    In this video I take a first look at the Mil-Tec Recom 1 Tent with an overnight camp in wet, windy, and then freezing conditions through the night.
    This video is just a first impression of the tent and intent on doing some Stealth Camping and wanted a low profile and sturdy structure, which could be used for some wild camping of the more hidden variety in England and Wales; Scotland is not a problem as wild camping is permitted.
    I will follow this video up with a closer look at the details of the tent and erecting it in better weather, and then a further review once it has been tested fully.
    The thoughts and actions outlined in the video are personal to me and everyone will need to view things from their own perspective.

    I agree on all your observations. I had one of these tents for a few years and it didn't disappoint on any occasions. One time I was camping in a thunderstorm. Waking up in the morning, I saw the roof sagging strangely. I gently pushed upward and emptied several liters of water around the tent. The tent had kept me dry! The seams on the straps of the tub could use some waterproofing. I was camping in windy and rainy conditions for a couple of days and then a small trickle water made it inside the tent trough these seams. This tent is serious, is my opinion, and a good value for the money I'd say. That way we can put the money on a good sleeping bag, mattress and cooking utensils...

    I can honestly say Andrew that I did look at this tent myself in the early days of my camping adventures before realising I needed a little more space. I was going to start my camping adventures on my Triumph but it never came to fruition.
    It was a good presentation of a low end market tent that will meet the needs of some👍
    Happy biking Taff 🤠👊

      I also prefer a larger tent for most camping Taff and have a few tents (fortunately my wife has no idea 😂) and prefer a little more space, depending on what the trip involves, but wanted a low profile tent and didn’t want to pay too much so thought I’d give it a go. I was wanting a Snugpak Ionosphere but at this moment didn’t want to spend too much! I’m really quite impressed with the Mil-Tec but we’ll see how it goes! I’m changing the guy lines and pegs, simply because I have replacements already and the originals are not great but impressed with design and space for such a small tent…looking at some stealth camping later on. All the best, Andrew

    it looks interesting, not seen many one man tents with three poles, would be worth swapping them out for aluminium poles, my initial observation is that the fly bottom edge needs to be lower.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  10 місяців тому

      It is an interesting and solid design for small tent..should be easy enough to make aluminium poles up but fly bottom ixx as as low as it goes, obviously this can help with ventilation particularly with it being small

    Hi Andy, I'm enjoying the videos and I'm working through the "back catalogue". A cold night camping! You mentioned you use the Snugpak but what is your sleeping system? What sleeping pad did you use in this -5 camp? All the best.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  2 роки тому

      Many thanks, I use the Snugpak Softie Elite4 sleeping bag with comfort factor of -10c and an older Exped down filled sleeping mat, which I think is -15c. I only use them in winter and also wear some thermal top and bottoms with some new down booties (recently bought and incredible) Occasionally I take a Camping blanket if even colder and for wrapping round when just sitting about camp. The only thing is all the winter stuff is more bulky so fills bag….. roll on spring 😆

    I believe its a military grade tent as used by us forcces for stealth and reconacense work.

    Its more of a bivvy than tent i guess

    Hi,to be honest it does not look like a good looking tent in my view,weight wise it is hardly less then my ginormous opalus 3 .But for young agile campers(not me)it might the right.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  2 роки тому +1

      I’d agree on the weight and size but got this for a bit of stealth camping with the low profile small nature of it…the Opalus 3 is a great tent and relative small pack size
