I love Sancutary and Secret Garden. Would love to hear a mix of Secret Garden. Always toward the end of each album is a gem and this is the one from BS
That dancer is Rita Christiani - From Wikipedia: (1917-2008) was a Trinidad-born African-American dancer who appeared in American films during the 1940. She danced and toured with the Katherine Dunham Company in the early 1940s. In the course of touring, Christiani met the independent avante-garde filmmaker, Maya Deren, and was given a role in Deren’s film Ritual in Transfigured Time (1946). Deren was the main character in the film and Christiani danced the role of Deren’s alter ego, their images interchanging in black and white counterpoint to the dancer Frank Westbrook. Anaïs Nin was also in the film. Footage of Christiani from this film was included in the documentary In the Mirror of Maya Deren (2002) by Martina Kudlacek. Christiani and Deren became close friends, sharing the bond of being uprooted from their native lands as children and coming to America. Her other film appearances include The Black Swan (1942) starring Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara, Road to Morocco (1942) starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, and the musicals Thank Your Lucky Stars (1942) and Happy Go Lucky (1943). After working in films and as a dancer, Christiani may have been a nurse in Chicago. Christiani died on May 23, 2008 in Brooklyn, New York.
Sanctuary is such an amazing song.Sanctuary & Bedtime Stories has the Ray Of Light Feel to me. Both of the songs would have worked extremely well on ROL. I do love Bedtime Stories because it was so different from any of her last 5 albums. I LOVE This version of the song.
Yes, I did the remix. I combined elements from the original instrumental demo version of the song with filtered elements from the album version. Spent A LOT of time trying to get both versions in sync with each other...I'm guessing the instrumental demo was either produced without a click track or it was sourced from a cassette because the bpm had minor fluctuations throughout...so getting it to sync up consistently with the album version was a painstaking process. And then I spent even more time tweaking the mix to get both tracks to play nicely with each other... But I was really happy with the way it turned out, so it was all worth it in the end! lol. Glad you enjoyed it!
Letras Surely whoever speaks to me in the right voice Him or her I shall follow Who needs the sun, when the rain's so full of life? Who needs the sky? It's here in your arms I want to be buried You are my sanctuary Who needs the sun, when the rain's so full of life? Who needs the sky, when the ground's open wide? It's here in your arms I want to be buried You are my sanctuary Who needs a smile, when a tear's so full of love? Who needs a home, with the stars up above? It's here in your heart I want to be carried You are my sanctuary Who needs the light, with the darkness in your eyes? Who needs to sleep, with the stars in the sky? It's here in your soul I want to be married You are my sanctuary And the earth was void and empty And darkness was upon the face of the earth Is all of this pain so necessary You are my sanctuary Surely whoever speaks to me in the right voice Him or her I shall follow As the water follows the moon, silently Who needs the sun? (With fluid steps) Who needs the sky? (Around the globe) Who needs to sleep? (I hear your voice) You are (you are) my sanctuary You are (you are, you are) You are (you are) my sanctuary
"Ritual In Transfigured Time" conceived/directed/edited by Maya Deren (1946; Public Domain) featuring Rita Christiani, Maya Deren, Anaïs Nin & Frank Westbrook
Maybe the falling from the sky bit? Although it would have to be the other way around (the film inspired the LAP video) considering the footage is from a 1946 Maya Deren film. If there are other similarities I didn't catch them, but I'd be interested in hearing what they are if you care to share. :)
@@sonicboy19 yes, I mean that. LaP's viedo was inspired by Maya Darren's. Madonna is a cinephile. In all her works she draws inspiration from films. I don't know if in this case, it is intentional: hers or Mary Lambert's. Women in charge.
Such a great great song always felt it should've been a single with bedtime story like on long video it would've been awesome

I agree. Also her collaboration with Massive Attack, the Marvin Gaye cover of "I want you" would've worked well in Ray of Light.
That's why she changes. Madame X is the 2019 Ray of Light and it is absolutely increíble
Waay too much auto tune on that one, for me.
UN TEMA FANTASTICO DE LA REYNA, POR NO DECIR DE LOS MEJORES Y UN VÍDEO EXTRA DIMENSIONAL!...
Very artistic, thanks!

Is this a fan-made version or 'official'. It sounds very good!
Thank you very much!!
that is the original-one!
I see reference to "Like a prayer" video. Isnt' it?
