I return to this regularly, it's absolute witchcraft levels of genuis. This level of talent isn't written in any handbook, it's completely unworldly.
I professionally build pianos in every form factor and this guy plays this instrument how it is supposed to be - and it took only 200 years to realise that this is the right way.
they don't call it a percussion instrument for nothing!
I was just thinking the same thing. Mozart etc. were good, but in this age we literally mastered on piano.
He's not the only one that does this stuff..percussion on and with many surfaces, bowing strings, looping, harmonic stopping, hand muting, etc (this and others of his vids), don't think he was even the first to do any of it, not sure, but he does do it REALLY well, and this an Pirates are two favorites of mine from him. If you haven't seen that one take a look. And if you want to see a well played odyssey from pirates called Pirates Forever, check out Jerrod Radnich's version...it is nuts, and quite beautiful at times!
I'm scared to break strings and the mechanism inside pianos are nuts ! It's so fucking mechanical, all those little levers, arms, and rockers. I have a 90s kawaii upright with weird creaking on several keys just above middle C and I believe it's some of those mechanisms beginning to wear. You guys think a tuner will look at this stuff for me ?
Excellent for every cloud there's a shining silver.star..and this one of them
This is the song I so often listened to to give me hope in living through narcissistic abuse from my mom. I am now out with an amazing and supportive husband and on my way to healing! ❤
Oh me too, bless that you found some peace. I am working on it, and I am gonna make it! This version is simply joyous ❤

Anyone notice the actual piano is possibly the best in the world
Noticed!
Why do I think Yamaha owns Bosendorfer these days?
I stopped playing about two years ago...laziness and being occupied with other things...
...I’m starting again today....thank you.
That's great! never give up my friend
I played piano before when I was 2 and I knew happy birthday until 6 years old because I gave up then now almost 2 years since I started piano and I know over 50 songs and I'm 12 years old
Tank_Tango PUBG that explains ur name, your 12 yrs old. What’s your hardest song you’ve played? Mine was Wrong Note Etude by Chopin
Go fuck urself nobody cares
@@ripjaffurs wow you think you're cool or something? please do everyone a favor and never reply to comments again.
Talented Musician + Coke +Toto's Africa = Perfect Video
Don't forget the sweet Bösendorfer
Lol
Got to be minimum 2 grams in that video . But boy has he got some skills
lol
@Snich Trolliana we sure are but it's not the sugar free kind that's for sure .. he is a great talent though Jesus he plays the shit out of that thing . Johnny may is also a fine player does some really cool stuff .
I love how PB plays a piano worth more than my house in his bare feet like it's an actual extension of his body. Pure brilliance.
Yes. It think its a Bosendorfer 290, they can be 500000 dollars.....
My mom died on Christmas. And this song reminds me of her. I’ve played your version many times and cried thinking about my mother. It’s a beautiful version that encompasses all the emotion that I needed to grieve. Thank you
A hug from Italy friend ❤️
j'adore ! émotion très communicative, cela fait du bien , merci
hope you've gotten better
Bösendorfer: You are not good enough to play me
Peter Bence: Hold my shoes.
I was wondering if someone more notice that he's barefoot, HAHAHAHHAHA. Thanks
Underrrated comment 😂😂
Literally laughing my ass off here in my room
He doesn't play the piano
*he is the piano*
When where is his pe pe
He doesn't play the piano, the piano plays him...
This is the most enthusiastic pianist I have ever seen.
Africa by Toto was our theme song of the 80s! You've made it official and indisputable. Brilliantly played!!
Owner of the Piano: Play carefully it’s expensive!
This Guy: Slaps in A#-Major
Well I hope he didn’t slap A-minor
Lewis Chapman I see what you did there.

Isn’t it a b?
I’ve watched this 6 or 7 times now, and showed my wife and kids. This is incredible. Thank you for this beautiful creation.

This, my friends, is called being full of music from your head to your toes!! ❤
Are you kidding me!!!! This cover is incredible. Still listening to it, years after I discovered it.
Toto - Africa: is my favorite song in the last 33 years. Your version is absolutely incredible. You're the boss.
I totally agree!!! Have you heard Wayo's version of Africa....another really nice one!!!
@@johansantenn Yes I know :-).
Absolutely mind-blowing!!
And seriously... who cares how expensive the piano is? What worth would it have without those fingers bringing it alive?
560,000$ to be exact
Alot
So true!
But if the piano is that expensive, I can‘t even imagine the worth of his fingers.
Sure the piano is expensive, but it's expensive so that it can be played this way. (Well it's expensive becuase it's an Imperial BUT, not just that). A good piano is desgined to take abuse and keep giving and giving and giving and people don't seem to understand that.
This song is so good they even named a continent after it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
One of the best comments
This is way better than the original.
Absolutely magical performance. A one-man orchestra. Even more impressive to see Peter Bence thoroughly enjoying this presentation. Spellbinding.

