Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This UA-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.
Nice to see Rick smiling and enjoying his golf!! Makes a massive difference! 👏
You are absolutely correct when he's having fun I'm having fun watching him
Yeah but the excuse of being tired on that double bogey hole was BS. Didn't seem tired when he celebrated the birdie shortly after
Couple bevs on the flight maybe…
but often annoyed. His best video of late was the last breaking 75-with the gal and her great round. That was enjoyable by all. Rick was not annoyed.
@@wadepatton2433 She was fenomenal
as an American i love seeing all the gorgeous golf courses in other parts of the world. but it's also really cool to see Rick playing a course over here and seeing the differences
I love how excited you got on the birdie at 16. Even after all these years playing golf a birdie still fires you up that much, well done fella.
This is what makes Rick, Rick. Most guys at his level expect themselves to make birdies every hole and can’t tap into the joy the rest of us feel when we do get them. Rick is both an elite player, former pro, and a joyful weekend golfer.
Totally agree. That said, it doesn’t look like Rick makes too many of them so no wonder he’s as happy as us when he makes one. That’s why his videos are so good, though. Not often you can really relate so much to a pro golfer!
That arch of the back followed by the spin was class!
@@AndysGolfBlog as a former pro, I don’t think it’s cause he rarely gets birdies
Think it’s more because he’s on a new course in the US and he needed it to hit his goal of 60
@@danielharrison8565 possibly, but it’s not like he tears up these courses he plays back here in the UK. Pretty sure he was like 10/11 over when he played Tommy Fleetwood at the JCB. Obviously, that’s way better than most of us amateurs would shoot but I think we always just assume that teaching pros are going to be really good but in reality that’s not always the case. Of course, some of them will be but I think it goes to show just how incredible these touring pros are.
What a joy to see a Pro get excited over a birdie.....it seems that my high handicap birdie dance is the same as Rick's! Great to see a real golfer show us that golf is hard.
I bet Rick feels extremely privileged to play with such an accomplished golfer. Not many guys who's as successful as him gets a chance to play with the world's most popular golf youtuber.
😂😂😂
This went a different direction than I imagined😂
your awesome
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂,best comment for 2022.brilliant.
Meeeoooow.
Oh Rick, if I only knew you were coming to my turf! My wife and I play Palm Beach Par 3 almost once a week to feel like we take a mini Florida vacation. We have so much fun on this course. It can be so challenging at times. But it is one of the most well kept up courses in Palm Beach County. The people that work there are the best and so nice!! Based on what you said of having a busy week, you probably won’t have time or still be in the U.S. by Thursday the 29th when we have a reservation to play there, but if you did, it would be an absolute honor to have you as our guest to join us for golf and lunch!
US Ricky Shiels content is what the people want to see and the big guy delivers 🔥
Welcome to my area Rick! Glad you got a moment to enjoy a bit of warmth before we have this cold front come through this weekend. I am glad you acknowledged the stark differences in the greens/and fringe grass here versus elsewhere... I have been watching your videos for quite some time since the lockdown for Covid began. I quickly noticed that some of the great ideas you had such as using your feet to help read the greens really helped but the grain of the grass could really negate or accentuate the initial reading. You should come to check out Sawgrass (in my area near Jacksonville, also the Disney courses in the Orlando area are in great shape (and the Magnolia - the signature course is reopening). Enjoy the stay! Maybe I will get to see you on the course sometime! I am looking forward to seeing Rick vs Rickie! Keep smiling Rick, and hit em straight!
I am guessing the reply was not really Rick. But in any case, I hope you come back to the "Sunshine State" maybe in March-June or Sept-November when the weather is usually fantastic! There are many varied golf courses here to enjoy.
Wow the course looks amazing, definitely better than my local par 3 😆 I'm 34 years old never had an interest in golf, UA-cam randomly suggested one of your videos a few months ago and now I'm hooked, I mean I'm terrible at golf but I'm definitely hooked. Making sure I get some get golf time every week even if it's just at the driving range, hopefully by the summer my game improves 😬
Fuckin love you Gary Nash
I recommend you get some lessons before golf season starts up again. Learning the proper technique makes it way more fun than whacking balls all day
How’s the golf journey going?
