One of the best things about the novels is that RJ purposefully included people of all colors in the worldbuilding and cultures. It's nice that there's an opportunity for a show to be made that doesn't need to change the source material to include people of diverse backgrounds!
One of the best things about the world of WoT is that race does not even matter at all. It's never mentioned except when describing someone, copper skinned, dark complexion etc. People fight over cultures mainly, and other ideas. Reading it as a 12 year old before really knowing how awful people could get over perceived differences was really nurturing.
I can only assume that the novels themselves were worth a read, because the trailer just looks so generic to me, especially having gone 6 episodes into Foundation which completely blew me away. Earthsea is a diverse IP too, and unlike here the main focus character of the first novel is not white.
He also made the inhabitants of certain countries all look the same. For instance, Carhienins were all short, dark-haired, and fair-skinned. Every single Carhienin in the books fell into this description, from Talmanes to Daighien to Moiraine. The people from the Two Rivers all had dark hair, dark eyes, and light olive skin tone (lighter than Aiel, but enough blush brightly). Rand was the exception, and he stood out because of it. The Aiel, Domanis, Saldeans, and Sea Folk were all recognizable by their race. Some countries, such as Tear or the Seanchan Empire, explicitly had a variety of racial looks. The inhabitants of the other countries in the Westlands were almost always described as having Caucasian eye colors and/or hair types, although many times descriptions of characters were racially ambiguous. I get that there are practical and political barriers to casting to the descriptions in the books, the biggest one being that Rosamund Pike does NOT look like a Carhienin. If they wanted Shienar to be like Japan, could they get away with casting only East Asian extras? I know they couldn't get away with casting only Caucasians extras in one of the WOT countries without a hue and cry from activists. Nonetheless, it does stretch the suspension of disbelief when a tiny isolated village has a rainbow of people living in it. Many people, myself included, find it hard to believe that the Two Rivers people wouldn't all look the same after three thousand years of isolation. Heck, three centuries should be enough. But I guess if Rand stood out so suspiciously, then there would be no mystery as to who the Dragon Reborn was.
@@aaronc4899 I'll fight back a bit on the Two Rivers being a tiny isolated village. Manetheren fell 1200 AB so that's roughly 1800 years before the start of the story right. Manetheren being one of the Ten Nations grew because of it's mining in the Mountains of Mist and quickly attracted all kinds of people all over so it was guaranteed a mish mash there. Out of the survivors after it fell that stayed we already have a diverse set of population. Add into the mix people that leave, come back with outlanders like Tam, intermingle with other villages since there are several in the Two Rivers, one of which is Tarens Ferry which is said to mingle with outlanders quite a bit. Others villages are not mentioned much so who knows. Over those 1800 years I don't think everyone will look exactly the same and given their origins neither should they, a lot of genetics around there and they are not THAT isolated. Now if I see a sea folk running around I'd be surprised but what I saw from the trailer wasn't that stretching of belief.
In the series it's very naturally diverse. The author specifically created a world where racism doesn't exist and all conflict is based on cultures. Oh, and the female and male leads are split pretty evenly.
I've been thinking about it and you might be right. At least there is absolutely no discrimination based on skin color or appearances. Everything is about 'how your country made you' and 'how your country f*cked up'.
@@aylinpatacsil846 Absolutely! It's all about Illianers hating Tairens, rather than being based on skin colour. I suppose partly because colonialism hasn't really happened here.
Without spoiling anything, let it be said that all 5 main characters each have EPIC story arcs in their own right. Let’s hope the show is good enough and attracts enough of an audience that we get to see it through to the end.
What drew me to this series is the magic system. Incredibly complex, detailed and relatable. Like a real world skill, like singing or drawing. Some people can't, some people are born with it, and some can learn it. Some are so powerful, while others are so weak. There's even an author's 60+12-level tier list of power and strength so readers can have a guide to character ability, why this fireball is tiny, why this wind is so strong, why it takes three... or thirteen people to face one, etc.
The books definitely cover different cultures and races. Everyone area has their own unique ways/looks. And everyone will soon learn why women are the power players when it comes to magic use.
Yeah that's what worries me about The Wheel of Time show is that people who never read the books & are not familiar with the lore will see the trailers and automatically start thinking that because women are the only ones who can use magic in the show that it's all Mary Sue & SJW crap which it definitely isn't. I hope those people realize that The Wheel of Time books have been around since The '90s long before those phrases first began popping up and that there's a deep rich mythos to this story & a compelling tragic reason as to why very few male mages exist in The Wheel of Time universe.
