- Today we give Penny's enclosure a little spot clean and because lots of you were asking for more Penny content I hope I delivered on that part, so I give you all the updates I have on whether or not I have to tame him, his personality, favorite things to do and some of the anxieties I have!

I have a hamster called milkshake / shaky , we got her September 7 2021 , she is over two years old and I think its safe to say shes getting ready to leave this world .. She was a gorgeous, healthy hamster in a living world large cage , yesterday we had to take her to the emergency vet because thanks to you I saw she has symptoms of wet tail , my mum wasn’t keen on the price but i told her this is my pet and I’m not going to let her suffer.. So we went and now milkshakes on antibiotics but she still has it and is shaking uncontrollably when she walks or does anything, she looks very worn out and I think it would be a miracle if she got better , I just wanted to thank you ever so much for the 2 years and 5 months that you have been giving out information around hamsters 🐹 you deserve the best life ever because you gave my hamster the best life ever.. I will miss milkshake but I know she had a wonderful life , my poor angel is going to say goodbye soon..

My hamster passed away yesterday 🕊☹️ she was 2 and a couple months, I’m so upset but she’s going to be buried In my garden next to my other hamster I had before her❤️ Even though I’m not allowed another hamster I’m still going to watch your videos🫶
I got my first hamster in April, a Syrian boy too and he’s pretty much a ghost hamster so I’m forever worried about him passing away and me never knowing. I’ve probably had to dig him up like 4 times in the last 3 months to keep ensuring he’s still alive. The anxiety is real 😅
Penny is such a cute hamster and his coat is really beautiful and I think penny coat is really unique because I have never seen a hamster with that coat pattern in my life
I dry roses and herbs for my girl, and I baked her squash seeds that she loves! Or.. at least she did.. until she got out of her cage 2 days ago and hasn't been seen since 😢
You have provided me with great knowledge of hamster care, though, and my hamsters have been very happy and easy to care for because of you. Thank you Victoria. ❤

A bowl of her fave snacks are still sitting out so I highly doubt she is still around, but there's always that tiny bit of hope that says "well that ONE person found theirs after 2 months." Either way, you have seriously improved my hamsters' lives, and all of our hamsters' lives. We all appreciate you greatly 💜

Victoria, just under 3 years ago I had thought about getting a hamster, I started watching the videos you uploaded on hamsters and I knew straight away I wanted one. Today as of 25th October George passed away we had lots of good memories. I just wanted to say, Thankyou Victoria.
Penny is very cute and handsome! .Btw I am also having the anxiety that you were saying because I bought my hamster from pet shop which obviously not breeding the hamster properly, adopting hamster also not a good choice since most hamster owner in my country have really small knowledge regarding proper care of a hamster which cause many unethical breeding that produce unhealthy hamster, but I promise to myself that I will only buy hamster from ethical breeder after this even though it is hard to find one in my country and it is very pricey.
Hi Rachel I just wanted to say hi I've never left a message before but I do watch all of your videos well for the last little while I just got back into rescuing hamsters because there was an enormous amount this Summer that were on Kijiji that were being given away for free in these little tiny cages so I took it upon myself to rescue them and give them you know better life better enclosure better food etc etc I just wanted to thank you for putting out real information and correct information and I really do enjoy your videos and keep it up girl❤

I was given a rescue little boy today, he’s gorgeous and I’ve named him Ronnie, he’s my second rescue hamster. Next week I’m getting my pedigree hamster baby boy, I’m naming him Reggie.

i am going to opgrade my new hamster cage again next salary. And that is at November 3rd. i have already spend 650 USD for the cage yesterday. But, it still need more improvements. i can already tell my hammy mom and her pup really like their new home. The rest accessories i need is around 300usd. so, they gonna have to wait. My hamsters are Dwarf Hamsters. Mom and her pup 😊

I've had 3 different hamsters that were "biters". None of them EVER bit me even once. I'm upset thinking about the conditions their previous owners put them in, that they were so scared and stressed they would bite. The only hamster that ever bit me was an extremely food-motivated dummy that thought my finger was a treat 🤦♀️

