    Great Job! I was hired by some Amish Men to fix their driveways because every year for 3 or 4 years they have paid some guy to bring in more gravel and fill and level their pot holes and every few months the pot holes come back. I finally convinced them that if you didn't get under the pot holes and get rid of them they would keep returning. I only have a small BX 1880 with a FEL and a back blade but I was able to dig all of them out and for this entire Summer not one has returned. I'm sure the excavation company knew this but simply didn't care cause they were making money from these trusting people. I don't work my tractor even a fraction of what you do but it is so capable for it's size.

      That’s awesome man! I almost wanna say I remember you telling me about this job a year or two ago.. is this the same job? I’m glad to hear it worked out good and sounds like you did an excellent job too. It’s amazing how many big contracting company’s refuse to do the job right just so they can come back every 6 months to freshen it up again. That’s the same thing that happened to the owner of this driveway. When I was finished with the job I asked him how long it had been since it was last redone.. expecting him to say it had been many years he told me it was done just previously the year before and he said they never scraped it down the way I did and he thinks that’s why it never lasted.. I said surely that’s why! From now on he says he’s just gonna have me do it for him.

    Box blade would have done wonders here. I put off buying one for years and regretted it once I got one. Even though you are a master with that bucket, the blade would have made quick work of that. Even a BXpanded piranha tooth bar would make a HUGE difference in the work you do. You should consider either of those if finances allow. Great work!

      Thanks man! How many hours do you have in the seat of your Kubota? Iv got about 1,000 hours in the seat of my machine so that helps a lot. But I also have many hours on other various tractors and equipment too. I’m sure your jobs turn out just as nice by the sounds of it! Stay safe!

    You did a good job biff, and you are very thorough when you work on stuff a lot like myself. I wish I would have bought that bx tractor I saw at Richie brothers it only had 300hrs with a fel and backhoe all in great shape, sold for 8 k, def kicking myself for that

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  Місяць тому +1

      Hey buddy! Thanks I appreciate it. Man for 8k that’s a great deal if it came with the FEL. I see them from time to time on market place for around 10-15k but every so often I’ll see one for 7,200-8500 and with a loader and belly mower that’s a STEAL. Some day I’d like to buy a B2601 or an LX series Kubota. If like to get something a little bigger for some of the larger jobs I get.. I’d hate to trade my bx in though as it’s PERFECT for most the jobs I do size wise and doesn’t leave ruts in the early spring or late fall like larger tractors would. Some day I’ll get a compact/mid size machine as a seconds
      Best of luck on your searches!

    Hi Biff....You should just go buy the Bolt On Cutting Edge from Kubota. You have the holes in your bucket already. Mine was about $125 (5) years ago.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  20 днів тому

      Hey Stewart thanks for watching. You’re right I should.. For years I was gonna build my own but for that price it may not even be worth it because a piece of hardened flat stock steel is prolly over $100 and then I’d still have to cut a 45 degree angle on the end and drill the holes so I prolly will end up going with the Kubota one. When I do get one I’ll be sure to make a video on the install!

    I subscribed a while ago and have missed a few videos. You used to be in a wooden shed. My BX collection has been growing. ( I think we use the same dealership). I got a BB1248 from Larry and a SPL0548 from Lynn. I will try to catch up that Ebay rear cylinder looks interesting.

    • @Ron-0417
      @Ron-0417 Місяць тому

      I bought my BX from Larry. I really wish I hadn't. Got grumpy when I asked for a better price off list, but he did throw a hat in for free. WOW. After I paid and picked it up, he didn't want to know me. I had a problem the first week, and went and talked to him, and he got an attitude about it. He NEVER once called to make sure everything was good with it after that. When I talked to people thinking about going there, I tell them not to deal with Larry.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  Місяць тому

      Haha yes you’re right! It’s been quite awhile since I worked out of my small wooden shed tho, I’m glad you could make it back! You have a lot to catch up on.
      I have talked to Larry before, never dealt with him personally though. Hope you been doing well! That rear hydraulic cylinder was a cylinder I pulled off an old new holland snow blower to use as a hydraulic top link. • @rons3507
    @rons3507 Місяць тому +2

    Nice work. I have to ask, with the amount of gravel driveway work you do have you considered a box blade? I have on for my sub compact and it is perfect for these kinds of jobs.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  Місяць тому +2

      Hey Ron! Great question! Yes I use to own a grader box actually.. you can see it on the top of my main UA-cam channel in the banner photo. I got rid of it though as it was a 6’er and was too cumbersome for the BX. I planned to replace it with a 4’er but never did. I do own a 5’ backblade though that I still use for driveway jobs from time to time but for this job I really wanted to tackle each pot hole separately with the bucket to dig them out as deep as I could before recovering them. A grader box would worked well too specially because of the scarifiers!

    • @rons3507
      @rons3507 Місяць тому

      Yeah I can see where a 6 footer would be too big. Just like me, I have had plans to buy attachments for years but just haven't done it for one reason or another.
      Thanks for the videos, hope to see more.

      Hey Jason! So when I first started making videos I was using just my iPhone.. it worked great besides the fact that I often needed to use it during a job.. and getting the videos onto a windows pc was always a nightmare so I did all the editing off the same phone.. after awhile I bought a hero 7 black, that was the most reliable camera I ever had for many years.. I then bought a hero 9 black years later which was a total POS.. I threw it against a tree and broke it with in the first 2 months of owning it.. never used it again after that and was GLAD I smashed it lol.. absolute JUNK. Was brand new too. Then about a year ago maybe less I switched to a DJI osmo 4.. that things been great.. more reliable than my hero 7 was which is impressive and then battery life is insane.. came with 3 battery’s and an easy to charge carry case. I’ve been using that in all my recent videos.. also external microphones connect to it with no extra hardware. The only thing I don’t like is that the audio isn’t quite as nice as it was on my old hero 7 or hero 9 blacks.. the hero 8 black is a good camera.. just don’t ever buy the hero 9.

    Is the inner air filter OEM or after market? It is a great idea. I have a Branson with 550 hrs. and an Allis Chalmers with 3100 hrs. and they don't have this. I think it is something I would add. You are still the FEL king.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  Місяць тому +1

      Hey Ed, so the inner filter does not come standard on my tractor.. most manufacturers only include the primary filter but will offer the secondary filter as an add on you can buy. You should easily be able to get one at your local dealer or Napa/auto parts store. Just give them the part number to your primary filter and tell them you’d like to buy the matching secondary filter that goes with it.
      Having a secondary filter is HUGE. I highly recommend it to anyone specially if you work in a dusty environment like I do. You can see just how much dirt and filth made it passed the primary filter because my secondary filter use to be bright white about a year or so ago.. just shows how important it is because with out it all those small particles would made their way only the engine.
      Let me know how you make out!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  Місяць тому

      Yes a box blade would have worked good as well.. through you’d have to be careful not to dig out the larger rock/base underneath with the scarifiers. I also don’t own a box blade anymore .. I sold it because it was a 5’er and was too cumbersome for the little BX .. always planned to buy a 4’ box blade but never got around to it. Thanks for watching! New video coming this weekend!
