  • Back in 1983, The Washington State Department of Transportation drove East on SR-12 and recorded video to document the highway. This was part of a project that photographed/videotaped the states highways every couple of years. This video now resides at The Washington State Archives who were kind enough to share it.

It's interesting to see the Tri-Cities area from way back in the day. Some of the road routes, and all of the vehicles were different, but the geographical landscape is the same. The Red Lion Inn hotel toward the end of the video is still there.

It's amazing how much the Tri-Cities has changed over the years isn't it?

Well this is completely different, everything is this video is now a different highway number, or a local road.
It appears to start near an interchange under construction for I-182, then follows Columbia Park Trail to State Route 240 to US 395 across the Blue Bridge into Pasco, then turning onto what is now I-182 and ending under the overpass to US 395 north.

I think what they're talking about is the old highway, not the new.

Those were the best of times in Tri-Cities.

The year I graduated from Columbia Burbank and really miss the amount of traffic or lack of compared to now.
