I'm guessing they are running the original 2006 version of the game. ABH appeared in 2007 with the Orange Box.
Yearlaren Episode One had Bunnyhopping (seen in this video) up until 2010 when all the games were ported to the OrangeBox Engine.

I loved the intro to Episode one, but it wasn't my favorite game to play, but episode 2 lacks the intro like episode one but was my favorite game to play but I wonder why?

There is a speedrun being made of HL2's current engine. Current single-seg runners prefer the old engine because A) it can be compared to the old HL2DQ run, and B) because it doesn't rely heavily on scripts and thus a more entertaining run

The hospital section was blink-and-you-miss-it.
Speed runs are generally done using all mechanics the game allows for. Self-imposed limits what you can and cannot do are always more or less arbitrary, though there are some less-arbitrary distinctions, mainly Tool-Assisted(TAS) or not, single-segment or multiple-segment, and inbounds/not. Other limitations can be self-imposed for fun, like the attempt to speedrun Opposing Force without using jump-key, but that way lies arbitrariness

I never figured this game had 'cutscenes' perse. Now I think of it, Valve did an amazing job managing to trick the player's mind into thinking they weren't sitting through a cutscene. Psychological game design witchcraft at its finest, and only Valve could pull it off =3

Actually, that's just in the game. You can fire the dark energy gravity gun as fast as you can click, and it's not hard to click that fast

You need to remember that every speedrunner has seen those cutscenes far too many times, they are probably bored to death with them. And you aren't watching a speedrun for the cutscenes, but for speed and glitches.
