  • How can YOU get a heels down resting squat?!?
There’s no single answer. Every body is different, and squats are a complex movement pattern that involves many different joints.
In fact, often the reason your heels won’t go down is less because of your ankles and calves and more because of your hips! It could also be ankle mobility, tension in the backs of your legs, hip rotation capacity or even spinal mobility.
Figuring out what your body needs to squat more deeply can be a little bit like being a detective!
Here are 10 of my favourite exercises to help you work on squatting. This is literally just scratching the surface, but it should get you started!
One of the best things about working on squats? Is that all of the work that you do to improve your squatting capacity is also good for your body.
So for instance, when you work on improving your hip flexion, you’re also helping your knees, pelvic floor and low back!
Squatting is a key human movement pattern, and even if you never get your heels on the ground, you will get tons of benefits out of working on your squat ability!

I've not seen mini squats with vertical shins before. I'm definitely putting that on my workout list. I need stronger hamstrings.

Hi! This looks excellent! What is the name of that blue item you are standing upon? I’d like to track one of those down.
