I remember getting lost struggling to leave blighttown, reaching the elevator in New Londo anxiously holding onto my final estus. The joy and surprise to be back in Firelink, meeting familiar faces and soothing music playing as all the stress and suspense leaves my mind and my muscles relax. Those are the vibes I'm getting. Supreme work, thank you so much for a version this long. I'm looking forward to enjoying it time and time again! (also where the fuck is the firekeeper?)
Haha yes, I can totally relate. There's nothing quite like the feeling of relief after opening up a shortcut or fighting your way through an area only to emerge back at Firelink. Especially if you've been hit by one too many toxic darts on your way there! I'm really glad you like my rendition; I'd been thinking about what piece would be suitable as an extended version, and the ambient nature of this one really convinced me.
Btw the fire keeper is in a cave with metal bars that seclude her, beneath fire link, on your way to/from the elevator to New Londo. Across from where you find Lautrec for the second time. Btw, if you don’t kill him, he’ll kill her.
My favorite piece from Dark Souls 1. I love how the bass leads the melody on, twisting and untwisting the melody's movement. The odd rhythm keeps you suspended and lost in time. The diminished arpeggio at the end, unraveling the melody into a despondent gasp. Your performance captures all of it perfectly. This piece really shines on the harp! The character creator music in Elden Ring was beautiful too, but after all these years, this one still tops the list for me. Fantastic job. Edit: wait holy shit, that ending was so nice!
Thank you! This track is memorable because, despite the mellow instrumentation, I remember feeling a bit unsettled specifically by the rhythm at first. Then, when I began practicing it, I started to view it like you do, and the constantly moving notes were almost mesmerizing. It's always a little weird when a piece doesn't have a definitive ending and I have to come up with one myself, so I'm glad you like the way I ended it!
Peace. A dreaded, dark, mysterious peacefulness. One that speaks of emptiness, void, and darkness. As if adrift in a land of shadow and fire. Undead, reborn as a husk of your former self. You are, cracked, hollow. Gone forever.
A Harp should be considered a musical instrumental from the gods!! No matter what is being played, this instrument imbues celestial and majesterial beauty!!! I don't know where we all go when we die, but I'd like my playlist as my soul goes off to be accompanied by peaceful bangers and music like this!!
I'll never forget when I decided to let the menu keep playing the first time. I figured it was just this gorgeous loop, but the way it builds and builds and builds subtly. Brought tears to my eyes. Zelda is what made me a gamer, but it wasn't until Demon's Souls and Dark Souls until things came full circle and I realized just how important music and atmosphere is to me in games. Dark Souls 1 is the best game experience I've ever had and this song is something special(even if it is just a menu theme haha). I think the fact that music is only in the game for boss fights mostly is what makes this track so special. It completely conveys the game's.... mood?
Love these thoughts. Yeah, I agree I think the creator of this piece was doing something somewhat forgotten in the gaming industry and had a vision for their creation first, and then went back to revise how it would interplay with actual hours-on-end first time gameplay. I guess in other words I mean they found a way to fit the technical limitations of the game to the theme, rather than fit the theme to whatever technical limitations they had. But anyways, I think the result is something that appears to be a simplistic loop at first that is already quite an interesting timing and voicing of harp, but then when you listen to the subtle changes and additions to the arrangement, there's actually a whole lot of depth to the piece that fits the game's theme so well, it's almost hard to believe it was created for a seemingly innocuous part of the game, it feels like a hidden treasure and reward for the patient. For example the bells coming into the in-game version of the song could perfectly represent the bells of awakening
I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I bought this game in a depressive period. I only knew it was a hard game. The moment I heard this music I had a feeling this was gonna be a special game. And it truly is, sure it has its flaws, but the interconnectedness of the world is some of the best design I have ever seen. Easily beats any open world game by a landslide!
The nostalgia! The music and sound design are a big part of why Dark Souls 1 will always be my favourite; it always brings back the memories. I could listen to this for hours sounds so beautiful on a harp!
Thank you! It's crazy how even just the sound of pressing Continue or New Game is so memorable. And I'll never forget my most commonly heard sounds: the one my sword would make as it bounced off a wall, right before the whoosh of 'You died'.
"Isn't stressful" is an understatement!😂 I always thought that this tune is much more than just another cool video game OST. Beautiful playing, thank you.
I unfortunately never hear this piece for very long, because I always pick the Jubilant Catarina with the Red Bobbed hair, because that's about the goofiest character you can make without moving around the sliders. Ain't nobody got time for that, I'm fast as fuck, boi, and I have to kill a Black Knight for his Halberd 10 times in a row!
Wow great playing! I'm curious, what did you find the timing signature as? edit: I think what I mean is the timing of the notes, I still can't figure out how they fit into the actual time signature, but also can't even tell what that is.
Subbed after listening to this and song of lament and both are beautifully done, may I request for a bloodborne's "the first hunter" at some point? 🥺🥺🥺🥺
when did people start referring to this as A moment's peace? pretty much since this was ripped around release I've only ever seen it referred to Souls of Fire (which is the actual name, as far as I can tell)
I like all souls music, but I don't think I ever liked this song. Maybe in the character creator it just felt like an odd place for the song. You make it much more appealing.
Thanks; that makes me happy to hear! I'll be honest...while I felt like it was only natural to cover this particular track with harp, it only really started to grow on me once I began practicing it. So I get it!
I have not found one person who did a harp cover of "song of despair" from Elden Ring. That, would sound amazing! I feel you could pull it off easily (future content?)
I feel peace
I'm glad! That's what I was going for :)
That's kinda the point
@@funnysoupman69shhhh! 🤫 just enjoy it. 😁
The journey is long. Rest here with me for a while, weary traveler. The fire is warm and the harp is soothing, may it fill your soul with courage.
S.t.a.l.k.e.r players and Dark Souls players when they see a bonfire : 🤝
Be safe, friend. Don’t you dare go Hollow.
"Thou hast journey'd far, and overcome much, chosen Undead. Come hither, child..."

the guy in golden armor murked her
This song and this game will always be special to me. A bright spot in a bleak part of my life.
i feel the same way
It just occured to me that "A Moment's Peace" has similar energy to Resident Evil 1's "Save Theme". Great cover by the way!

Leyndell's music when you first arrive is in this realm of god tier music!!

Thank you for making this, sincerely.
Love the cover but couldn't help but notice how well you recreated Sean Bean's face in the creator, that's a fine effort.
God this is genius.
Praise The Sun ❤
Honestly probably how long I took to make my character at a minimum! Thank you for this

@@AnnaEllsworthMusic I guess
Wait are you actually playing this?
Yes! I thought it'd be good to show how a harp sounds when it isn't being used as a controller haha
What kind of harp is this?
我喜歡妳😚
This game has influenced you hasn't it?
Thanks for a great performance. (with thanks from the author.)