The piano is like, " could you buy me lunch first"? Lol
what is the name of the second part in the cover ?
😂
Wanna prenup with that piano?
Don't know why but a minute in when he stands, hand plucks the string and sits back down it brings tears to my eyes. Music= turning sound into emotion.
this guy is really something else. and I didn't know he was from Hungary first! absolutely brilliant!
Doctor: Do you work out regularly?
Guy: Does piano playing count?
hahahahahh!
Yes. I too had the work-out thought. Certainly he is getting exercise, isn't he? It happens that my wife, who's a dietician, says that playing the piano "vigorously" burns about 100 calories per hour... but I am pretty sure Peter Bence is using more than that... (?)
Neck exercise
🤣🤣
@@effyleven YES! I can finally say I'm exercising when I play piano!

I should play piano more.
This was actually the second song of the set; his shoes flew off during the first one and they're now somewhere in orbit around the planet Earth.

Possibly the best example of human brilliance demonstrated in one performance. The Smithsonian needs to preserve this!
You know this is playbacked, right? It's just a well produced multitrack recording.
@@benedykt123313 imagine producing an actually good music video, but using just one instrument. The beauty of this piece was that it was achieved using just one instrument and only one instrument. Everyone knows it is playbacked, but come on! Hear the actual music.
@@suhaasvemuri7980 The problem is presentation. It's not so hard to make the music Peter Bence is making if you have all the time in the world and access to a half decent recording studio. His "party trick" is the use of a looping station and using it live, where he very clearly didn't in this video.
Imagine being famous for being "that guy that hits his piano for performance" while it's all fake. It's kinda sad, isn't it?
It always is a good thing to see a musician have so much enthusiasm while playing and completely feeling the jam.

I almost cried watching this.. man I love the magnificent spirit and creativity in some people
Especially the commentary!
Indeed!
That interlude...DAAAAAMN! 😍
After about a minute of this epic performance I found myself wondering at the immense creative human talent that created the piano, the electronic devices and the beautiful song. And then how could this one man elevate them all at once, and rise above to create something even God hasn't seen.
As a member of the World Wide Organization for the Protection & Prevention of all Pianos from being used far beyond its limits of existence, I'd like to inform you that your piano is just at the edge of a huge cliff and it is just about jumping at the next extreme chords you eventually play on "him"! Amazing how it didn't self desctruct after being played like this! Congrats on your extraordinary playing tech! Keep musicin'...
Like your mom, pianos can also take a good pounding :)

Fantastic job on the sound mixing.
aSongScout hey !! I love your channel !!
aSongScout are you taking the mickey or are you being serious yes it is a fantastic job on the sound mixing and also on the piano Peter is a breath of fresh air something different he is amazing have you been to see him live maybe you need to
I was being serious, videos like this take a ton of work of figuring out how to mic each part of the piano optimally and how to mix all the different tracks together in a way that sounds good and isn't cluttered. His playing is obviously amazing so I thought I would leave a comment on something that isn't mentioned as much.
aSongScout I'm very sorry I've just seen so many negative comments it's disgraceful to be honest how somebody can mock a person with such Talent he is a true artist
Hey, any idea what foot pedal set up he's using for the loop recording?

Someone get this guy a record contract so he can buy some shoes!
he needed to be bare to use the loop station on the ground

@@axireon9889 Don't offer up completely wrong answers to people.
@Jason Cavanaugh Or.. Don't offer up completely unsupported comebacks as to how I'm wrong. I'm quite a musician myself and have a good understanding on how all this works. Yes he could have worn shoes, but it makes it more of a struggle because not all loop stations have wide enough pedals. As does my own. Shoes can also slow your reaction time so you may not tap the pedal fast enough causing that track to be off tempo with the rest of the song. Now please enlighten me on how I offered *"Completely Wrong"* answers to people?
@@axireon9889 Here's my anecdotal evidence, since that's all you've offered:
I've been a guitarist for over 20 years. Not using shoes of some sort with a pedal will also allow the sole of your foot to curve around the pedal's trigger rather than depressing it consistently if you were using a flat surface to activate it, particularly with pedals that have a push-button trigger. Also, shoes do not 'slow reaction times.' That is beyond foolish.
Take your barefoot, hippie stupidity and share it with people who might actually believe you.
"That piano is really expensive!" "He isn't wearing shoes!" "He's banging on the keys too hard!"
.