@@DragonHeart613 My co-worker watched this and rolled his eyes and turned it off about halfway in saying "I'm not watching another "women are bad ass" tv show shoving it down my throat along with a heaping helping of diversity", I proceeded to tell him that this is EXACTLY how the books are. The story had a diverse cast of characters and the story elements make sense as to why these "women" are in charge. He decided he's going to watch the first 3 episodes when they come out. YAY
It's the most EPIC fantasy ever written, the world building is unparalleled....but at 14 big books + a prequel it's a serious commitment to read the books.
This is one of the best fantasy series ever written. It is grand in every sense the characters are great. The world, the magic is great. If done right it can surpass GOT and LOTR.
It looks cheap IMHO, I doubt it will beat PJ's LOTR. GoT on the other hand was also cheap, but more to the point it was a bad adaptation of the books in too much of a hurry to get through the material and left probably a good half or more on the cutting room floor. The full ASOIAF properly adapted could have been truly amazing, rahter than the corrupted, brainless tits and ass show D&D made it into. Yes I know it had lots of that in the books, but that only makes the surplus so much more idiotic when those deviations/distractions were used in place of actual plot lines from the novels.
@@mnomadvfx - I disagree. For a TV show, GoT did not look cheap. We've never seen a TV show of that size and scale before. Of course LOTR will look better considering it's a movie with bigger budget. Also it would be dumb to fully adapt ASOIAF. There are so many open ended storylines, not even George RR Martin himself could finish it. It's been 10 YEARS since he finished his last book and we still haven't heard a word when Winds of Winter will be released. If the show creators adapted all the storylines from the book, they would have to make up even more stuff to finish the story. Having more stories doesn't make a product better, especially when there's no ending to it.
@@mnomadvfx Game of thrones was probably the most expensive show of all time, (at least when it was made). However the nature of adaptating something people thought unfilmable meant that even with such a big budget things had to be cut. While I didn't like many of the various omissions from the source material, I recognise that they were inevitable for practical reasons. You will get precisely the same with WOT, where entire books worth of material will need to be omitted. GOT still retained a huge amount of complexity from the original story. That's why it was so popular and won so many awards. Surely you realise that without D and D, there wouldn't be a push for fantasy shows on television. No WOT, no witcher, no Lord of the Rings tv show or anything else with such ambition. Television channels have only been willing to take a chance on complex fantasy because D and D proved that it is possible to successfully translate fantasy to television. When GOT started people were unsure if it would get a 2nd season. By the end it was the biggest show in the world, had entered the popular zeitgeist and influenced the entire industry. That's an incredible achievement. I hate that people who were disappointed with elements of the show fail to recognise this. Without D and D your entertainment options would be a lot more limited.
The shot of the armored soldier getting dragged down by his cape is showing him fighting an Aiel. The Aiel are absolutely the greatest fantasy culture of all time and I'm so so excited to see more people get to learn about them. Amazing trailer.
All 5 of them, along with a few that have yet to be seen, play very important roles in the whole series. (There are 2782 named characters in the series.)
The many ethnicities of The Wheel of Time hence the diversity: Andorans Aiel Cairhienin Ebou Dari Domani Saldeans Tairens Athan Miere Illianers Murandians Seanchan Kandor, Arafel, Shienar
The diversity of the world is true to the books. This isn't a typical high fantasy world where cultures have developed in isolation. It's a post apocalyptic one, where the nations and cultures in it are descended from a far more advanced, world spanning, multi cultural society.
It is and I love it but in books you were able to recognize Two-River people but what we have seen even that small village is very diverse. SPOILER: I loved when people moved to Two-Rivers and THEN it became diverse and there were lots of different LOOKING people. Each trailer so far looks like that already so how will they pull that in the show?
I mean, kind of. It's 3000 odd years since the breaking so whilst there are a diverse range of peoples, the nations themselves are largely monocultures at this point, particularly the more remote areas like Emond's Field. For instance the Carhienin are short, the Aiel are pasty gingers, the Sea Folk are dark skinned, and Two Rivers folk (who are the main characters in this series) are at most tanned. I don't mind that they've recast these characters for the show and it would be easy to describe it as just another turning of the wheel so appearances will be different, but it's also a bit of a lie to present this casting as accurate to the books.
