  • Thinking about moving to New Braunfels? Over 13,000 people did from 2021 to 2022 and almost 50,000 have made the move to New Braunfels since 2010. SOME locals are not happy about that. Today, we hit the ground in New Braunfels to see what locals think about all the growth.
Thinking of moving to/from the New Braunfels area? I'd love to help! Reach out to me at raadalawan@gmail.com to get started. You can alsocall/text: 830-743-6366.

We're moving to NB to live in a community with like minded people. We are not comfortable with the direction our current community is headed. This area of Texas reminds us of what our current community used to be.
Most of our neighbors are happy with our states radical direction. That tells me it's time to explore other options. For us (after years of research) the best option was NB.
We are excited, NB is a special place and honestly, we feel honored to call it home!

    Raad,
    thanks for making this video
It's a subject that needs to be addressed.
Definitely needs to be managed, example we desperately need sidewalks just east of Creekside leading from our communities back into Creekside!
Management especially when it comes to resources, unlike a lot of other towns along the I-35 Corridor between the two large cities we actually have more of a cohesive Community with lots of Rich history
    "Not just suburbs,"
hopefully like-minded individuals will choose us because of that and bring that quality along with them.
    Thanks again!!

My wife and I are native Californians, both born and raised in Whittier, a bedroom community suburb near Los Angeles. Whittier was founded as a Quaker town, so it's obviously seen great changes over the last 100 years or so. We are planning to retire to New Braunfels in the next few months and I understand the concerns of people native to the Hill Country, especially with the influx of Californians. All I can say is that there are plenty of beautiful, rural places in California we could retire to. There is a _reason_ why so many Californians are moving to Texas; many of us feel that the state we grew up in is gone (remember that Ronald Reagan was once our governor). We are not moving there to bring change to the values and/or atmosphere. We are moving there BECAUSE of same. Also, we're in our 60's, so you won't have to put up with us for too long. :)

moved to san antonio txs. (close to new braunfels) 2 years ago. we will be moving back to CA next month. if you're in your late 40's & up this is this place for you. not much to do other than going to heb & few restaurants. imo there's more cons than pros

I say IF YOUR NOT A NATIVE TEXUN, STAY OUT PERIOD!!!!
STAY WHERE YOUR FROM BE RESPONSIBLE & FIX YOUR NATIVE HOMES ISSUES, DONT COME HERE & CREATE MORE UN-NECESSARY PROBLEM FOR US.
OR BETTER YET, GO FIND SOME RURAL COMMUNITY TO LIVE IN.
LIKE WHAT PROBLEMS ONE MAY ASK?? ITS COMMON SENSE TO FIGURE OUT.
CRIME, HIGHER TAXES, LESS JOBS FOR US, MORE LAND BEING TORN APART TO MAKE ROOM FOR OTHERS, MORE, MORE, MORE.....😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😮😮😮😮😮😮

If there ARE beautiful RURAL places in California, THEN GO THERE.
Your not moving here to bring changes!!!!??? Duh....well what the heck would you call it, OVERCROWDING! OF COURSE PEOPLE NOT FROM TEXAS BRING CHANGE, MAJOR CHANGE, DISRUPTION, DISCORD, everything!!!
      STAY THERE OR MOVE ELSEWHERE!!!!!
LEAVE TEXAS to NATIVE Texas folks....we've had enough of PEOPLE from EVERYWHERE coming here.
YOU WILL FIND that people WILL NOT BE WELCOMING... so why come to just have to move again.

Hopefully not out growing city services, Hollister Ca had the same problem several years ago and had to put new building permits on hold for a couple years.

As long as people are willing to sell land to developers and the city grants zoning and lot regulations that benefit builders the growth will come, like it or not. Planned growth that preserves the heritage and ensures the ability to provide for that growth is the challenge. We all want big city conveniences with small town feel and vibe. It's a hard act to follow. We need to assure the availability of housing and services for all groups of people. Not everyone can afford a 500K house. I am more concerned with availability of water for the next generation as growth continues.

I was born and raised in Germany and immigrated to the United States when I was 17 years old. After 20+ years on the west coast, we seeked asylum in Texas and found New Braunfels. I understand, coming from California we are not the most popular people right now to the locals but please, please, please give us a chance. We acclimated and celebrate the culture, became active in the local community and share the very values that made this town what it is today.
As a German citizen living in New Braunfels and sharing a slice of my culture with my kids, I am over the moon living in this community.

The growth goes hand in hand with development and the development is the most exciting part about living in New Braunfels because there is always something on the horizon to look forward to. That said, there are legitimate concerns about the sustainability of the growth when it comes to water. Overall, I would prefer living somewhere people want to move to as opposed to somewhere people are moving away from.

I've lived here over 16 years, my wife was born and raised here and never moved away. Her dad was born and raised here and never moved away. The growth has ruined this town. Period. There's nothing unique left in this town anymore.

    • @raadalawanrealtor

Nothing unique. Wurstfest, traffic circle, band stand, Christmas tree lighting, Christmas parade, Gruene, two rivers, German restaurants, hyper local businesses downtown, etc, etc, etc. Oldest bakery and dance hall in Texas. Country fair parade, award winning parks, the natural springs at Landa, friendly vibe. People waving un solicited. You're right, nothing unique. Please tell me how the growth has "ruined" this town. I'm good with your feedback, but please be more specific. Traffic? My wife also raised here. Is it the new people that sets you off? What is it exactly? Thanks

Growth is inevitable. The speed of government is slow so it will always lag behind and be frustrating and expensive. Everyone contributes to the growth of a community. Someone who is born in a community becomes part of the growth issue as soon as they, drive a car on the roads, move out and need housing and begin a family of their own. That person is no different than someone who comes from another community, impact is the same. Thank you Raad for the interviews and for your continued efforts.

      Freedom of speech it's called...
PEOPLE need to stay in their own native born & raised area & fix there issues there, not create issues for others native born homelands.
STAY OUT OF TEXAS, we Texas natives are now speaking out, we didn't used to because it wasn't that over populated.
      It's OUT OF control now!!!
There ARE massive amounts of rural areas one could restart.
