If you know anything that would help me decide I would really appreciate it. Watched nearly every video from you and other youtubers but still cannot really decide.
That is a tough one. I honestly was put off by the MSI GT screen on the version I reviewed. Given it has no G-Sync and was dim, ASUS ROG Strix 18 takes the crown for now. They are pretty much the same when it comes to power and if you're going to max out the RAM, you need to look at the other details to decide. I would then say the display is an NB factor and the Strix 18 is better.
@@GLITCHEDZA exactly what I am thinking about since also the response time is really nice for the strix and kinda bad for the msi. Thank you for the fast reply :)
If you want 4090 in an 18" screen chassis from Asus, it's Strix Scar 18. Otherwise, better go Strix G18. The latter goes up to 4080 only, where available as many regions only top out at 4070, which is dumb but needed - otherwise, since G18 internally is the same as Scar 18, but it drops the translucent elements for opaque and rear/lid LEDs for green/black accents, all for supposedly substantial price cut, the G18 would make far more sense. Guess they, so Asus, don't want to verify the reality of whether people would shell out more on the translucent and LEDs design over the "cheaper" simpler one... Regardless, there's no miniLED option on Asus 18" models, it's only on some 16" ones. AFAIK, the only 18" miniLED device "released" at CES2023 was the Acer Helios Predator 18, which has yet to materialise in most if not any regions...
You don't sound like a native speaker but you have an Australian accent (at least I think it is one), did you study there? Good review btw, just wish you did more benchmarks without DLSS 3.