@@EstyVids the Aiel are a special case in that they have a very specific origin which explains their lack of diversity. They are also far more isolated than every other nation in the world. The sea folk are similar, in that their culture and Island base have isolated them from other nations (even if not quite to the same extent as the Aiel). The populations of every other nation have mixed to a greater or lesser extent ever since the breaking (and before), due to trade, migration, war and politics. Even in a backward area like the 2 Rivers there is an expected level of diversity in the population. Elaida says as much when she first meets Rand.
@@WMfin They messed with the diversity because then all of the leads in season 1 other than Lan would be white. Moiraine talks about how strong the Old Blood is in the trailer and it doesn't even make sense because they clearly do not have a pure bloodline. It actually would have made more sense for them to just all be one race, even a non-white race, other than Rand.
@@Sleeptastic Exactly. I love diverse fantasy worlds like Wheel of Time has. But this kind of diversity with no logic to it breaks the immersion quite a bit.
hmmm, R F...is that you rafe? rafe fudkins? lol just kidding yeah if anyone is interested in a spoiler free explanation of whats going on, thats a good video to check out. But in case you are rafe i must confess I am a longtime fan of the book series (wheel of time is my lord of the rings/harry potter/game of thrones i guess) and I am absolutely giddy that the show adaptation seems to be headed in the right direction. great cast, big budget, love the mix of practical effects where possible with CGI when necessary, sets and locations are epic, and the tone feels spot on...im so pumped for this show!
This is a lot better than the first trailer. If I could describe Wheel of Time to a non-reader I would say it is like a Western Final Fantasy story. Lots of characters, lots of stories going on all at once, but there is an overarching goal.
The Trollocs (monsters) are apparently mostly costume. The showrunner in an interview said that they actually ended up being realistic enough they were able to repurpose some of their VFX budget for other things.
The very beginning of the series is like LOTR, it pays homage to it, and then it tells its own amazing story, so not a copy of LOTR if anyone is thinking.(This I heard from fantasy fans)
It's an incredibly diverse story that they don't need to fill a quota. Just need to follow the source material All 5 are incredibly important characters in their own right
Sadly, from the looks of it, they "fill the quota" in the worst possible way. So many kingdoms that could have been given their identity. The town many of the protagonists come from is suppose to be super isolated, and it's a very important part of the story. That they are so "diverse" is just weird, and just signals the producers care more about making something bland and inoffensive, than something true to the sourcematerial. And it's very worrying.
**SPOILERS** @@AlexanderForsman have you actually read the books? We are in an age following a breaking of the world. The age before was super modern with vehicles and technology, therefore the world was very diverse and mixed. It makes total sense that the human societies would be left in that way following the breaking. You clearly just have an issue, I can't possibly fathom why it is "very worrying" as you put it. Sad.
@@lukefrayling6792 the world broke more than 3000 years before the current setting, even if they would have been diverse at one point, there would be no trace left of that now...
The beautiful thing about WoT is that the world is (not spoiling) post apocalyptic and not medieval- so all the people, cultures and tech are very mashed up and partially destroyed/mended together.
Funny thing is in the books there were three candidates, not five. And it was never a mystery to the reader as to who was the chosen one. Looks like they are going for the mystery aspect hard.
I mean, it's probable I would say that it will get revealed who the dragon is somewhere towards the end of this season I would say, so not that far from the books, where we really got to know who it was a bit into the storie.
My only fear, and I have so much doubt that they would do this, is the writers pull the ol switcheroo and change the story to include their backstory to fit it so its not who it is in the book. I know its highly doubtful they will do it, but its an itch that just won't go away.
@@MoreIrrelevantTwaddle Na they won't do that. It would tank show. Even this is a huge contradiction to lore and the books a Jordan has stated before that the with reincarnation in the Wheel, gender cannot change. The soul always remain. So all the heroes of the horn and everyone else who reincarnates is always the same gender.
This is so great because you haven’t read the series and so we get to hear a perspective uncolored by knowledge. Please keep reviewing the series as we go forward.
Don't read the book before watching the show if you want to keep the surprise of who the "Chosen One" is. The book makes it pretty obvious from the get go who it is. I think they are working hard to keep the viewer guessing in the show.
