Hey guys, my friend "Scharfer Schnitt" and I did a small collab on this one once again. Here are the links to his channel and the short video he made of restoring the blades: ua-cam.com/channels/8WKqevPVq8GLAQDlIVuXaA.html ua-cam.com/users/shortsRNtKqwA1QMA By the way: I actually made a picture of the metal shear when I found it last year on the scrap yard. If you want to see that check out my Instagram: instagram.com/Dr.HutOfHandcraft/ Have fun with the videos!
I like old tools and I differ from a lot of restorers in that after the restoration I want the tools to still look their age. I appreciate the effort and time you put into restoring and presenting the older tools as if they were new. Your skills and determination are much respected. I want my restored tools to: 1. Be functional 2. Look and act well maintained 3. Look their age. I want to eventually create a workshop of antique tools. I am a bit of an antique myself. 🤫
Thank you for your comment! I also like tools to look their age, but they will age with time again, because they get used by me Maybe one day they will need a restoration again and maybe not by me, who knows 😄
That shear came out great! I have seen a couple of similar shears restored, but this one is the best in appearance and function! That will be a valuable tool.
I think you've done a very good refurbishing job. It looks nice and will work for whatever you need cut... Opens up a whole new field of projects now... Thumbs Up!
Thank you my friend! Yeah my hand is okay, more or less .. but it’s okay 😄 Sorry that I didn’t answer your Message yet, I will do that within the next days !
Great job brother...just show a little more love and patience with stuck bolts - you can never replace an 'original' part. Even a real OEM replacement or donor part isn't really original. Looks fantastic as always. You're an inspiration to us fogeys with stuff we got from prior fogeys 😂
What do you use as a power supply for electrolysis? About how much or what size would you suggest for me to buy so I can start trying that way on a couple resto's of my own?
I use a Lab power supply but you can also use a battery charger for car batteries but consider that those only go up to 12V. Also: you don’t necessarily need electrolysis for rust removing, you can for example also use acetic acid (vinegar essence 25%) or another rust remover. Hope that helps

Äh, Brauchst Du so was noch ne Nummer größer ?
Oder auch zwei bis drei Nummern....
Dafür hab ich möglicherweise nicht den Platz, wieso? 😄
