Located in Chinatown Singapore, Chinatown Wet Market has a vibrant atmosphere of this ethnic neighborhood. You can find typical Chinese cooking ingredients like Chinese vegetables, herbs, and spices and have a chance to observe the way Chinese people doing business as well.
Whether you want to find expensive stuff like crabs and lobsters or more affordable ones like cockles, clams, and prawns, you can get them at Chinatown Wet Market. The array of big, live crabs and lobsters in plastic crates is impressive.
Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population. Its colonial core centers on the Padang, a cricket field since the 1830s and now flanked by grand buildings such as City Hall, with its 18 Corinthian columns. In Singapore's circa-1820 Chinatown stands the red-and-gold Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, said to house one of Buddha's teeth.

Jay Young lol... this video is from past January when I was in Singapore, I have such a backlog of videos, I am trying to mix countries, subjects, etc., and as a result I may look weird, one day this way and the next day all different!! What really is spinning in my mind as I videotape these fish markets is the bothersome notion, 'where is all this stuff coming from (the fish), how much is out there and how long it is going to last for'??. I mean, I see huge amounts of fish sold every day in big markets, does the sea really have the capacity to produce so much to feed so many for so long?? I wonder...

Hi Vic, near ending @5.30 the old lady was cutting up a snakehead fish. From what i know she was sayin in cantonese this is a good eating fish and weighs about 6kg :)
