championships for Canada? Why are there so many empty seats in this arena? What has happened to Figure Skating in Canada? It used to be a big sporting event. Maybe it just is not big in Alberta. What a shame.

Yes, this event was Nationals. The weather was very cold and the venue not easily accessible according to people who went. The marketing of this event seems to have taken a back seat in the prep for Worlds so it turned out like this. Also some people do not feel that the level of the talent is high any more and they do not wish to spend money or use vacation time for Canadian domestic events.

I worry about his injuries, some athletes gets so injured they end up in an operation room or in a wheel chair or unable to walk nor climb stairs nor unable to lie down. It is a big problem to have a back very injured. He might have to stop competing for awhile and train without jumping doubles nor triples nor quads. Some Quantum healing centers are fantastic to heal injuries, there is one where he lives in Irvine,Ca. Their medical beds and facilities use high tech equipment, some have lasers, special creams and great therapies.

Poor Stephen. You can tell from the way he speaks and behaves that he does not want to skate any more. Its clear that he is only doing it because someone (likely his parents) is telling him to. When he was on the podium at autumn classic he looked catatonic, like he didnt even care. Not only that, but this sport has also caused him major injuries and health issues, such as the back problems that caused this disastorous skate. Please just let Stephen be a college student and live a normal life for once!

I don't believe Stephen's parents are the type of people who would force him to continue against his wishes. They appear to be people who support what their sons wish to do (e.g. Peter gave up kayaking when he went to university). At ACI23 Stephen did not appear to be happy with his free skate. He likely wanted to win silver at least, and score much higher. Though he has always been reserved in expression during medal ceremonies. Even when he was winning everything in Canada he rarely smiled. Stephen will walk away from the sport when he wishes, but from what he's said it's clear he has things left to accomplish. We just don't know if his health will prevent him from achieving what he desires. We just need to wait and see what comes next.
