That old Mini van reminded me of the one I had when I was 17. That thing was falling apart with rust when I got it but it moved and sort of stopped and that's all that mattered back then.
getting a heap of them cheeeep p,o,s's att work and at home now , i use the engines for old talons from years back . and seem to do a good job even a 4 blader 18" .. open up the main jet a tad bit . the idle jet is the black plastic jobby under idle screw . great vid again matey
They arent great but good for a quick $50, i wouldnt even bother going as far as putting the motor on another frame, the return on the investment of time is just too small for me.
You asked about the coil gap...on a Briggs engine, they say between 10 & 12 thou so it's obviously 11 thou however a business card is usually 10 thou if you measure it, so that'll do for our purposes lol.
lovely stuff Joe Carroll mate and those Gardenline mowers from Aldi looked like they were not used too much from my view but yeah at least you know how to bring them back to working order without getting the rough end of the stick and that lovely daughter of yours has a good helping hand in mind too cheers from the Victorian State
To anyone out there who owns one of these 4 stroke B&S mowers and has trouble starting it. My friend has one too, Chinese copy B&S, anyway his mower would not start and this year my similar mower would not bloody start, he showed me his technique. What he does is put a dribble of petrol on the air filter wait a few minutes ( i did this about 30--40 min ago ) one tug boom that into life, i gave one only prime also, started straight up! Mine is very similar to the one in the picture above.
Hey mate sorry to message in an old video. I'm trying to fix one of these exact mowers for a mate, have checked the valves and cleaned the carb and spark plug - managed to get it to start, but it soon stalls after. I can keep it revving by pumping the primer. Can you give me any tips on what to look at next? I'm only good with 2 stroke Victas it seems!
G'day mate, I have the same lawn mower that was given to me, and she kick over then stops I notice the you have what looks like a spring/hook at the base of the long upright arm that is attached to the carbi throat valve (Butterfly Valve) I am missing that spring and I think that is why it won't continue to run. Would you be able to tell me what it is called find one online somewhere? Cheers.
Thank for the vid for people that haven't got much money . I've fixed mine after watching your vid keep up the good work very grateful
Followed your tips and after I compressed air the carb it now works perfectly. Thanks Legend:)
Very enjoyable and relaxing, watching you fix things
I really enjoyed that. You've inspired me to have a look at two dust riddled Victa V40 Chondas that have been sitting too long.

bit of cardboard has always been good enough, I usually do it by eye but had to show some kind of professionalism i suppose.
Good work, you have inspired me to work on my own machines.. I loved the Mustie comment - I watch his videos as well :)

Can you show us a picture how you connected the stop/start arm and spring to the carbs? I couldn't quite see.
