I loved Seattle Slew, that horse was a beast, and knew he was there to win. I think he and Secretariat would have had very close in the K - Derby and Preakness. Slew was a beautiful horse and "always" a winner, and underrated. Also Slew beat next years Kentucky Derby Derby Affirmed, 2 times. Affirmed was a triple crown winner, so Slew was one of the all time greats.
I think he was just forgotten. He was my Poppy's favorite horse. We watched the triple crown every year, I was 6 when Secretariat won, I watched it but didn't really remember. I sure remembered these with Seattle Slew. It was great. I believe it would have been close in the derby and preakness between those 2 horses. I loved Slew as well.
This seems to have been taken from the original NYRA video feed, not the telecast, as it only features the audio from track announcer Chic Anderson. Seattle Slew had to work hard to win that day!
This seems to be the clearest footage I've seen yet, of that day. I was always curious about the unusual, distinctive way he ran. Rest easy now Slew!

He was number 2 of all time, in my opinion. He was unique.
@@walkawaycat431 Glad to know there
are other Slew fans around, as I think for
some reason he was underrated by many.

@@grantp4022 Beating Affirmed only added to his greatness.

I was there and the place was packed
Three Triple Crown winners in the 70's, I thought it might be a regular thing.
Seattle Slew just toys with the competition ( if you call it that ) 🐴🙂
3/4 of mile in 1:14. Secretariat 3/4 mile in 1:09

Pretty lousy broadcast technology in those days
