these are my favorite Supras as well...I had an '86 MKII that I freaking LOVED, but when it dies @ 285k, I couldn't afford to do a swap (plus it was my business vehicle at the time, and I could not have any down time between vehicles)...

I’m 39 yr old. My first car was a 1988 Supra turbo. I loved that car. The radio had cool eq that lights up. The headlights squirts washer fluids. It was fast in the late 90s. It really was a cool car. Mine was black with tan leather.
Thanks for the instructional video! I had an R154 break in my 84 Cressida that's swapped. I had installed a Marlin Crawler thrust washer in it previously but one day I was driving spiritedly, slammed it into 3rd and it wouldn't go into 3rd anymore, so I have to pull it apart again. This video should give me a little bit more sight into what I need to look for.
Just a note about locktite: it's thermoplastic and becomes liquid(ish) at around 200°C. So if you suspect that someone used that, heat the screw up and it should become loose.
Hey, Jared- Pop corn boy here! In about four minutes I just learned more than I ever knew about limited slip and torsen differentials - Prifessor, you just keep "explaining along". I'll follow and ask dumb questions if I have 'em.
Miss my MKIIIs. The 3.9 diff is from US 87/88 Turbos, US 89-92 turbos got 3.73s, while non-turbos got 4.3 for every year, except they could either be limited slip or open. It's a good way to fine-tune your gearing for highway pulls or drag races
0:20 - Pyrrha has a perfect 'lights are on but no-one's home' look. Absolutely beautiful pupper though. But, having a white dog in workshop. That can't be a good idea. 😲

been working on my 1jz swap in my mk3 for the past two years. finally got it tuned and on the road but plenty of other work still to do. I noticed youre missing those little front mud flaps on your silver mk3, i have a couple extra if you need some ;)

Thank you, I already had a new wiring harness done when I had the motor pulled to do the timing and got alot of new parts for the motor and had alot of parts hydro dipped to match the green color of the car and before I was able to get the motor put back in and get the interior redone the cancer hit me and now I'm on disability and can not afford to put money in the car.
Jared I needed this upload. I am working on my daily since sunday, work that was suposed to take 2 days. Now it is day 4 and it will take at least 2 more because of a part i need to get. So thank you for keeping me floating ;)
Never heard the grinding from going into reverse but once I was a bit to quick and threw it in second with the clutch not entirely disengaged and oh God, the grinding. Thought for sure the trans was done for.
Yeah no shit, my boss does that bs all the damn time when removing stickers from brake lines, its like dude use a razor to cut the damn thing off not scrape it..i will snap one day due to that.

My fond memory of this gen Supra was when Toyota Team Europe use the car for Group A Rallying with its famous Red and White livery through Safari Rally.
I restored a MKIII 89 supra in 2007 for $7k with a 1jz $700, w58 $200 and the barn find shell $750. Every part was easy to find then. All the Stock clutch LSDs need re-stacked they are put together from factory wrong on purpose to make the engagement softer they always only engaged like 80% of the disks.