Great course! i asked my longtime friend to be my best man playing this course. love this video!
I admire moments like the last putt of this video. He easily could have done another take for the camera and put a par on the scorecard for the video but he takes it in stride and knocks in the four with a smile on his face. If you’re not having fun you’re doing it wrong.
Spot on, Daniel. That’s the key thing for these golf videos on UA-cam and Instagram - authenticity. We want to see the good and the bad.
Rick, I just finished playing here and got a 69. I've only been playing a hair over a year. Up in the restaurant Al Fesco and getting ready to eat my sausage roll in your honor. I wish you were here! Cheers, and have a happy New Year!
Par 3 courses are FANTASTIC - I grew up playing Newport Beach Golf Course, you could go after work almost every day, lights until 9pm, taco tuesday and lots of new players. Smacking a 280 yd. drive on hole #4 and watching the locals gawk was worth the price of admission, but on top of that you really got to fine tune your iron game and putting, built me into a great player, that was 20 years ago and I'm still a single digit handicap
Newport is actually an executive course (it has par 4s). It's also pretty bad.
Love this course. It’s 40 mins from my house and play it year round. Prices have doubled in two years though and no longer offered on golf sites. Wish I could of got the chance to meet you before I go in for an on duty injury which required surgery today. I’ll be out of golf for about a year. I’ll be watching the Florida course videos from the couch for a long time. I hope you enjoy the area! Palm Beach County is a little crazy.
Absolutely one of my favorite courses to play!!! I take the kids at least 2 times a year (summer--when it's less crowded). Rick, I sure hope you had a chance to get a bite to eat at the club, their food is amazing, and the staff couldn't be nicer. Hope you had a great trip in my neck of the woods, you are welcome back anytime!
I didn't realise that "neck of the wood was used in Florida. I thought it was only a British thing.🤣🤣
@@GolfLife_ Yes, "neck of the woods" is a common expression used widely across the US.
I was at this place over the summer and it’s amazing! Great quality for the price considering the area of Florida too. And yeah the food at the clubhouse is 🔥. Insane for a par 3
@@GolfLife_ that's hilarious because I thought it was only a thing here in Texas. 😂
Welcome to FL! Bermuda rough is extremely difficult to predict on lie and how the ball will come out. Somehow the pros make it look easy.
I really like the format of this video, a short par to par3 course in 21 mins! Also, whomever edited the video did a great job! I can't wait for you play with Fowler!
Played there with the fam to celebrate my Dad’s 70th… loved it!
Love the positivity you’ve been showing since the episode with Iona. Keep it up Rick!
My dad and I just played this course on the 16th! We flew in from Ohio and played a few courses over the weekend. We must have just missed you haha!
I like this more relaxed golf than the break 75 honestly, youre enjoying yourself much more from my perspective at least. Good stuff!
Just played in Florida (I'm Scottish) - struggled massively with the grass.
Didn't play well, didn't like it. Respect to lads that play it week-in week-out.
Rick, love to see you on US soil! The vid has upbeat music, you have a hop in your step and looks like you’re having fun. I’m only 8 minutes in and I feel like you’re having the best time just hitting balls, filming shots. Hope you had a blast, and can’t wait to see the rest of the content. 👊🏻
Great presentation displaying a disposition for all to aspire; success begins with attitude!!
I grew up in Jupiter. I didn’t start playing golf until later in life but I play when I get back there. So many great places to play! Loved the video Rick. Looking forward to seeing the others filmed there. Also loving the content with the other UA-camrs that are also there! Keep up the great work.
Could have seen him playing Jupiter Dunes and then jump off Cato’s bridge like we used to do growing up.
Welcome to my hometown Rick. There are an endless number of great courses in Palm Beach County, Florida. I love this par 3 course.
I love how when Rick sees a nice golf course he says you know what this is my favorite cheers to our number one golf youtuber
Rick reading the grain can be difficult darker color up grain. I believe over the course of the day grain can shift with the sun maybe not as dramatic but similar to a sun flower. The grain can stop the ball going down hill and sometimes it seems the down grain pushes the ball and the trickle at the end can turn the pall to the grains flow. It can hold the ball straight against a slope or increase a break past expectation. Locals can help but I've seen grain make the ball break slightly uphill.
