    One thing I learned about this completely by accident is that if you take the "bad" pile, count out how many cards the spectator threw away, cut the pile in half and then reveal two cards from the new cut piles, every card will also be a matching pair (soulmate). I did that completely by accident in front of my parents but it blew their minds even more.

    there can be a soul mate in the "bad" set.... it will be the exact middle but only if an odd number of pairs are in the rejects.

      This trick has too many flaws for it to be effective with an observant audience. First off no shuffling at the beginning of the trick, second, before matching the discard pile one pile is flipped over, and finally after the midpoint of matching, the cards are in reverse order ie 10-3, 3-10.

    Looks like there's a 50/50 chance of finding a match in the "unmatched" pile. You might want to know that to be prepared with a response. And there's also a couple ways (unlikely though) that this could go horribly wrong. Though trying to do the effect with fewer cards would increase the chances.

  • @realriskshortfilms9443
    @realriskshortfilms9443 5 років тому +17

    I feel like emphasizing the fact that all the cards are random and that they are in no particular order makes it sound really suspicious. I would just do the false cut and move on with the trick,

    The 2 piles of dealt down cards are still mirror images of each other, so you can show that at the end too by keeping one pile face up, the other face down and just dealing off the top card of each pile

    • @pokerandphilosophy8328
      @pokerandphilosophy8328 4 роки тому

      Well, no. If you do that you will match each card with it's soul mate. It's only because he turned the face up pile over that the cards weren't matching anymore (except the middle cards in each pile, in case an uneven number of pairs had been dealt.)

    I just tried it 2 times out if 3 I didn't "deal" any soulmates, but the third time I did deal a soulmate.
    So... here's what to do when that happens. You have the "deal pile" the "save pile" and if you accidentally deal soulmates then start an "example pile".
    The big reveal isn't that they've saved ALL the soulmates, it's that all the cards they decided to save were soulmates.

  • @danielhodges297
    @danielhodges297 6 років тому +17

    If you deal an odd number of pairs of cards, like 9 pairs of cards, won't the pair in the middle match? The 5th pair of cards you turn over would still match, or am I wrong?

    • @joeyparker9456
      @joeyparker9456 6 років тому +2

      You could just play it off as randomness. They'll see that once randomly it worked, but every one they picked matched. It's all about your persona as a magician. If you're really good, while they're picking which ones the want to keep or deal, you can count the number dealt, so you'll know that you have to ready your "one random pair matched" speech

    • @khazza930
      @khazza930 6 років тому +4

      or you can take turns choosing whether to deal or keep the pair... you start with them choosing... that way you'll always get to the choose whether to deal or keep the last pair, so you can make sure it's an even number

  • @leatherlips

    I think it could end stronger by having the spectator select one of the unmatching piles and turn it face down and do the drop one or duck two. This will cause the remaining two piles end matched.

    Im at the 3rd minute and already realised how this works. First of all, the cuts aren't really "cuts". You are essentially just doing a fake shuffle. And when the person tells you to "deal" the cards at the end, you reverse the pile making them at the exact opposite postitions, and that is why you start with an ace of spades at the left and end with an ace of clubs at the right.

    hi you could improve on this trick by setting up the cards like you show - 26 cards followed by 26 cards - now in stead of doing the sly false cuts and keeping the top card the same - forget about that , do false overhand shuffles and get your guest to cut the cards, then deal 26 cards face up into one pile , take the. other pile ( face down ) and ask your guest - while holding the first card " do you think this is a match " work now as you did through the 26 moves - placing the cards into what ever piles
    the guest says ' match + no march ' - rem the second pile cards are never revealed till the end - do as you did to reverse the 'no match' pile - and then show matching pairs ! ! this is better as you can shuffle ( false) and even cut the cards as many times as you like - try it ?

    It seems to me that there will be a single soul-mate match among the cards that are being dealt (and not kept), if the number of cards in one of the dealt stacks is odd (i.e. not an even number), and it will happen exactly half-way through the repeated dealing process.
    EDIT: Forgot the props - I enjoyed the video. Very nice trick, nevertheless! :D

    Question: in the second to last step I'm always getting a matched pair at the mid point of both piles. It happens if the pile is an odd number. If it's an even number there is no mid point in both piles. Fave card tricks are no set-up tricks.

    • @MLTMagicTricks
      @MLTMagicTricks  6 років тому

      Andrew Halfacre you will need an even number of cards to perform this trick, preferably a standard 52 card deck

    • @AndrewHalfacre
      @AndrewHalfacre 6 років тому

      Hi - I get that, sorry I wasn't clear. I've run the trick several times to practice and if you end up with an odd number of cards in the deal stack there is always a pair that match. It's in the middle where the two piles 'cross over'. If the spectator chooses an even number of cards for the deal stack then this doesn't happen. Am I missing something?
