I will say something Tom. I remember back in 2019 ish when you were stood on a balcony when doing a domestic job and said there is a whole world out there and you want a slice of that pie and looking at what you have achieved since proves you want the whole thing and you are well on the way to getting it. Well done Tom 👏 it's better to go all in or go home.
Tom is pure class, example if you want it you have to work your goddamn ass off and take the plunge determination will pay off!!! He spends his Sunday chilling drinking coffee in his van planning the week ahead now it can be in his bucket 🤣
I really think it would be worth having AED defibrillators on all your trucks but especially the bucket truck as you are going to be working in industrial high voltage areas and on the railways. AEDs are lifesaving pieces of kit and you never know when you or someone else might need it…

Buy quality equipment and don't half ass it .Train quality associates to do quality work ...success is practically handed to you. ( Yes ,with very hard work and long hours ) . Keep doing what you're doing Thomas . Looking forward to seeing future growth and further success for you and the Nagy team !!! Cheers from Canada !!!!
Love the recent videos. Most vans I see have a mountain of receipts, Sun newspapers and empty cans on the dash. This is like a military operation on wheels.
Great post as always Tom. I’m a joiner and carpenter in London and went in to contracting when you were really getting established (2017) and have fallen well behind in terms of establishing a business instead of a self employed job. I’ve regretted that decision in a sense but was the correct thing at the time for my family. The truck is lovely but I listen out for the business and financial aspects more. It’s great to see you pushing on and developing, good luck!
Isn't it a good idea to install an AED, especially in this van, because of the remote operation, high voltage, etc. An AED can be really beneficial after a high voltage shock...
We are looking at replacing vehicles soon, the swing out lifter looks real handy, we have spare parts of 100kg each and getting these in is a giant pita
Great van and lift. Can't wait to see more of it in action. One word of caution at night and the big lights, watch out to not blind oncoming traffic with the off road lights up high on the back. 😎😲
Bucket Trucks are best fun when you are single crewed and up in the bucket and the local youth rock your van side to side (it's like Alton Towers but without the expensive entry ticket)
I can't imagine the cost of insurance for all the vehicles and their contents, plus insurance on the office and stock not to mention liability coverage.
Great set up, fascinating seeing your business progress. I looked at getting an electric Master as Renault didn’t do an EV Trafic. The quoted range was 75miles but with a real world range of 50 miles! Also £60K plus, didn’t make sense financially or practically. Ended up with a diesel Trafic, and it’s been great so far.
Don’t forget your piss pan/bottle (wide mouth sports bottle works a treat) for when you’re caught short somewhere… How long before the hand wash drain gets modified to exit through the bottom of the van?😉
Must be different from UK to US because our Ford Transits come standard with A/C on their bucket truck models. But it's now an OSHA requirement too. I work on the roads for a living and I'm in the Pacific NW so we got similar weather to the UK. My dump truck doesn't have A/C as it was ordered before the law change. It is miserable in the spring and summer especially if you're doing something like pulling shoulders where we are moving very slowly. Kudos to you for making a/c a priority. Your crews will thank you.
Its a big investment tom , but your doing the right thing to try and get out of the domestic work ! too much undercutting & customers want everything cheap
So glad to see more and more content Tom… really happy to see you pop up in my notifications all the time lately… you do right to get out of the domestic sector mate, I heard an ad on the radio up here in County Durham for an electric company offering a full house rewrite in two days or less and they said from as little as £1799.00 I sh*t you not… this is why hard working and genuinely skilled trade people such as yourself and your staff are finding it hard in the domestic sectors of the trades because you get companies like that undercutting and using shoddy workers with little to zero skills on a job that should be done by someone with a few years on the job under their belts at least. Hope you manage to come through on the other side and flourish for many many years to come because my life wouldn’t be the same without my fix or videos from Thomas Nagy and Co…
Really interesting vid. I enjoyed the thought processes you discussed about the van fit out and some of the price details too. Can’t wait to see some of the jobs you do with this.
next thing you know, you'll have to get a fiber splicing fuser & related equipment for the CCTV stuff also, you're missing an expresso machine in there :-) the 2 man bucket is very useful to carry the stuff you have to install at the top of the pole of whatever

It happened down the round from you in Neasden.

Back in the States I worked out of a van doing 2-way radio repairs out in the field. What I wish I had was one of those hot water sinks! Can you supply me with a link there in the UK that sells the hot water sink as well as the soap dispenser. I am still out as to the solid bulkhead dividers on these commercial vans. Its great for security but at times I would like the ability to access the work area from the cab. The dividers sold in the states come in various configurations solid, expanded metal upper area, with door or without and various locking options for the doors. The interrior of the work area is very nice however my preference is white to distribute my work lighting inside the van. One needs all the lighting one can get when working on electronics out in the field. Even went as far as to adding an Espar diesel heater for those cold Midwest winters (wont buy Chinesium junk).

Really interesting Tom. Have you thought about bringing a second stream of the cameras surrounding the van to a screen above the work surface? It would give a better idea of what’s going on outside for anyone working in the van. Also isn’t the paperwork by the door going to get soaked in the good old British rain?

With the MEWP, winch, full tank of fuel, driver, passenger & racking what payload is left? Ahd how much has to be over which axle? The van is magnificent. Right now, everything is nice and clean, with showroom shine and that new smell too. If it were mine, I would be paranoid about trying to keep it that way 😁. Can the signage be stowed in the bucket?
Just worth pointing out that the Commerical Operators licence has now been fazed out and replaced with the European regulations so anyone can undertake commercial work without a licence :). They now have new licences for specific use cases but if you've got a small enough drone, you can fly nearly anywhere :)

I have the same van , they are nice vans but just make sure you do some motor way miles because you will have problems with dpf . I have have had a blocked dpf at 5k miles and now the same at 9.5k . The dpfs are small and get blocked quick .
The drops from the head to the cutout is almost always in T&E
Never seen twin and earth but normally 3 core blue or white flex
Never seen it in t&e in my life and done street lighting for over 10years. It’s always in flex or some of the really old stuff is in double insulated singles
@@rsdelectrical To be fair I've not done street lighting since the late 90's. I wonder if its a regional thing then, certainly Durham and Newcastle area was all T+E
yo tom, another great video mate, saw u today down in Chiswick.....brown bloke in a white connect...lol, hope u managed to find parking mate, told my misses and she said i should of got you to like her Instagram page....lol 👍🏾
It was lovely meeting you pal ! And yeah, I managed to find a parking spot in the end 😅
Really impressive van, well thought out and kitted! Only thing I can think of it missing is a kettle for a cup of coffee while working!
Hmmmmm ....... 😉
The van is magnificent. Right now, everything is nice and clean, with showroom shine and that new smell too. If it were mine, I would be paranoid about trying to keep it that way 😁. Can the signage be stowed in the bucket?
would rattle , needs padding ?
Can you show us setting up the boom and controlling it
Tracker fitted to the equipment and van I hope..... Some serious set up you have....
Just worth pointing out that the Commerical Operators licence has now been fazed out and replaced with the European regulations so anyone can undertake commercial work without a licence :). They now have new licences for specific use cases but if you've got a small enough drone, you can fly nearly anywhere :)
can i make a suggestion putting a first aid sign above the first aid kit so as to make it readily identifiable in an emergency
I’m curious to know how heavy the van is with all that equipment and lift