Love what you’ve been doing Rick, keep it up pal!
Played this course today and I agree 100% that this is just a fantastic one. Soon back to Germany but we will definitely be back. Thx for the great video even though it can never catch the full beauty of this course
First time Rick’s shot a video at a course I’ve played! Loved it here! Great course and video
You haven't played there, so don't bullshit me.
@@gaz84avfc it is open to the public
I would love to see a pro tour on all Par 3 courses... that would be a short game challenge... but no easy flat greens. Make shot placement be the test... I also hope to see you get to meet up with Jon and Ash from Stacked golf while in Florida
Great idea. I’d love to see that too!
Live right down the road from this course, it is incredible. You landed in the golf course capital.
Can just imagine Guy scanning the comments. Don't worry we miss you

Guy appreciation thread 👏
I knew exactly where you were as soon as the video started! Yes this grass is different and it'll make you respect the wedges a lot more! (I'm only minutes into the video)
That was an honest round played with dignity, Rick. I know it was tough for you, but it reminds us all that golf is hard!
Welcome back to the channel, my name is Rick (this is my favorite place in the world) Shiels
Rick, you’re class. And par 3 courses are a great way to introduce kids and beginners to golf.
10:45 I play a par-3 course near me in Massachusetts and those holes under 100 yards, without fail, screw me up so much.
Would love to see You, Pete, Matt, and Andy play a round against Bob Does Sports... at Augusta or Pebble Beach!
yeah i’m sure they’d like that too😂😂 there’s no chance
Pebble beach is public course so that can be done. I would love to see them all play all the Bethpage courses including the black
Well played 👏 . I've had the privilege of playing on the gulf side in anna maria Island 🏝. Stunning
We, wife and I play this course a couple times a month. We walk it and it’s a gem. Thanks to Rick for highlighting the course on his channel. As Rick found out, it’s a good test of your short game. Also EAL visited it last year too and highlighted the course in an episode on his channel too. Wife and I visited Scotland during the week before and during The Open. We played Prestwick and Chris McBride as our caddy…!! Played and Stayed at Royal Troon. We then headed to Edinburgh and traveled by train to Dunbar and The Glen. Both great courses. We played in great 75 degree and Sunny weather with little wind….!! Would never had known about those courses without Rick and EAL highlighting them on their channels! Would love to play a round with you next time we’re across the pond or whenever you’re back in Palm Beach County or South Florida….!
Welcome to America, Rick! You picked our best state to visit! Florida is wonderful. Enjoy your time in the US! Cheers!
Please say that you’ve already made plans with the Stacked Golf kids to play a round of golf with them while you are in Florida. That would be the best joint broadcast of the year: RS and SG! Make it happen, Rick!!!
This so much.
You definitely a happy Rick 😊. Looking forward to the Rickie Fowler match.
Rick vs Rick. Very epic. Can't help to be excited for this week!
Crazy that Rick actually has a chance against Ricky. Can't believe Ricky hasn't bolted for LIV yet. Maybe they didn't ask him?
Impressive putting! Almost nothing short of the hole. Well done.
Rick finds out that even on the same course, the greens can vary in speed dramatically. Great video though and I can't wait to see the "Tour of America with Rick Shiels"!
Yeah, that's bermuda greens for ya lol
The grass on the greens are the same length but the grain on Bermuda greens can make putts faster or slower than you think. It for sure effects the break. It will even effect how your chip rolls out. Definitely a challenge!
Here in Arizona during the winter, you can get really tough lies where the ball settles down into or sits on top of thick dormant Bermuda making chipping and pitching very challenging.
I work for the Town of Palm Beach and have played this course many times. You won't find a more beautiful place in the world to play golf! They take amazing care of the course. The grass on just about any course in Florida takes some getting used to for sure. Great video Rick!
Met you at the pro shop right before you filmed this! I can’t wait to get back to this course!
How long ago was this?
When was it?
Im a palm beach county resident and this place is amazing to play at and pretty good price, especially during the summer
I was really wanting to see Rick on another par 3 course 🙌
Nice to see you play down here with us. Chin up.
