      @@TSODInc I like to show all the great tools and equipment I get an use. If I don't put the links on then people keep asking me for the links where to buy them. It would be stupid if one was to show the tooling and items made from Banggood equipment, without telling people where to get the things...It's as simple as that!!!

    Quite a nice piece of kit. I was about to buy a Mitutoyo but you may have changed my mind. Cheers

    Seems like a decent unit. I generally use cheapie digital calipers or a good set of dial calipers but if my main set of cheapie digital calipers 'wets the bed' then I'll definitely look into this brand. Thanks for sharing.

    The problem with most cheap calipers is battery drain. How long do the batteries really last and how much power does it use when off? I use one of these once every couple of months and store mine without the battery, so it's quite bothersome to insert the battery before I use it and remove it again before putting it back in storage. Mitutoyos don't have that problem. These, I'm not sure.

      I have left my battery in this one since I have done this video. Still working fine after all this time. I have had Mitutoyo calipers in the past, but I find this one just as good. It is excellent quality. Regards Steve

      Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. I just finished testing the power consumption on mine, which is the 150mm version of your caliper. They use around 20µA with the screen turned on and around the same when turned off. That's 60µW at 3V. This is very high compared to 2.7µW (at 1.5V) for a sleeping Mitutoyo caliper. I still think the Shahe is worth the money. We just have to remember to remove the battery when not using it.
      Maybe you got lucky with yours or the 200mm version has more efficient circuitry.

      @@halsmypal CR2032s usually have around 210 mAh, so if that’s right, it should last about one year (as claimed in the manual).

    The official SHAHE site says the battery for 5100-200 is CR1632, maybe they changed it to cr2032.

    Gday Steve, I’ve not long brought a mitutoyo vernier calliper digital unit, I thought I’d buy a good quality tool but to my disappointment the thumb spindle is quiet lose if you can understand what I mean, the plastic box isn’t all the best considering the price you pay, I will say it’s very accurate but not the feel you think you’d get with it is not there, if I new about the one you have before hand that’s what I would have gotten but that’s life mate, thanks for the awesome review once again mate Cheers

      CurlyG65 yes it did, I am using it regularly and got used to it now, I really just thought the quality was better after seeing many before

      I had a genuine Mitutoyo before this one. It was in good condition but I had it for many years. I kept getting an error code coming up when I used it in my shed and had to keep wiping the scale. It was ok indoors though. I put it down to the damp atmosphere we have where I live, (on a tidal river plain).
      That's why I went for this one, to keep out the damp.
      Regards
      Steve

    Seems a decent unit if a touch pricy if the elctronics hold up.

    • @SteveJordan
      @SteveJordan  5 років тому +1

      They will hold up. I have heard of industrial manufactures buying these now. I actually prefer these to Mitutoyo which are way too expensive and not really any better than these in my opinion.

    ''A Digital Caliper''. An electronic digital readout of the item described below.
    ''A Vernier Caliper''-A vernier scale is a visual aid to take an accurate measurement reading between two graduation markings on a linear scale by using mechanical interpolation; thereby increasing resolution and reducing measurement uncertainty by using Vernier acuity to reduce human estimation error.
    Purpose: Measuring more precisely than could be done unaided when reading a uniformly divided straight or circular measurement scale
    Creator: Pierre Vernier
    Year invented: 1631

    • @SteveJordan
      @SteveJordan  6 років тому +1

      It still has a vernier scale. It doesn't really matter about the correct terminology. Many people still refer to them as digital vernier calipers, so I include all the words. It then comes up in all the UA-cam searches on this type of tool.

      @@ShevillMathers Its ok, lots of old guys call things by the wrong name. Does it still have a vernier scale? Of course not, but he will still manage to measure things with it. Those who care about understanding vernier scales can find instruction on other channels.

      Sorry, but any presenter on UA-cam are selling Information, they are teachers, and must get there facts correct, and to say "It doesn't really matter about the correct terminology". Terminology, this is part of accuracy, if you can not convey the correct information and accurately then you should not be a source of information!
      So you have access to All youtube search stats?
      This is the problem one person make a mistake and it becomes Ipso Facto, and every one quotes them and then there is a ton of miss-information going around!

    Not sure how you can review a product that obviously has zero hours use. Also wary of a review that has a link to purchase.

      Well I reckon it will be. There is good squeeze on the o'ring. No one is going to immerse them in water. When they say waterproof it literally means splash proof....no one will be using them underwater!!

    • @lensman5762
      @lensman5762 5 років тому +2

      I believe the rating of IP54 indicates that the unit is dust proof with limited ingress permitted + splash proof from all directions but limited ingress permitted. To have a unit fully dust proof and waterproof the IP rating should be at leat 67 ( seriously pricy ), IP itself actually means Ingress Protection.