Costumes can still be used and look cinematic - case in point Stan Winston's amazing body of work. Sadly this does not look cinematic, especially compared to Foundation.
Robert Jordan was a huge Tolkien fan, but wanted to make a more modern fantasy and get away from many of the tropes in older fantasy. The series is 15 amazing books. The biggest critique of the 1st book years ago was that it was too much like LOTR. But he did that on purpose. The 1st book was his nod to Tolkien and then he took it in a much different direction.
The books are diverse too & probably has humans who don't look like us because humans were scattered all over the land in random groups to survive in a past cataclysm. Robert Jordan used inspiration from cultures & religions from all over the world.
The Wheel of Time is an absolute beautiful story. There is some real magic in those books. It is a story of duty, sacrifice, and perseverance of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity. A story as old as time. The world building is second to none. The battles intense. RJ was a chopper gunner in the Vietnam War and he knew how to bring his experience to the page. I implore everyone to give the books a read.
Wheel of Time, according to me is one of the best written fantasy novels out there... If the series can actually do justice to it, then it can easily surpass LOTR... w.r.t the main characters, all of them have major roles to play in the plot and they become the plot drivers with each of them having their own full fledged story.. Of course the chosen one is gonna have a bit more screen space..
One of the best reactions from non-readers of the books! The right questions asked and I feel the excitement from you for the show! Can't wait for November 19!
Love your review of the trailer :) I've been finding non-reader reactions to the trailer because the story really is magical in how it draws people in, and it's always amazing to see how people become drawn into the world. The books are that good. The show looks great and if the writing can match the cinematography, the show should pull people in with epic force, too!
I love you coming at this from a non reader standpoint. Let's just say in this world being the profecied potential savior is Not a desirable thing on any level really. The one who is destined to become the champion of the light is a massive target for all the forces of evil and since the prophecy basically says there's like a 70% chance they might totally wreck the world instead of saving it not that many people are keen on this prophecy playing out. Most people in that world don't see them as a savior type character as much as a harbinger of the apocalypse.
Yeah, the monsters are all guys in suits touched up with CGI. Though, rumor is the suits looked so good that they relocated a SIGNIFICANT amount of their CGI budget to other stuff. "... as opposed to being a virtue signal." Makes complete sense.
If this is 10% as good as the books then we are in for a hell of a treat! I'm super excited! I started the books in the early 90s and finished them in 2013. Over 20 years of following this epic series and it's so dang good!
Actors who truly embraced their Characters: 1- Chris Evans as Captain America 2- RDJ as Tony Stark 3- Ryan Renolds as DeadPool 4- Hugh Jackman as Wolverine 5- Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow 6- Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby 7- Heath Ledger as Joker 8- Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter 9- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
What I don’t understand is how can it be one of the five that faces the dark one? In the book it’s one of the three boys because the dragon is a male and it’s him who destroys the world at the beginning and fated die fighting the dark one. Disclosure didn’t finish the wheel of time got to book 9 I think.
The Dragon's "soul" is reborn into the Dragon Reborn...the body of the Dragon can be a male or female. It's been a while since I got super into the source material but I think the books even reference female dragons in the past
@@jonl4485 but that can't be right that would undermine the underline narrative of hunting men down to gentle them from madness and the dragon had gone mad and destroyed everything in a former life, the women did not got mad from the tait from the dark one. if the dragons a woman that will undercut all of the first half of the books about cleaning the source for men for the last battle. This makes me worried that bad writing if that's in the trailer because that's a base to much of the story and she knows she looking for a boy, that would make the vast amount of the books pointless.
As someone who has read these books, I'm very excited for this show to come out. I hope Amazon does the books justice. This is a huge saga that spans 13 books. I believe the first season is covering the first two books. Seems like a lot to chew on for one season, but I remain optimistic. There is definitely a "one", but I wouldn't focus too much on that. Many main characters have huge roles to play in the story, including characters that aren't introduced yet until future books. :) There is a lot of story to tell and the opening acts are almost like a warm up for things to come. The books showcase different cultures, so glad to see Amazon seems to have gotten this right.
I read the entire saga in the early 90s and I have said for 30 years that if they EVER did a series and put real money into it...it would be a gamechanger! GoT did it first and thats fine as they have laid the groundwork for this to be made.
