- The Foundation's gala benefit, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's, took place on Saturday, November 9 at the Waldorf Astoria New York, raising $5.5 million for Parkinson's research. A sold-out crowd of over 1,100 guests gathered to watch the star-studded event hosted by Denis Leary. One of the night's biggest moments came when special musical guest Chris Martin of Coldplay took the stage to sing "Johnny B. Goode" with Michael J. Fox on guitar.

what a man.he knows he cant play great now, he knows alot of young ppl there dont really know him, he knows ppl on here will say how bad it was etc..BUT he still did it because life is to short and he's just enjoying him self.he's raised $300m+ for research for his condition and everyone who has it. a true human and alot of ppl should look up to ppl like MJ Fox and not ur stupid celebs you find today. fantastic guy!

Its good that Michael J Fox is an Optimistic man. He doesn't focus on the negative side to his Parkinsons disease.

It's already incredible that he could even make this performance possible with his parkinson's disease. Stop being so picky.
It mostly has to do with timing his meds properly. Too early, and he's he's stiff as a board. Too late, and he's wobbly as hell. I'm glad he keeps a sense of humor about it, though. He once remarked that his tremors rival any electric toothbrush on the market every morning.

this is by far the most impressive example of belief and ability. A man who is 50 odd years old playing almost perfectly the song that most people doubted he could play in his time as a young actor. Hats off to MJ Fox. What a STAR

Love Michael J Fox- he’s a great entertainer and bringing him in to replace that other dude in the “Back To The Future” was the smartest move some movie exec ever made.
He has more courage than most of us.

wow...first watched micheal played johnny be goode in back to the future 1 and 2 when i was only 5 years old..never bored to watch that movie again all over again untill now..he's an inspiration..i love him and missed him on tv/movies..hoping he always in good health..

Great stuff! Chris always talks about Back To The Future & Marty McFly in his interviews and how the movie has inspired his writing process. In fact, on their last tour, Coldplay opened their concert with the theme to Back To The Future. Playing songs from BTTF with Michael is a dream come true for him. He's such a wonderful geek, I love him to death.

I have Essential Tremors and have spent the last year learning guitar. The chords that stretch my hands out too far are still very difficult for me but watching Michael do it when he's clearly a lot worse off than me gives me hope and encouragement!

All of us with diseases we are ashamed of and therefore avoid the public as much as possible should have this awesome guy Micheal J Fox in mind! I have a neurological disorder discovered after I was in Afghanistan in 2006! Ive avoided public contact but not anymore!
