Hey there! Welcome in! This week we tackle a project for one of our biggest critics...our daughter! We have been meaning to re-do her dresser that we attempted to paint years ago! Can we make this work? Come on along and see! Do you have a project you have been waiting to tackle? Let us know in the comments!
Lordy, I do. I bought a maple rocker made from some famous Mass. company more than 100 years ago, probably. Does NOT match my decor but I could see it was a steal. Honestly the back spindles are as thin as a pencil, still no damage. I just respect the craftmanship and saw that a mile away. I worked on in the late spring but it gets so humid here in Tampa. Like Barry, if I am going to do it, I am going to do it right and have no regrets down the road. I was sweating all over it. So no more projects until I get that done.
All I can say is “WOW”, what a big difference than before. She sure is lucky to have such talented parents that can transform furniture the way they do. Love the outtake!!
No need to explain or apologize for doing the best you could with what you had. I am 73 years old but when my son was born all of his baby furniture was acquired wherever we could get it for free or cheap. I painted it the same color to make it all match. It functioned just fine. I also bought baby clothes at garage sales to supplement what we were given. I have successfully retired now, but don’t curse meager beginnings. Things and children often turn out just fine. My son is very successful in his job, coaches his kids on soccer teams and is on the local school board.🌞 😊 🌺
Yes I agree! It was more for the "chuckle" effect. But yes, we have decorated our whole home with second hand items and continue to do so! It's the best way I think! And I am happy we have picked up a few tricks of the trade to make the items really shine! Thanks for watching!
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture, yes, I do appreciate the chuckle effect to make it an entertaining video. It was entertaining. I am a native Texan. Where are you located?
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture They're so beautiful. Big balls of fluff. We're a dog loving household here and yet somehow we have ended up with two cats! One homeless 7 month old black cat my son brought home from the shop one night and the other was a nervous wreck beautiful tortoiseshell only 3 months old being driven crazy by two kids under the age of 3 and her family were looking to rehome her so we took her in too.
Wow what a difference in such a beautiful job your daughter must also be talented picking the colours and the papers stencil for awesome I have always had a hard time with stencils and after watching you I might have to give this a try it turned out beautiful so much for sharing have a great evening and God bless you and your family
So so pretty!!! I think we all have those 'very first' projects that we now just cannot believe what we did! 🤣🤣 Still loving this color! Beautiful makeover! 😍
She must be so happy with this, what a wonderful upgrade! Great color and paper. Plus you upped your game with that stencil. Nice job on this whole piece! And I laughed at your latex paint flashback (we've all been there!)
Kara I love this one!! The stencils were perfect. Love your videos- fun, creative, inspiring! I just sold my first pieces yesterday and am trying SW paint with the next projects. Thanks for great videos!
It turned out beautifully! I also have an old dresser we painted with latex paint. I've been worried about what to do with it. The common concensus is that all the paint needs to be removed before refinishing. Let us know how the finish holds up. Your daughter has a beautiful addition to her room.
Thank you for watching! My thought would be , if it is like this one with very minimal peeling, you can get away with a scuff sand and a gripping primer. You will have no problem with the chalk paint adhering. IF the dresser is peeling, you will need to strip that paint off =( best of luck to you!!
Love the transformation! I’m new at this so I have a question. Why didn’t you sand the piece before you put the primer instead of sanding after you had already put primer on it.
Hi Julie! the primer we used is a bonding primer so I didn't have to worry about it sticking to the dresser, second, I wanted to sand down the primer to get a smooth finish and smooth out the wood fill all in the same step! Hope that is helpful!
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture Right, I wouldn't throw those glass knob out, they are almost classic. Although the new ones were worth the price. Really you do need some kind of legs or feet here. IMHO. I can see how much difference that makes, now. Seems to lighten what is basically a big wooden box.

Amazing how long a well made piece of furniture can last and how an artist can keep transforming it to keep it relevant. You guys are awesome!

Wow! It was a great transformation! Excited to see the fall challenge! Would love to be in a challenge with my fellow you tubers sometime 😊
Go for it! I don't know when we will do it again but I try to post it on our Insta page when we have a date!

Looks great are you going to add new feet? I think it would really finish it off with new feet.
Maybe eventually but it's already too tall for her & she can't reach the top drawer as it is so no feet right now! Thanks for watching!
Save those knobs they are costing about six bucks apiece at Menards right now!
I totally did! I will definitely reuse them! Even if she says they are out of style 😂

@@rockshot100 Would have loved to but she can't reach the top drawers so no legs at this point!
What part of Texas do you live in? I live in Mt. Calm.
We are in Dallas!
I cringe every time I see a latex paint job on furniture. I Almost don’t even wanna mess with it.
So did your "client" aprov of the finished product? lol
She sure did! And it looks so great in her room!