I really don’t know who to ask so I’m gonna just post it here, really hope someone sees this. Around early June this year, Jimbo my hamster passed away a bit unexpectedly (he was 1 years old). I had already planned to get another hamster before this happened but I just ended up putting my new hamster Bear (8 month old) in Jimbo’s old cage. I got bear from Kijiji. He was very loving and sweet and I think only bit me once. A few weeks into having him I noticed he was very lethargic and kinda depressed looking. Turns out he had mites!!! Brought him to the vet and they did 2 treatments on him in the span of a few weeks. He was ok. I put him back in his old cage and really started getting nervous about the mites even though I had thrown everything out. So I brought him back to the vet and they did another treatment for good measure (I only later realized he should have gotten 3 not 2 from the start). In his hospital cage I gave him some herbs imported from Australia from Etsy. Unfortunately there must have been some deadly bacteria and I wasn’t able to bring him to the vet in time since it was a long weekend. He developed inter cranial pressure which progressively got worse over the course of a few days and just looking at him really broke my heart beyond anyway I could describe. I had to euthanize him with a CO2 chamber. And he died in my hands. I really just don’t know how to deal with this…
This is really hard... first of all I'd just like to say that I'm so, so sorry for both of your losses. It's really sad that Bear's life had to end so soon, but I'm sure he had a happy life while he was with you receiving good care. It isn't your fault that Bear died, you couldn't have known that that was in the sprays. I'd definitely write a review on these sprays saying what happened, just in case this isn't just an unlucky thing that happened to you. At least you could warn others, although I know this probably won't make your sadness go away. Know that you stopped his suffering by euthanizing him, and while this is very hard, it's still what a good owner should do. It's so awful that all this happened, but you did what you should have done, and you will feel better eventually. I know your pain in dealing with the loss of a hamster. ❤❤

Heyy thank u sm for answering my question last week, so do i remove the hay that my hamster does not eat (unless i put seed mix in and she digs around in it, she doesnt really touch it) or do i leave it in for her
Off topic but i just want to ask if its safe for hamsters to smell vinegar mixed in water. I tried to searched online but the only thing that shows is cleaning methods. The purpose on why im asking this is because i live in a country were is mostly sunny and very hot. So most of the time ants can be annoying and they keep getting into my hamsters cage. I want to make sure if its alright to just spray vinegar water and leave it there (Google said ants hate vinegar and its a natural anti pest. However im not sure if its okay for my hammaies to smell all of those vinegar with there sensitive nose)
It might be a little harsh for them to breathe in a the time! You can try a safe ant killer instead which is mixing equal parts baking soda with powdered sugar.

I don’t support rodent mills, it’s not saving one when another is going to have to take its place.
I also have noticed she is drinking a lot I don’t know if that’s good or bad, she is quite new and I don’t know her age, no wetness around her tail! I watch all of your videos for advice everyday and I used to have 2 happy healthy hamsters, but this one isn’t being tamed very well I need tips. I used to watch your videos before I even had any hamsters 😂

All of my Syrian hamsters rejected my hands when they were new to me. 2:52 So I was unable to move them to another cage or box for cleaning or it took me some time to do that using both hands to catch them. My hamsters must've been handled badly in pet shops. They were scared of even pet stop staff's hands. In fact, one of my hamsters had been missing one of his legs completely, which I realized I brought it back home, which I didn't check at the shop.