Wait a minute. This is awesome. Never mind.

Cracking sound on it!
He is pounding too hard, I agree... He has a wonderful Pianissimo, but his Fortissimo is just awful! I love his transcriptions; they are masterpieces!
Who cares it only a panio
@@TuffBurnOutTeam Y'know, this is a really underappreciated comment. I mean, yes, it's a masterpiece of an instrument, designed within a very thin tolerance to enable a superior--almost mystical--performance, and from that perspective, it should be treated with respect.
However.
It was designed with a simple purpose in mind: to make music. This is what that precision, that dedication, and that mastery were geared towards: the performance of music. Thus, if crafting the best performance requires harming or even destroying the piano... well, burn the f#@%er down.
Whatever level we were on, this is next level!
I play the piano (badly) with my hands. If I am feeling adventurous I might get my forearms involved. I love the way you play it with your entire body, the way you whip yourself forward to emphasise notes is just joyful! Really brightened my day!
I used the damn instrument wrong my whole life.
i'm afraid so... but hey, at least salieri did too
Pity Beethoven can't hear this.

@amanda mylcraine Mozart actually used quite a bit of profanity- the man even wrote a six-part canon that literally translates to "lick me in the arse".
@amanda mylcraine people know little about Mozart I swear. He has had obsession with "butts" for once, for second he was a known prankster. He even finished his compositions on day before competition. He later fell into alcoholism, but Mozart was class. I bet he also used piano in ways we cannot think about.
Never seen something beaten so beautifully

"he doesn't just play the piano, he is the piano" or "he doesn't just play the piano, he feels the piano" would have been better.
Was pretty fast for normal speed. Sounded good Barry Allen.
very good piano skills, but I don‘t like music videos pretending to be played live but actually are prerecorded - it must definetly been mixed to sound like that. anyways, a nice idea but not unique.
what about that makes you think it "must *definitely have been* mixed to sound like that"? i've seen performers do shit just like this live and in person, and it sounded just as good to me, so i'm not sure what you're talking about.
$500,000 piano he spankin'.
he spankin the piano
Nope. On sale at Costco. $247,000.
yeah what a spoiled brat!
I'm not a fan of the sounds effects he made with the piano (like the banging at the beginning), but pianos are designed and can withstand a lot of abuse. You can punch the keys all you want, the piano will not care, especially a Bosendorfer Imperial M290.
I think he’s allowed to since he’s that good lol
Wow! That surging passion is unreal! Enjoy piano covers and its hard for them not to be boring at times but you take it to another level
This is the last thing that someone special sent to me before they died. It's a very passionate performance although it does gives me the blues now with this context.

I love how passionate he is when he plays it. Full of emotions. ❤️ all musicians should feel this when they play instruments or sing. Don’t ever feel shy or feel that people will judge you. Let all your emotions out and be proud of it.
Hi Farah Yahir and greetings from Wales.
"Full of emotions. ❤ all musicians should feel this when they play instruments or sing. Don’t ever feel shy or feel that people will judge you. Let all your emotions out and be proud of it." You're exactly correct and you've just solved a mystery for me about my own performing.
As a child until I was 13 or so, I was a very accomplished chorister and occasionally sang solo in large diocesan Cathedrals. Whilst I struggled with massive anxiety when in that situation due to being Autistic, nonetheless I managed. Once my voice broke, I stopped singing and was traumatised by the change in my voice and that I could no longer produce that beautiful sound, I vowed never to sing again. In my 50's, (60's now!) I decided that I'd been stupid to not sing for so long as I think I need to sing to be mentally well but unfortunately, I just can't let my guard down enough to even make a decent note and wondered why I was cripplingly anxious when I tried to. You've made me realise that the cassock, surplus and ruff etc, (chorister's robes/uniform) and the 'ban' on being animated whilst singing, I can't let my guard down enough to perform at all. They provided me with a 'mask', and as we all know, Autists need 'mask' to be able to function. Now I can work on that and maybe find another 'mask'.
Thanks/Diolch
