Thank you very much indeed for the inclusive review and excellent summary of the Io's features. Just picked up a 2nd hand Rega Io wired for use in the US (115VAC). The 3.5 mm headphone jack is relay activated, and provides current protection via series connected 109 Ω resistors. Dynamic driver headphones may have frequency response variations due to varying voice coil impedance. Planar magnetic headphones don't have such problems as their voice coils are rock solid (using Verum-1's w/ excellent results).
I have one along with Rega Planar two and iFi Zen DAC Bluetooth receiver along with Q Acoustic floorstanding speakers. I have a huge through lounge with high ceilings . This amp is incredible. Fills the room. Do not hesitate. Replace your rubbish amp with all the flashing lights with the io with its emphasis on sound and not looks.
Hi! I have also a long livingroom (aprox 60sqm) and I just bought the MA Silver 200 (6g). Do you think that this amp is ok? I’m still trying to get the budget for the Elex-R. But I cannot demo at home any of them here in Romania and I was wondering how much of a difference is between them and which one is the best for my speakers. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!
I bought my original Naim Nait back in 87 for $525 The price has increased significantly since then. What Rega brought to the market 34 years later is this great sounding little io amplifier surprisingly affordable and good value at $595
I got one of these from yourself along with the P2,very happy with the service & products. It would be great to see a review on the Rega Kyte speakers aswell
Class D best amp for me is the Primare i25 Prisma, sounds super detailed in combination with focal chora816 is a perfect match. only the amplifier is super expensive. € 3500, - I was lucky, it was for sale as a demo for € 2700, - and traded some more in the end only paid € 1700, -
Got mine this week the iec connecter mains lead was made in China and was that loose if you pulled the amp forward it would come out not good I found an old audiolab iec lead I,d had for years and that was nice and tight just be aware of it if you get one.
Some of these Chinese power leads supplied with kit use aluminium coated copper and actually have illegal Uk plugs and fuses! Although I’m not saying Rega would do this but definitely stuff from Amazon is well known for it.
Have I missed the answer to the question, "Is it a modern successor to the Naim Nait 1?" I was very curious and tried to find the answer in the video but could not find it. If it did, please let me know the time stamp on the video. I was looking for modern alternative to Naim Nait 1 hence intrigued...
I’m running the Rega IO with a rega P6 TT and focal Aria 906 speakers and looking to upgrade the amplifier. Would you stay with Rega and go Elex mk 4 or move to a naim nait 5si . PS I have a moon phono preamp form my old system.
I just bought the Rega IO to use while I wait for the Zen triode 34I.6 integrated amp. I'm trying to set up a new vinyl system, I can afford 1 Heresy III for now, and intend to be able to get a 2nd by the time the Decware Rachel is ready. Until Then can I run the I/O with just one Klipsch horn speaker in mono?
I really like watching your informative video's! I'm using a Rega IO myself, driving a pair of Dali Oberon 1 speakers, placed on Solidsteel SS-6 stands. I had a Brio-r in the past (prefer the IO though!) and discovered that the Brio-r was very well capable of showing some sonic difference between mains cables. Therefor I was wondering: do you have experience with certain types/brands of mains cables as a possible sonic upgrade for the little IO ?
@@misterchuck6866 Yes, unfortunately that's true. (however, I have no regrets and I'm amazed how well the little Dali's sound on the SS-6 stands. (and driven by the Rega IO)
Thanks very much for the great review! I know I'm a bit late for this, but could you tell me if the IO is also acceptable to use with the Apollo? Also, which small speaker would you recommend for it? Thanks very much in advance.
I've sold Apollos an IO together, it does work well ..... speakers depend on room and budget really .. the IO seems to match Fyne Audio well for example.
Why don't you tell us which speakers you ran it with? Presumably, as you've got those huge Fyne audio floor standers behind you, you tried it with those. Please tell us how did it do?
Hi! Thank you for this great review. May I kindly ask you which amp, including from Rega, would you recommend for the Monitor Audio Silver 200 (6g), in a long living room (approx 60sqm). I’m not looking for loud auditions but something that would sound great at low levels too. Thank you!
Yes, it works very well... I use an old Brio on my TV at home. A good stereo amp can sound better with films than a mid range AV amp, much better clarity and dynamics. If your TV doesn’t have a stereo output you may need use ‘optical’ out into something like an Ifi DAC to convert it to stereo first...
@@cheshireaudio thanks for replying yes I have a oled TV so it has an optical input. I stumbled across your channel during lockdown and I love your enthusiasm and passion I'm back buying records but no TT!! Saving my pennies and I intend visiting yourselves. Thanks for replying
It will drive them ok, the Tablettes probably need a bit more current, but it should sound pretty good until you upgrade ... see if you can borrow an Elex at some point to try with them
It’s in the video... hidden amongst the waffle.... very natural sound I.e no overblown bass or over accentuated treble, most of its competition sound bland and uninspiring by comparison... I purposely don’t try to describe sound quality too much, as phrases can be misinterpreted... the video is mainly trying to encourage people to listen for themselves based on its back story and my enthusiasm for it. I’ve done a lot of demos of kit over nearly 40 years and I’ve learnt that too much talk beforehand can confuse... most people new to audio just want to know how much bass there will be... a good dem let’s you point out the important stuff
@@cheshireaudio I´ve heard de REGA IO, the sound is very clean, nice treble and accurate separation of instruments...for my not audiophile ears, lacks in bass area.

Sounds bloody brilliant with klipsch too
Thanks for the video I really love the simplicity of it , all that I would ever need is all there.

Do you hear any differince in sound brio r vs io? Banana plug doesnt fit on the io?
Yes, the io will accept banana plugs.

Very poor sound or reviewer needs to articulate more clearly.
