Still so fresh!!!..the older I get the more impressed I am with my generations music!...so many types of music, to me the 80's was easily the most creative decade!...☺️👍
Although I do not like mimed performances, it's nice to see footage that shows the band. The videos of the 79/80 era tours mostly focus on Numan. Yeah, he's the star, but he had an amazing band. It would be nice to see them actually playing the music live.
yep. the wembly show demonstrated this with many more of the audience favouring the older classic tracks. you could see and hear a considerable difference in their applause. and many were not there at the farewell concerts.
I remember walking along Princes Street, Edinburgh in my red belted black flying suit circa Telekon and thinking I was the dogs bollocks until I bumped into a girl I knew, who complimented me on my get up and asked 'Are you wearing make up, Andy'? ... 'Yes' said I ... "You've forgotten to put some on your nose" ... Ahh the good old days and I'm still a fan.😊

See how the host says something like an overview when Gary momentarily stops singing mid-song? I get the feeling that he thought the song was wrapping up. That's why he gets up on stage so quickly when they're finished, he looks panicked that they're out of time. Anyways, this is great footage, thank you for sharing ☺
Like others have also said, never seen this before. Thanks for posting. And now, if you can locate some clips of Numan from his trip in Japan, that would be amazing. Certainly he must have done some TV promos while he was down there.
Awesome. At his best. Never seen this before. This is the dystopian presentation it should be. Hate it live with all the headbanging and whoaho shouting
Thank you - I had never seen this before! I am from Malta which is close to Italy so as a child I would watch Discoring quite regularly every Sunday night - it was Italy's Top of the Pops. I remember seeing Kraftwerk for the first time on this show, but must have missed Gary's appearance. The presenter who jumped on stage at the end was Claudio Cecchetto, a very well known producer of bands in Italy, who later 'discovered' Sabrina Salerno of 'Boys Boys Boys' fame :-) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudio_Cecchetto He says that Gary Numan has become a 'mito' - a 'myth' or legend for young people in England. It's interesting to see how the record company was still promoting 'Tubeway Army' and 'AFE' in Italy in early 1980, even though Gary had gone solo by late 1979.
Love the green background curtains. His daughter looks just like him here. They have the same face. I think it’s Echo, not Persia. The two girls with brown hair
Did Gary make another broadcast with Are Friends Electric ? on Italian TV in 1980 besides I Die You Die at St Vincent's Estate ? July 1980. The stage and backdrop doesn't match that recording. Also Chris Payne is on the right and Denis on the left. Its the other way round at St Vincent's.
I'd have lost the bet there.... I thought it was Garry Robson... but only cos i couldn't think of any other keyboard player from that era... 7/10....i must try harder...😁

As a huge Numan fan, it's great to see a video of the Man that I've never seen before.

Fabulous.. Absolutely 🌻

Wow. How important was the drumming? So minimalist, so perfect. How important was the Aspergers? Etc. Love the cold cool beauty of this one.

Italian shows of the time could be quite obnoxious and I honestly don't blame him. But then again he was also in character.
