I'm not a veteran, but my brother served. I agree with them that you shouldn't degrade anyone's service unless they start it. The fact that Trump dodged isn't inherently bad. The fact he was a Fortunate Son certainly is bad. But the moment he insulted McCain for being a PoW, he opened the door for everyone to criticize him. The fact that the modern Republican party seems okay with insulting veterans is so bizarre, and they deserve all ridicule that comes at them.
That's why we always had Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Checks and balances equal good government policies for as many as possible. Someone is always not going to be happy, but our government people try their best to represent everyone. That's why we have the different parties with the different view points. So grateful for Adam Kinzinger. He is an example of leadership that helps fill the current void in the Republican Party. My Dad retired after 24 years serving in the Army as a Warrant Officer. He was eligible after 20 but stayed in for four more years and somehow survived fighting in Nam. Adam is spot on about the unfair attack on Walz's service.

One thing that they’re not talking about is that Tim Waltz had severe hearing loss from the artillery and he probably would not have made it through the medical part of the SRP to deploy. They tried to medical him out for it before and he wanted to serve so badly that he got a waiver. I have explained all the stuff to my family and everyone I know this makes me so angry. Tim Waltz has been doing nothing but serving his community his whole life.

I was a pilot and deployed with the 3rd ACR to Desert Storm. One of our unit's pilots put in his retirement paperwork literally while we were in Saudi Arabia for the Desert Shield part, i.e. before the actual war began. The Army approved his retirement and he went home before the war. We were all stoked for him. It's how it works. You do your time and you can retire.
As a "radical left communist socialist democrat", first, thank you to Adam Kinzinger for his service in uniform and in the J6 Committee. One of my favorite parts of these rallies is the "USA" chants. I grew up in a small town in Oregon where we stood for every flag in the 4th of July Parade. I can sing the whole national anthem. Thank you for explaining for those who pretend to know anything about the military. I'm the proud spouse of a retired 30+ year veteran of the Army National Guard, who served in Iraq & Afghanistan. As Mr. Kinzinger explained, you cannot retire your way out of a deployment, nor can you just "abandon" your unit. When you submit your retirement packet, you're not retired effective immediately. On average, it takes about a year for that retirement to actually happen. Tim Walz served his country, our country, for 24 years! Americans should all be thankful to our military members, not critical. Also, this criticism is coming from the draft-dodging, "bone spur" camp so it has ZERO CREDIBILITY. My brother died in Vietnam because he was forced to re-enlist in the Army even though several of my brothers were serving and he had small children. My Dad retired after 24 years serving in the Army as a Warrant Officer. He was eligible after 20 but stayed in for four more years and somehow survived fighting in Nam. Adam is spot on about the unfair attack on Walz's service.

One thing that they’re not talking about is that Tim Waltz had severe hearing loss from the artillery and he probably would not have made it through the medical part of the SRP to deploy. They tried to medical him out for it before and he wanted to serve so badly that he got a waiver. I have explained all the stuff to my family and everyone I know this makes me so angry. Tim Waltz has been doing nothing but serving his community his whole life.

I was a pilot and deployed with the 3rd ACR to Desert Storm. One of our unit's pilots put in his retirement paperwork literally while we were in Saudi Arabia for the Desert Shield part, i.e. before the actual war began. The Army approved his retirement and he went home before the war. We were all stoked for him. It's how it works. You do your time and you can retire.
As a "radical left communist socialist democrat", first, thank you to Adam Kinzinger for his service in uniform and in the J6 Committee. One of my favorite parts of these rallies is the "USA" chants. I grew up in a small town in Oregon where we stood for every flag in the 4th of July Parade. I can sing the whole national anthem. I love that Harris/Walz are reclaiming patriotism for those of us on the left who love our country and have fought for democracy for the past eight years.

As Mr. Kinzinger explained, you cannot retire your way out of a deployment, nor can you just "abandon" your unit. When you submit your retirement packet, you're not retired effective immediately. On average, it takes about a year for that retirement to actually happen. Tim Walz served his country, our country, for 24 years! Americans should all be thankful to our military members, not critical. Also, this criticism is coming from the draft-dodging, "bone spur" camp so it has ZERO CREDIBILITY. My brother died in Vietnam because he was forced to re-enlist in the Army even though several of my brothers were serving and he had small children. Mr. Bone spurs and the couch molester have no idea what that pain feels like and I have zero interest in their opinion of a man who is brave enough to stand in danger to protect all of us.

I teared up when Kinzinger acknowledged that Dems really, sincerely believe in the Constitution. Yes! To us, THAT’S America - the rights granted therein and the ideals to which we aspire.
That's the thing: True Democrats have never hated America, liberal or otherwise. The criticism of the government when it has committed crimes, or policies that hurt the average American is not anti-patriotic. Following any government blindly and in lock-step isn't being a patriot, it' being a cult member. It's precisely because Democrats know and believe in what makes America great that the party members cry out when they see the bureaucrats and government leaders abusing power and disregarding the welfare of the American public. As proven lately with the way MAGA blindly worships its golden and orange false idol, they don't truly care about the Constitution beyond the 2nd Amendment (and even then they don't fully understand that amendment).
And I would not say Dems are down on America. They would rather the country confront it's flaws so they can be fixed. The first step is admitting you have a (race) problem.
And supporting or not supporting wars does not equate who is the better "patriot"

Thank you! As a center-left veteran, listening to people like Vance make me feel like I'm going crazy. It's just so bizarre to see this horrible anti-American rhetoric from MAGA. It's so bad that I can't even guess when it will be 'safe' to vote for a moderate Republican, because I don't want to give more power to the MAGA crowd.

I enjoyed watching both Miller and KInzinger watching that clip of the rally. I have a lot of respect for Former Rep. Kinzinger as a man of character and integrity who's been a vocal supporter of Democracy.
Even if Walz made the decision to retire because he wanted to help raise his 4-year-old daughter, as well as serve in Congress: why does JD Vance--supposedly the big family man--object to that? Governor Walz and his wife struggled with IVF and finally had a child. Can he really be faulted for making the choice to be a father? Vance is such a hypocrit.

As a British guy, I often find myself replying to comments by the MAGA crowd something like "since when is America unable to do more than one thing at a time or to solve multiple problems at once? Why are you so down on your own country?"

@@marieslabbert6009Living in a democratic state, but surrounded by MAGA, my observation is many of these folks hate themselves, they are generally unhappy and miserable and love to complain and blame. Trump just plays into this archetype. Many of these people never payed attention to politics before Trump.

As a retired Chief of Prosthetics at a VA Medical Facility I can assure you that no matter party affiliation, not one person working there would ever call out any veteran for the type or location of service. Veterans did what I did not, sign up or be conscripted to go and do WHATEVER called to do during time of service. PEROID. That is honorable.
