Have you ever checked out the vlog of Greg Judy? If not check him out? Does rotational grazing and doesn't raise crops. Very interesting how he believes in just grass and some hay. I don't farm anymore but if I did I would be using his breeding stock and his ideas about using grass. Check it out pretty interesting and he says very profitable.
Yes I have seen his stuff. The full on intensive rotational grazing would be very difficult with the terrain here. We live beside a ski hill, that's how steep our hills are. That and the trees make it difficult. Or it could be I'm just lazy :)
Thanks for the response. No one knows your landscape better than you! I was thinking that you spreading manure and also feeding your cattle hay like you do helps you grow your pastures back. I dont think rotational grazing like Judy does would work on your site as you say. But it seems you have larger individual pastures than he does. Wonderful vlog and I'm glad I found it! I can tell you are not lazy infact just the opposite!
I saw your comment to another guy, I didn't realize you were north of Calgary. Its amazing how much of a difference there is in Alberta. Some day I would love to tour Alberta, maybe after the kids take over so I can leave the farm!
Grass looks good! Calves look good, especially that friendly heifer! (Any live calf looks good, even the "dinks", they still bring about the same at auction) It's nice to see some docile Angus!!! Too many are A-Holes😎 That hump the cows usually don't graze, might not taste as good as the rest, just gotta teach them to eat it... If the salt and tubs don't help, you might try broadcasting some red clover in there, that should make them want to eat that part 😁 thanks for the video!!
@@AlbertaRanch it's good for them to climb hills, adds muscle where the better cuts are, and helps keep the meat a little more lean, they will still marble good, just won't be full of fat. We have some flat ground, but most is hilly, the run we finish steers out in is on a hill, customers love it😁 Wonder what fescue it is??? So many different varieties anymore!!
Alberta Ranch I like to tease Terry about seeing the North Pole from his house 😉...and agriculture as we know it stopping at his property line 🙂. Thanks

@@AlbertaRanch was thinking about buying a ranch west of Pincher Creek .......is the area considered nice (I'm in B.C.)?
@@projectdesign4675 Very nice, little windy. I'm 400 kms north of that area so no expert here.
Its amazing how much more grass, even green grass you have than Anderson Cattle Co. Your pasture's look good
Ya, he's about 5 - 6 hours south of me. Different climate altogether.

It's got some kind of native fescue that they don't seem to care for. They also don't care to climb mountains :)

@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin It's not creeping red, cause they will chew that off to the dirt.
How far are you from Westlock AB? Good friend rancher from there. Gotta use the salt as a tool for good grazing 😉👍🏻
About 3 hours south of Westlock.

Nice looking bulls. Might need to start bring in some north of the border stock. lol
In the Angus breed all roads lead to SAV (Schaff Angus Valley) :)
