  • Chisholm Mall is a rather mysterious specimen of enclosed shopping, located in Duncan OK. How obscure is this mall? Well two days before recording, I had no idea it even existed until surfing google maps in Fort Worth. Stopped by on a whim, and was blown away.

That table fan just spinning away on a planter is a surreal touch.

That was so random but then again this mall is just so dead so why not let it keep running.

I love how even when you don't have 100% of the information about a mall you still always manage to find at least some information about the mall.

ahhh i just love the secret hidden gem malls that have like no information on them,, they are always the most untouched 80s holy grails ,, this one is just SURREAL ! you should check out the "old wellington mall" in florida. its a bizarre one too.

I love the vibe of this mall, its basically one big liminal space, I really like that strange but wonderful ambience.

Wow… Looks like a weird local or county government offices building mixed with professional offices. I could see the tax assessor, dmv, job services, lawyers, eye doctor, library and others all in the same weird layout.

I was borne and raised 2 miles from the Ward Mall , I spent my extra time at the cafe counter at Woolsworth, getting lunch or ice cream, walking the mall when it was hot outside was the best, My moms cousin built the fountain in the center of the mall and people were always filling it with coins, Lots of people in the the mall most all the time, all the storefronts were filled with stores, and the winter was busy as well with lots of shoppers, walkers, and kids. there were T.V. shops, Radio Shack, Candy Shops, Ice Cream Shop, interesting

Lived here in Duncan almost all my life, lived in Lawton (which I also seen you cover the mall there) before as a bab. I remember when I was in Grade School the mall here used to be much more popular. There was a haircut place run by a nice lady named Patty who I'd go to get my hair cut from up until late middle school when she retired. They used to also host a Halloween event there where I dressed up as Tinkerbell and got my picture taken at like 10/11. I remember fondly throwing coins in to the fountain and there also used to be a little jungle gym in front of the fountain. Recently they added in a boba tea shop and a thrift store which get pretty good business!

I've seen hundreds of mall videos, and I think this is my favorite. What a dream of a mall. Some of those store fronts! 🙂

My dad managed the mall in the early 80's for Mr.Flynn. Once a year I would climb all over that fountain to clean it and I got to take all the change for my pay. I loved going to the bookstore and a clothing store that had OP and Hang Ten brands. Woolworth closed by at least 84 because I remember walking around it with my boyfriend looking at the bargains because they were closing.

Pretty sure that it is 'Chis-um' not Holm.

I’ve lived here for a year now. Still haven’t actually been inside the mall though. I’ve visited the Mexican restaurant, DYO pizza, and Cali burrito, but I’ve only used the outside entrances.

This mall is super liminal to me, it's like I was walking through there as a kid, though I've never been in the state.

Sorry if I missed it, but was this filmed on a Sunday morning? It’s literally just there… doing nothing… just dead.

This would make a great indoor SWAP MEET/Online Emporium for Small Sellers that benefit from 20% Walk-in retail sales & 80% online with ebay, Etsy, Mercari, etc. Retail alone is dead to small businesses. I retired here 2 months ago and am yet to see inside! Now I want to take the same walk!

I presume part of that is to do with the anchors themselves being hollowed out for more mall space.
I don't know when it happened, but it's easy to tell that the anchors on either end were cannibalized.

@@DoomieGruntVenturesI imagine that part of it also has to just go with the 60's origin. 1960's malls were just all over the place.

At 5:50, is that only plants or plants with a fountain not in use?
