14 years after that episode came out, and the Acropolis still busts my gut every time. I think I just woke my neighbor up. (For those wondering, Series E: Engineering [S05E01])

I think Johnny Vegas mentions Lorillard, a particularly obscure cigarette manufacturer, indicating Johnny Vegas, as always, has deep-seated and thoroughgoingly researched knowledge of a topic he presents himself as ignorant of.
After the "Peter Cushing Lives In Whitstable" episode came out, the original band re-recorded the song (I believe that's the story I heard) and they made a rather fun music video as a QI dvd extra. Now available through the miracle of UA-cam! ua-cam.com/video/oDNuW8g2LNM/v-deo.html

Somebody should write a song called "They Say of the Acropolis (Where the Parthenon Is)", ending with: ♫ It has bends and bulges, it's shapely and just fine And all without the need of a single straight line. ♫
The thing that bothers me about the Acropolis one, when all's said and done, is that it isn't true! The Acropolis is and was replete with straight lines - it's the Parthenon itself that has hardly any. It was a later edition compared to much of the Acropolis and had some rather experimental architectural techniques to make it look "bulging" and larger-than-life. The older and more bog-standard temples had straight lines.

Sandy's "I'm on the turn" is hilarious. What a good choice she was to take over from Stephen.

From just the title of this video, you know Bill Bailey is going appear in the majority of clips.
I reckon if you leave Bill Bailey alone in a room for an hour he'd write a song.
@@TheHutchy01 A song? He could write an entire album in that time.

Maurice K It was the very first QI clip I ever saw, I’ve seen it a dozen times in different montages, & it’s still completely hilarious.
Me too!
I tried explaining it to my friends what was happening but couldnt
Deep down, we're all watching these compilations just so we can justify watching the acropolis clip again
And the people over at QI HQ know it

Wasn't it?!
TRiG (Ireland) Nope, it’s an outtake.
Wow, never knew it was an outtake. That's such a shame, this is one of the best things British television has produced.

The Acropolis song is classic but poor Stephen was hurting from laughter. Excellent TV.
