I was just there and I completely agree! In Magic Kingdom, they are super serious about crowd control, closing off entrances of the parks, there is absolutely no alcohol around UNLESS you make a reservation in advanced at one of their restaurants and sit down and have your drink, you have to pay an extra 25 dollars to even reserve for lighting lines so expect to pay extra costs, it’s way too crowded, Disney employees have tried to push me on expensive products excessively, there are WAY MORE PEOPLE and overall the vibe from Disney was quite uncomfortable. There’s less freedom and less freedom with your time. There are no smoking areas as well! Wow! Disney is a completely different place now since I’ve been. It was actually kind of stressful and I feel like I was able to accomplish a lot less with my time. I feel like there isn’t really as any “magic” in Disney anymore. When I was a kid it was amazing! But as an adult I just feel like Disney has gotten greedier and honestly, less enjoyable, but that’s the reality of Disney when you’re an adult I suppose.
I think that the other parks like Epcot are great though! :)
However, the employees don’t understand what a government issued military ID is there, so please don’t even try to use it despite the signs, just bring your state ID for less problems and confusion.

I agree, but I don’t think it’s necessarily Disney’s fault. The popularity of the parks is huge. They need better ideas but I bet corralling this many people every day is hard.

To be fair, while there is plenty to blame disney for, crowd size (other then making you have a reservation and locking you in before you can park hop at 1) is consumer demand and mostly out of disney control. They have raised prices to discourage visits (and pad their pockets) they have tried to add rules and limits to virtual queues.
Disneyworld from its inception was designed to pack as many people as they could in there. It could be argued that the ticket value now is a better value then when the park opened as there are far more rides and attractions in magic kingdom then when it opened and there are 3 other parks. During our trip last year I compared wait times in magic kingdom vs Disneyland thruout the day. One major surprise was that some rides are more popular in Florida then California and vice versa and the other was I never seen any ride wait time ever remotely reach the same length as disneyworld wait times. The longest wait time I saw at Disneyland was 90 minutes where many rides at Disney world were 2 hours plus.
All this shows that disneyworld is popular, consistently crowded, and would benefit from more attractions per guest ratio in all their parks at disneyworld, and it’s possible that the resort would actually benefit from a 5th gate. Or the other option would be a 3rd resort in North America. Actually a 3rd resort kinda makes more sense for several reasons, one major one being marvel content restrictions on disneyworld due to the contract marvel made with universal pre Disney ownership.
Honestly I don’t see any relief in the near future. Consumer demand doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon, due to financial struggles I don’t see Disney spending a ton of cash on anything after current renovations and additions are completed. It’s likely crowd levels, reservations, and high wait times will be the new norms, at least for the next few years.
I also doubt a 3rd North American resort or 5th gate will happen in my lifetime if ever. And unless and until Disney and Florida state government can find some level of understanding I see the state restricting a lot of new expansion to existing parks.
So what’s it all mean? We all are speculating at best. However, having been to Disneyland many times per pandemic and only once to Disney world post pandemic I can say my largest complaint was crowd levels. Second most irritating thing was requirement to make table service reservations so far in advance, and even then the reservations went quickly. And third biggest complaint was rude guests. While I met and talked to hundreds of amazing people from everywhere the rude entitled guests were most memorable and in some cases ruined the day. And I hate to say this but most of the rudest guests were Florida residents. In one case the father in one group informed us that we were ruining their fun, that we should slow them ahead of us because we weren’t from Florida and were less entitled to enjoy the ride then they were. Then he promptly knocked my sons phone out of his hand and stepped on it. Yes I complained, I’m not sure but I believe the party was ejected from the park, but it still ruined the day. And while that was the worst thing that happened to us stories similar were relayed to us. One poor disabled woman had a guest repeatedly ram their stroller into her leg to get her to move because they didn’t want to drive the stroller around her. I had the privilege of being detained by park security and asked to make a statement to park security.
So I’m not real keen on returning for a little while. My hope is that maybe crowd levels will recede a bit and I can determine a “slower” time to go the next time I visit. I know February supposedly is slower, as I know a family that visits 2 times a year once in February and another randomly thru the year. They went this year and they said it was as busy as it normally would be around Christmas! Every day. So yeah don’t know but trim will likely be at least 5 or 6 before I ever ride it.

Here in Shanghai, the seat restraints are much less intense (without sacrificing safety) and there’s no lockers at all. Instead, the cast member has a trolley that you place your stuff into right before you get onto the ride. That cast member and trolley are then waiting for you at the end and you can quickly grab your stuff and leave. The lines are also short because, for some reason, the local market here doesn’t love fast rides, so the line is always under half an hour.