Didn't thought you would react to WOT. The first book in the WOT series is supposed to be homage to LOTR so you will see some resemblance in the 1st season but the series become its own from book 2.
Not as much woke as cutting through the bullshit of differences. Learn to accept we are all different and work together - told through people believing in those differences and seeing the chaos that ensue because of it.
@@identity5196 i was being a bit snarky but what i meant was that 1 women are powerful figures in their own right and not a male accessory. 2 the society is a post racial society with non-white characters being a dominant presence. Rand isn't white for example which was unheard of at the time.
@@alananimus9145 Yeah I figured what you meant, woke label just carries a lot of negativity so figured I'd clarify. Everyone else from Two Rivers however, certainly not white.
as a long term fan of the Wheel of Time, it is interesting to see the reactions and theories of those who have never read the books. Funny you compare it to Lord of the Rings, as that was specifically the jumping off point for the Author
LOTR was built on ancient Norse and Northern European myths. Wheel of Time is a combination of many things from many different places. Really looking forward to the adaptation taking life. Big fan of the book series.
I'm currently on book 4 of the series, and absolutely loving it. And since you are the kind of readers/viewers who love some good character work, you'll definitely love it too. You should definitely check it out. And yes, it is VERY female-led, (lore spoiler) it's mainly because men who could use magic (The One Power- in the story) were responsible for a big disaster called "The Breaking of the World", so there is a lot of female gender bias going on, and women often refer to men as "fools", "wool-headed lummox" (I really like that one). P.S. Please please please make episode reactions for this
You know what this means? You must read the first book if you want your questions answered. The first season may not answer the ones you want at first. (Plus the books are great).
Welcome to The Wheel of Time! The series was strongly inspired by Lord of the Rings, but by book 4 is really becoming its own story. It is much more realistic than Lord of the Rings, and characters are very human, with all the types of problems one might expect in real life. The diversity in Wheel of Time was very natural and never felt forced or contrived. All 5 of the main characters have important roles in the story.
I'd also add that the author's life influenced his viewpoint on LOTR (which was the blueprint and so publishers needed any fantasy to follow the "rules" it established), so many differing cultures and pov. The biggest takeaway for me was that Jordan said he thought back to his childhood as a rural farm area kid, and if Gandalf had shown up at his house and told him he needed to come have an adventure to save the world, he'd say "no". This is the grounding for a more realistic dynamic and growth for the characters.
It seems to me that the designs of the Trollocs (monsters) are based on the "Krampus" we have here in Austria! But while reading that was basically always what I imagined them looking like. The books are great btw!
I don't want to spoil anything for you. I would suggest that you read these books. They are not perfect, but overall amazing nonetheless. There is good in-world justifications for the 'female primacy' that you have heard about. It's not contrived at all, imho. There is also, perhaps a bit ret-conned, justification for the racial diversity that is also not contrived. One of the things that Jordan does well is develop fantasy cultures. It seems as if they are taking the cultural nuances seriously. Should be immersive viewing. There is, of course, a portion of the fan base that wants this series to be done exactly as it was in the books. We all know that's not possible. It seems that they are making intelligent choices in what to cut and what to modify. They are using practical effects and touching up with CGI. Thank goodness. My only big criticism is the look of the magic use. I had something entirely different in my head, but if that's the only big thing I think I can live with it. Translating the magic was always going to be a challenge. Please take the time to read it. If you like fantasy you will definitely enjoy it.
If you like LOTR you are gonna like this too. Just don't try to read before the release of the series. And don't watch or read any spoilers or explanation. WOT is very diverse. You have all sorts of people from all over the world. It's how RJ wrote it.
The other 4 (that are not the chosen one) have a huge rol in the story. Actually Game of Thrones (the books) is in part inspired in this Saga (R.R.Martin has said it) and you will see that all characters are important, all their journeys are paramaunt once they divide. Its gonna be epic!! Cant wait
In the Wheel of Time world, it's important to understand that it's NOT set in a "Medieval" world. It's set in a world that was much like ours (except with magic), which then had a cataclysmic "breaking of the world." You may even say a post-apocalyptic world. People were dispersed & mixed, land masses shuffling... so the diversity & cultural shuffling is, appropriate.