I know it doesn't matter but his last "putt for 59" was for a 60 any way wasn't it? He finished with a 7+ 61.
Yep. I was going to say something but didn't want to be a geek about it! I'll let you take one for the team haha.
my OCD was going to make me post the same thing if I hadn't seen your comment
Welcome to Florida Rick! Those views are the reason why I’ve lived here for 20 years. Destin is a great little gem as well if you’re ever back in Florida
Great video and just put a smile on my face having lived in Jupiter for years (and now get to visit) and how special of a place it is. Loved seeing RS just appreciate it for what that area is and has to offer for the golfing community.
Fowler has been my favorite player for a long time!! can't wait to see the video!!
I liked it Rick! Welcome to the US. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us. Peace!
Great video, special place, good fortune to play it in moderate wind, made many very excellent swings. Bermuda pitching tip, Play the shot from the top down, top line of the club, top dimple of the ball, forward shaft lean so the butt of the club is equal to the front of the ball, elbows maintain width through the shot, spin and cover. spin the handle with the top hand a bit at impact to create acceleration and cover the top dimple with the top line of the wedge clubhead. Key thought is the removal of the focus from the sole of the club getting under the ball, Top down, spin and cover.
I'm so happy to have played this course 4 years ago. Before all the blokes that watch this want to go and burn it up with over booked tee times. While I do love the course and the staff. The Tee boxes need the most improvement. For the fees charged and all the press this little course receives; the Tee boxes are abhorrent. Over round, under sodded, and need more level surface on the narrow tight holes.
Great video, Rick. Glad you could enjoy this Gem. Too bad we didn't get to see ,'Ol Blueie get a go at one of the holes here at West Palm Beach Par 3...
Just perfect! To see your enthusiasm and your joy is worth 1 million bucks. Thank you for sharing can’t wait to see the rest…
Definitely enjoyed your practice ! cold over where I am 🙂
What a great course! All I can think of when I see florida is Dexter 🤣👌
Having lived in Jupiter for three years and playing a lot of golf I can’t agree more I love this course!! Good fun and challenging. I hope you get a chance to hit the Dye Preserves!! Keep the content coming!
Always great content Rick, I love your self talk you do all the time trying to hype yourself up...but I think you put a bit too much pressure on yourself. You are a lucky man in the fact that you get to play golf everyday and make golf content. Just my opinion but take a step back and enjoy this game we all love, go back to being a kid with the game and have more fun! Thanks again for the great videos!
Cheers,
Scott
Oh man: I live in west palm beach and I got my first and only hole in one on hole#11. I wish I could have met you and played a hole or two.
Welcome to Florida and happy holidays!
Mentally I was there in Florida with you. Well played as jet lag is draining.
What a place! Can’t wait for the US content 👏👍👊🏼
Huge fan, brilliant content to watch! Merry Christmas 🎉🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅
rick i’m telling you feels like i’m watching a old vid when you played with pete , good confident now your more happy , your more less thinking about your swing and golf and just look like your flowing , love love love to see it rick keep that confidence !
Played there for the fist time this summer and fell in love with it! Such a beautiful course and fun to play!
Welcome to Florida Rick!
That feeling looking out at the ocean is the exact reason I moved here!
Enjoy your stay!
Welcome to Florida, just played 18 today here in SW Florida. Love living here and playing all the great courses!
Bounce, Rick. Here in Florida, with the Bermuda grass, you have to use the bounce to keep the club from digging in. JM2C
The swing at 6:18 was butter
So cool Rick in Florida ! Vs Ricky Fowler can't wait to see the match ! Probably learn a lot from him
I’m from west palm beach. I played that course many many times in the 80’s. They had a summer special which was well priced. Amazing to see how it has changed since the renovation in the 2000’s. I think the water on the right of 1 used to be the driving range!!!! 🤪🤷♂️
Edit: It appears they rerouted the course. The back 9 used to start on intercostal side. Looks great. I’ll have to make the trip down to play it!!!! Thanks Rick!
Loving this new positive mental attitude, even with the bogeys, positive laugh it off and move on, can see and feel the excitement of the week, class to watch as always 🫡
Welcome to the beautiful FREE STATE of Florida Rick! Enjoy the most beautiful courses that this great state has to offer.