I will say, Disney World is getting stressful. Went with just me and my wife and while genie plus and all that worked great for us, I hated the fact that I literally had to bring a power bank in my bag so I could keep my phone charged because of how often I had to be on it to get everything. Oh, and Pirates at Shanghai Disney was out of this world, I had never actually been on the one at Magic Kingdom until a couple years later and was blown away how much more fun the one at Shanghai Disney was.

I feel that Disney could have gone big on this and made it a longer ride like Guardians....then it would have been a satisfying sacrifice for queues and LL purchases.....I think this short ride will leave people feeling a bit sad,,,,that it just didn't give as much ...sort of like a bite of cotton candy...feels full and looks exciting then disappears all to quickly without a chance to really engage.....

Hey, I did the cast preview of this a few days ago!!! PLUS SIZE RIDERS, OR ANYONE WITH THICK CALVES, LISTEN UP!!!
When you sit in the ride, make sure your feet/shins are shifted *down* as much as they can be, because when you pull the handlebars up to you, that metal bar locks behind your knee (or, it's SUPPOSED to). At the 2:20 time stamp in the video, you can see what I'm talking about.
There are "test seats" outside in the queue-- USE THEM. You'll get an idea of how your legs need to be to avoid issues. If you get to the ride and something is uncomfortable, flag down a cast member before you take off, then can unlatch your ride restraints easily for you to readjust.
I have thick calves and my right leg has issues with extending fully, so my right calf was "pinched" between the shin guard and that metal rod, RIGHT where you get Charlie horse cramps. The ride isn't very long, and once we hit those ~60mph speeds, I didn't notice it as much... But I am still bruised by it, and it was very uncomfortable, quite a bit painful during my ride.
Don't be like me lol, learn from my mistakes. ♡

As a Disney fan, I have no qualms about Tron Lightcycle Run being built in WDW. My only issue though is that it was built in the wrong park as Tron Lightcycle Run should have been built and placed in Epcot (because there's a lot of history and cross promotion of Epcot connecting with the original Tron, such the original going into the grid sequence being used in several Epcot/Future Wolrd dark rides and shows.
Guardians should have gone to the Magic Kingdom as Guardians of the Galaxy would have fit the 1990s theme of MK's tomorrowland, a city that never was (plus space bounty hunters!)

rode this ride for the cast member preview, I thought the the setting was WAY more comfortable than what most people thought, it felt natural and very smooth. It’s not jerky nor did it give me pain after riding. Rode it twice from back to front, the front is by far the best seat available (obviously). You don’t need to know tron to understand to ride; it’s very straightforward. The ride is quick, as mentioned above, but will most definitely be a virtual queue, as the actual queue is not big enough to hold the amount of people wanting to. for the locker, make sure not to have ANYTHING sticking out or caught in the door of the locker unless you want to have a cast member help you unlock the other side of the locker. The ride is great, thrilling, however not the scariest nor the fastest, it’s unique, smooth and different. Happy riding!

There have been a few papers about roller coasters and they state, that your more scared getting locked into the seat on a roller coaster than you are during the entire ride. If that's true, they should just offer a seated ride that makes scary noises as you are being locked in, then just releases you and you go on with your day. So much cheaper to construct, plus lots more guests per hour could "ride" it. LOL

I rode Tron at Magic Kingdom on November 2, 2023. It's a great ride, but you should be aware that access to it is severely limited. There was no "standby lane" to get on the ride, and all the available free "Lightning Lane" slots filled within minutes of them opening at 7am and 1pm on the Disney app. I wound up buying a pass to get on the ride for an extra $20. My alternative was to not get on the ride at all, so I paid the extra money on top of my park ticket. I'm not thrilled about that, but it is a unique ride experience.

I agreee the ride was visually cool, but it was not thrilling (except for the launch) you do some curves but there were no major drops or flips....just angled speed. It felt like a more boring version of the guardians ride at epcot....I wanted SO desperately to love this ride but it didn't compare at all to space mountain in my opinion. My boyfriend was also mad because he found the ONE shirt in all of Disneyworld that he loved but was told at checkout it was for passholders only (no posted sign or sticker) it just had "pass holder" in the mixed print of the shirt (was all words on the shirt). All around we were just very disappointed....

Sure you miss out on Star Wars and things but Jesus Christ the hassle and stress of Disney is insane. You have to wake up at 7 am to book your favourite ride in which you may or may not get an early booking. Have to wait every 2 hours to book a new ride you are constantly on your phone stressing about wait times fast pass bookings and organising things to minimise walking (which is impossible) and waiting till 1 exactly within seconds to enter the virtual que for guardians and tron. You get in the lightning lane and immediately are mixed with the regular line almost feeling like a scam.