If you want diversity in the Cast you have definitely come to the right place, the 7 main Characters are played by A white English Woman a Korean An Indigenous Australian A New Zealander of Maori descent An Englishman of African decent A white Englishman A White Dutch Man
Do not google ANYTHING about this show if you don't want spoilers. Autocomplete will ruin MASSIVE plot lines for you. I think the "which one of the 5 is it" will likely be done really well in the show and googling (or maybe even just reading youtube comments) may ruin it for you.
In my opinion, The Wheel of Time was the greatest fantasy series of all time. Just the scope of it puts most other fantasy series to shame. The series spanned 14 novels, with a prequel and 2 companion books. Please, tell me, has there been any other fantasy series that has spanned 17 novels or more? And I'm talking about 1 story, with each novel taking place directly after the previous one? Has there been any other fantasy series with more characters than the Wheel of Time? I can attest that this series also has very strong female characters. The only series I can think of that has this many main characters would be A Song of Fire and Ice books. But The Wheel of Time series started way before A Game of Thrones. And I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying that each of the 5 young characters all become main characters and the story keeps alternating between them. Moraine is probably the main character of the first book, but the story progresses with each of the young characters becoming more and more important and central to the story. If you like fantasy stories and have not read The Wheel of Time, I urge you to read it immediately. Try to read the first book before this series premieres! You would be doing yourself a disservice by watching this series, without having read the source material.
The five young people who might be "The One" all find themselves with vvery IMPORTANT roles to play as the story plays out over the 14 novels (each one a huge doorstop of a book)....each one will bring something amazing and different to the fight. Rand alThor, Perrin Aybara, Matrim Cauthon, Egwene al'Vere, and Nyneave al'Meara...they will all play a part with the help of Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike) and her Warder (a magically bound protector), Lan Mandragoran. As well, very few characters are even described as "white" in the novels...with all of the varied cultures and races, the "diversity" is inherent in the story itself. This makes the entire 'Wheel Of Time' series quite different.
Came back to this reaction now and wondered whether you actually watched the show? BTW the trailer to Season 2 just dropped and Season 2 will air on September 1st
One of the best things about the novels is that RJ purposefully included people of all colors in the worldbuilding and cultures. It's nice that there's an opportunity for a show to be made that doesn't need to change the source material to include people of diverse backgrounds!

Exactly, I remember seeing the cast reveal and I was not mad at the choices (except I expected Lan to be bigger)
YAY
Funny thing: There’s one “Chosen One” but… the Wheel weaves, and people caught up in the more important threads tend to end up being important, too.
The chose one is a big deal, but there are characters almost as big of a deal as the chosen one. Good point!
yes referred to in the series as ta'veren
Soooo... when are you guys gonna start watching it??
It's the most EPIC fantasy ever written, the world building is unparalleled....but at 14 big books + a prequel it's a serious commitment to read the books.
Wheel of time is set thousands of years in the future we are all meant to be mixed and very diverse ... it is not medieval it is postapocalyptic
14 books, fully completed, epic fantasy series. Here's to hoping they stay true to the source material. I want to love this.
Too bad that didn’t happen huh?
@@demetreusd.robysr.8446 yeah, it's a shame.
As a longtime fan of the book series it’s So awesome to see someone’s reaction from the outside.
@@mnomadvfx Dont worry, this is only season 1. Budget might get higher in the future
🤣🤣 not the best though
The shot of the armored soldier getting dragged down by his cape is showing him fighting an Aiel. The Aiel are absolutely the greatest fantasy culture of all time and I'm so so excited to see more people get to learn about them. Amazing trailer.
I think the Aiel are going to make a huge splash in pop culture. I can't wait.

SPOILER:
I loved when people moved to Two-Rivers and THEN it became diverse and there were lots of different LOOKING people.
IGN has a the Showrunner commentary of the Trailer. Is Juicy.
hmmm, R F...is that you rafe? rafe fudkins? lol just kidding yeah if anyone is interested in a spoiler free explanation of whats going on, thats a good video to check out.
Just need to follow the source material
All 5 are incredibly important characters in their own right
Sadly, from the looks of it, they "fill the quota" in the worst possible way.
**SPOILERS**
@@AlexanderForsman have you actually read the books? We are in an age following a breaking of the world. The age before was super modern with vehicles and technology, therefore the world was very diverse and mixed. I have seen a couple of reactions that think people will be jealous of not being the one. It's funny when you know what comes with that burden 😂
True... Half way through book 1, almost every one was certain who the chosen one is..