Oh my god, that has got to be the prettiest little boy I've ever seen (and I've had 2 male hammies and loved them to bits, to me they were my children & the prettiest on the planet, so that says a lot haha) and I totally get what you mean about the anxiety. That's honestly the reason why I decided that at this point in my life I'm not going to care for hamsters. After my 4th hammy, which was a female, tragically passed away from pyometra, my heart just couldn't take it anymore. I cried for weeks, and still feel incredibly sad just thinking about it, even though it's been half a year at this point. My hamsters were all from the petshop because there are no reputable hamster breeders in the Eastern European country I live in, and while almost half of the hammies I've ever had made it past the 2nd year mark, it's just come to a point where owning hamsters was affecting my mental health & just bringing a lot of anxiety & depression as all I could think of was 'how long are they going to live this time? what deadly illness do they have that I don't know of and the vets can do nothing about?'. I'm super glad I was able to give them a good life, in a big cage full of toys & the highest quality diet I could possibly provide, but seeing them deteriorate so quickly or finding them passed away suddenly and without signs was just so gut-wrenching that I hate to say I'm not mentally strong enough to witness it happening again. I commend you for continuing to care for hamsters, and I totally understand your anxiety. Unfortunately, in my experience, this anxiety doesn't get any better with time or with future hammies. Which is why I had to be honest with myself and take a break, indefinitely.
If you ever decide to do the same, please know that no one will be mad at you, and no one will hate you or guilt you that you took that decision. I know a natural part of owning pets is to be worried about them, but hamsters, mice, rats all have such fragile, short lifespans that this health anxiety is much more severe and therefore taxing on the mental health of the pet owner. Be kind to yourself, always
He is so cute! Sadly my friend has (or I could better say had) 2 dwarfs... they born babies, three of them grew up and now some hamsters born 3 newborns! Unfortunately the big hamsters ate the newborns AND ONE OF THE BIG HAMSTERS! They ate his whole head and all of the inside! That was terrible actually... My friend was not that terrified by the whole thing.. They are 5-4 hamsters in one cage!!! she even sometimes takes a hamster and throws it high while catching it on air..! She says they like it, i say that this is bad for them and scary but she just gets mad and pretends that she knows everything! their cage is also super bad even if its big for a petshop cage... I wanna save at least one from that hell! She might give me one but I need a good sized cage and i have to make it first... (in a store here in the neighborhood they sell plastic bins so... maybe one of those?) also my parents don't like the idea of having a 4th pet... I already have 2 dogs 1 cat and another kitty... maybe we will keep the 4th kitten anyway... so... a 5th pet??? HOW CAN I HELP THAT SITUATION!???
Hi Victoria! I have bought/made and a bunch of toys for my hamster but he won’t chew it. I tried plain peanut butter without sugar or salt but he won’t touch it. Is there anything I can do to help him chew more?
My hamster passed away on Friday and I got him cremated. But he lived 3 happy years! Thanks to your videos I am able to provide him with an enriched life full of happiness!! I will adopt another hamster in memory of him and follow along penny life with the new hammy!

Hi I got my first hamster nibbles 2 months ago and I have a nice sized cage and he won’t stop biting the bars I have so many chews and good sized wheel good food I have no idea what I’m doing wrong any tip?
Perhaps get an enclosure without any bars like Victorias, my hamster used to bite bars so I got a new enclosure and then obviously they can’t bite anymore

Yeah, however from my viewpoint because hamsters are very neglected, despite them having short lives when you do give them everything they need once they do pass you feel at peace knowing they had the best life possible with you

Hi Victoria I’m a fan of your channel and love your pets. Today I realised my hamster can’t open his right eye. I thought at first maybe he is half asleep or didn’t sleepwell but in the evening I found out it was stuck it couldn’t be open. My mom tried to gently open it but he keeps avoiding her touching his eye. My dad it look like is kind of swelling maybe he accidentally got hit or got scratched by something. I think it’s just like humans when we slept late and got eye constipation,sorry if I’m wrong, I don’t know much this is only my second hamster and I’ve been watching your vids for more information and tips. If this happened to your before can u explain please?

Sometimes older hamsters will get sleepers in their eyes which once it dries keeps the eye shut, you can wipe it with a damp cloth to open it again but if it does seem swollen it's definitely good to see a vet.

Victoria, greetings from Germany! I wanted to write you for a while now. I built a beautiful terranium and adopted a rescue male golden hamster with all I learned from you 💛 I initially built a 80x50x50cm enclosure and to my mistake I thought the lavish depth of paper bedding would suffice but then upgraded it to a 125x50x50 to be able to get him because the shelter here rejected the first version saying it's too small!!! I was pretty amazed they did so actually, so much difference here in Germany in terms of animal welfare. Now I know what you meant by the German standards! Wanted to share my journey with you :) Much love! -Esra

so. i wanted to buy Niteangel hamster cage on ebay, amazon and main website. unfortunatly. they cannot ship it to my coountry 😮💨😞 which is Greenland. so, i just need to build them myself again.