I absolutely enjoy this Break 75 Series.
Great Job!
Rick! California has some really nice golf courses as well!
You should check them out
Pebble beach Is beautiful
So, first hole, 2nd shot. I've seen videos where you tell us not to reach for high lofted club as there's nothing to get over and given you know the grass is different, I would have thought a 7 or 8 iron would have been perfect. In fact, a chipper would be ideal here. Fantastic quality video and great to see you playing in the sunshine. Enjoy.
Bermuda grass is really tough, man. I live down here in South Florida, not too far from this course. We all learn techniques to avoid digging into the grain like that. You can't really use the bounce into the grain unless you play it absolutely perfectly.
There’s a par 3 course up at Tahoe I’m looking into playing this summer. It’s got some shots off some cliffs down to the green which I’m looking forward too
So great to see you this side of the pond! This course reminds of the many coastal courses you play in Scotland, but with palm trees and infinitely better weather.
Believe me it’s nothing like Scottish golf courses 😅
@@kramshiron I'm sure. I'm trying to be a but cheeky.
New bucket list golf course for me. Thanks Rick, have a great time out there!
Great to see you here in the States! You played my winter home course. I’m very spoiled I walk to the PB Par 3 living just down the street. Something I do is play from the blacks then next day play from the forward tees it really helps sharpen the my short game. You played it fabulously and fresh from the plane! Looking forward to watching the “two Ricks” play. Come back soon.
Would love to see you come over to Canada and give Cabot Cliffs a try.
As someone who lives in the western US, we don't have Bermuda grass either. Bermuda takes a while to get used to - like little tentacles grabbing your club and ball. Fun video.
LOVE the positive attitude here. Keep that up. Happy Rick is a better Rick.
Love the Palm Beach Par 3 - sunsetting on 16 as you tee off is beautiful!
I've played here several time during my South Florida golf trips in December. One of my favorite places in the world. The scenery and atmosphere is just awesome. The food is pretty good too!
Welcome to the Sunshine State. I play that course a couple of times a year and I enjoy it a lot. This is a perfect time of the year to enjoy our beautiful weather. Good luck with your match against Rickie.
I live in Florida and play a couple times a week. All the visitors have the same troubles chipping. Don’t beat yourself up too much about those short shots. Golf is hard in Florida. That’s a fact. Really enjoyed your round. Looking forward to what’s to come.
Really enjoyed the relaxed attitude from Rick in this "practice" video relative to how he beats himself up over Break75
This is my first comment ever - i have been watching your channel for one year now since i have started playing golf. Keep going Rick and dont worry regarding the haters. What i think everyone enjoys is the fact that you are just a human and sometimes plays bad makes it feel more real. Well done for doing this one with Rickie who has been my favourite player even before i started playing it myself. One tip...you have to stop saying putting for birdie when you miles from the whole as it seems to me you missing the whole by much more then necessary if you would be thinking ....just get it close and take two puts :) love all the videos especially those you not playing well couse i feel much better about my own game ...im still to break a 100 :) keep up the good work my friend
Hi Guys 👋 I have just been scammed by this reply pretending to by Rick Shiels giving away prizes
In the 1960s, I learned to play golf on the 9-hole, par 3 Las Gallinas golf course (no longer there) in San Rafael, California. My dad would pick me up from school a few days week when he was off work; we would play golf and hit balls on the range even after the sun went down. My dad was an avid golfer and a big golf fan of when he was alive. I even have home movies he made of him hitting balls with his driver off the deck of his ship in Vietnam while the battleship USS New Jersey is shelling a mountain in the distance with its 18-inch guns. The bright flashes from the New Jersey's 18 inchers are the stars of that show.
That was GREATEST , best golf vlog ever and Ricky is a real gent and to give you all those tips to get around such an epic coruse. Thanks Rick.
This is one of the reasons why I love living in Florida, the golf courses are amazing. It’s a beautiful place to call home.
Bukit Pandawa in Bali…. Is an awesome par 3 course
Great video. Great energy and great pace. I could feel your excitement. Welcome to the states and welcome to Florida Rick!
