Hello ! I like that you're saying it because, me, I watched 1x08 this Saturday and I had already the impression to repeat myself too much with "this show, these characters, can evolve, go deeper, I can already see it" 😊
One of those shows that just gets better with each episode, it's just perfection. I love the themes, the animation, the characters. Very excited to revisit it.
Watched this show with my daughter. We loved it. Then watched the sequel, Korra, with my then wife, my adult step-daughter, and daughter. We loved it even more. I know a lot of people feel otherwise, but I feel Korra went even deeper into issues and psychology than Avatar did. And the very last scene...none of us saw it coming, though watching people's reactions shows me there were signs. I enjoy seeing people react for the first time to shows because it reminds me of when I watched it fresh.
I happened to catch part of this episode around the time it first aired. I was flipping through channels and saw the penguin sledding scene and thought it looked absolutely ridiculous and stupid. "How far the Nicktoons have fallen!" I thought and kept on looking for something else to watch. A few months later, I was flipping through channels again, and happened to catch part of the season 1 finale. It had me hooked immediately. It took me quite a while to find out what the show was called and a little while after that I finally got the DVDs from my local library. Got back home, popped in the first disc, and then to my surprise I realized "Wait, this is that dumb penguin sledding show?!" So glad I gave this show a second chance. It's absolutely amazing and I hope you'll come to love it as much as I do.

Hello again and thanks for the info ! Notice that I already finished episode 8 this week-end, so you'll have to deal with me calling it an anime during some episodes 😊
@@j.m.w.5064 Well, yeah, but that's just the standard western sweatshop offshoring model _everyone_ seems to use because this way it's cheaper, since wages can be even more horribly inhumane than if it was done locally; if we don't call it western animation then, well... then western animation practically doesn't exist, by that rule of thumb. 🤷♂️

Hello and welcome on board 😊 You and your sister have good taste, I loved these two ! For total different reasons, one being more a comedy drama one and second being more fantastic dark one, but still 😊
Avatar the last airbender is an emotional series, I recommend that you have a handkerchief close by since the more the series progresses you will begin to cry for all kinds of emotion.
Avatar: the last airbender isn't an anime. It's western cartoon. There a lot of good western (american in my case) cartoons for all ages out there, but unfortunately loving cartoons is far less popular then anime, which is why many people are calling ATLA an anime in my opinion. Both anime and western cartoons aren't native to my country (I live in Ukraine and there isn't much cartoon TV shows here), but I actually prefer western (American) cartoons to anime because of language and the fact that both tell pretty good stories. I personally don't see a big reason to differentiate cartoons from anime, but if we're doing it then let's do it write. Anyway, this is truly an amazing and revolutionary show you're starting, so I hope you'll have a good time with it!
This show takes me back to mornings before school eating cereal. Still enjoy it now I'm older. Looking forward to you watching this. Get ready for a ride 💜
Hello and welcome on board 😊 I post each monday here on youtube, on Twitter and also on Patreon my schedule of the week. Patreon subscribers have the episodes earlier (at least one week earlier) and with an extended reaction part.
Glad you’re watching Avatar! Not my cup of tea but it was a worthy exception.😊 Took me a dozen episodes to warm up to Avatar. Another animated show equally great is Gravity Falls. Although I have to admit that show made me laugh a lot more than Avatar. Brilliant writing, stunning surprises, and comedy gold.
Avatar is a great animated series, as is the series after it, Legend of Korra. Hoping you enjoy the ride, Laura. Definitely a different experience than some of the other shows you've been watching. Might be a bit of a nice break for you after some of the heavier, far, far darker stuff. So "anime" or not, I'd say really depends on how nitpicky and in the weeds anyone wants to get. It's certainly influenced by the style broadly (visual and storytelling), even though it's technically made for a western audience, as others have said. Where it gets a little bit complicated in how one wants to categorize it, is that Avatar was animated not in the west, but instead by the South Korean studios JM Animation, DR Movie, and MOI Animation. And then, later, Legend of Korra was done largely by another South Korean group, Studio Mir, and briefly during some of its second season (episodes 13-18, 21) by Japanese studio Pierrot (which, by the way, worked on GTO, since you mentioned Onizuka), then back to Studio Mir for the rest. Speaking of anime, I totally get the thing about some anime series being incredibly long. Some of those are like live TV shows that go on for ages, not knowing when to say, "We told the story we wanted to tell. Time to move along." Instead going on for a bit longer than is probably good for them. Thankfully Avatar and Korra in their entirety combined are far shorter than those shows.
Be careful while reading comments, the avatar fandom really loves spoiling stuff. I've never seen any other fandom just so consistently putting vague spoilers in their comments and then insisting it's not a spoiler even though it clearly is
Hello and thank you for the warning ! I always managed to avoid spoilers along my bingewatching of shows here, comments with some are really not subtile.