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS. MAN I was worried that all my favorite UA-cam reactors would be sleeping on this show. I'm SO happy that you're covering it!!!
The showrunner liked the monster costumes so much, they ditched CGI
Costumes can still be used and look cinematic - case in point Stan Winston's amazing body of work.
Sadly this does not look cinematic, especially compared to Foundation.
I would love to watch your reaction to this series 🥰🥰
The trollocs (monsters) are mostly practically done with guys in suits. And then touched up with CG
Glad you are reacting to this. The books are rated higher than Game of Thrones. Real talk!
They really aren't, but they are great reads in their own right.
Pls make a watch along reaction of The wheel of time series it will be fun😁
The Wheel of Time is an absolute beautiful story. There is some real magic in those books. It is a story of duty, sacrifice, and perseverance of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity. A story as old as time.
The world building is second to none. The battles intense. RJ was a chopper gunner in the Vietnam War and he knew how to bring his experience to the page. I implore everyone to give the books a read.
Having read all the books, it's great to see perspective of someone who knows virtually nothing about it.
Awesome video!
If you haven't read the books, they are a must for any fantasy fan.
This is amazing that you reacted to this. I've read all the books. It's beyond phenomenal.
If this is 10% as good as the books then we are in for a hell of a treat! I'm super excited! I started the books in the early 90s and finished them in 2013. Over 20 years of following this epic series and it's so dang good!

Have you guys been planning on making reaction videos for WoT?
Did you guys see professor?
Didn't thought you would react to WOT. The first book in the WOT series is supposed to be homage to LOTR so you will see some resemblance in the 1st season but the series become its own from book 2.
My favourite book series, I hope like hell Amazon don't screw it up cause this definitely has the potential to be EPIC.
Wheel of Time is one od the staples of fantasy. It's source material is "woke" and the show is just making people realize that. Jordan is a master.
Post racial society is very true in that it doesnt matter your skin color and Westlands has all kinds of groups around intermingling.

as a long term fan of the Wheel of Time, it is interesting to see the reactions and theories of those who have never read the books. Funny you compare it to Lord of the Rings, as that was specifically the jumping off point for the Author
LOTR was built on ancient Norse and Northern European myths. Wheel of Time is a combination of many things from many different places. Really looking forward to the adaptation taking life. Big fan of the book series.
Funny that you think any of them would want to be the chosen one, they all try desperately to avoid their destinies
Those are real practical affects for the Trolloc Horde they are showing
We are in for a wonderful treat if they continue to budget it properly. It's going to be a wonderful ride.
P.S. Please please please make episode reactions for this
If you read the books you will understand a whole lot more and just the amount of the world building is going on in the show.
You WILL be hooked. If you love high fantasy, you will love this series.
Great commentary from non book fans. Hoping you will love it!
glad you guys are reacting to it :)
If you like LOTR you are gonna like this too. Just don't try to read before the release of the series. And don't watch or read any spoilers or explanation. WOT is very diverse. You have all sorts of people from all over the world. It's how RJ wrote it.
in the books the other 4 are just as important as the chosen one.
Beyond hyped this is that book readers pay off.
Cant wait

Wheel weaves as the wheel wills
In the Wheel of Time world, it's important to understand that it's NOT set in a "Medieval" world.
It's set in a world that was much like ours (except with magic), which then had a cataclysmic "breaking of the world."
You may even say a post-apocalyptic world.
People were dispersed & mixed, land masses shuffling... so the diversity & cultural shuffling is, appropriate.
The books are just as diverse as the show! 😁😁😁
Do react to the other trailers as well plz!
It looks all right. I will not watch this until I read the books though.

2:26 Did anyone notice the professor from Money Heist ?

A white English Woman
a Korean
An Indigenous Australian
A New Zealander of Maori descent
An Englishman of African decent
A white Englishman
A White Dutch Man
Do not google ANYTHING about this show if you don't want spoilers.
Just Finished, Awesome
React to NR's Dune breakdown. There is some cool details. You two will love it.
Yeah glad the diversity felt this way to you, it’s actually true to the books. ❤️🔥❤️
no it isnt
You'd have a lot of reading, there are 14 books. very thick books!
U upload any video about the wheel of time, u get a like from me.
2:26 Did I just saw professor???😃😃😃😃
