A great and very underrated harmonic song by First class. A single great song and then never to be heard of again. I wish they made more songs of this quality
Another studio group fronted by Tony Burrows. He had an incredible set of hits with a bunch of “bands” that didn’t exist in the same format outside of the studio. There was an episode of Top of the Pops where he was the lead singer of two different groups that were high on the charts: Edison Lighthouse and Brotherhood of Man.
This video is great! I graduated from high school in 1975 and this was one of my favorite songs. I still have my original 45 which is amazing since I moved from Minneapolis to Chicago to Denver and then to Houston! The characters from High School musical are absolutely perfect for this. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is great! I have fond memories of BB when it first came out in 1974. My 5 year old twin girls are big HSM fans so it's a terrific combo... and you did a superb job cutting it, too. THANKS!
I'm old enough to (a) remember when this song came out and (b) have kids who love to watch HSM...and all of us think you did an incredible job matching the exuberance of the music with the energy of the movie. Well done!
I was a exchange student in Mexico in 1991 when saw this album like plastic kind and had hits of 70's and this was first song. Fun song, reminds me of my real LA days at Venice.
wow excellent video!!! very well put together; i'm an oldie so I love the old song with the new highschool musical highlites, great combo! lots of fun and brings back old memories of my young times when i was like them lol
@OldFiat24 I remember this being more of a turntable hit rather than a chart hit in 1971 or '72 on our (UK) side of the pond. Didn't realise it was having another life. You're to be congratulated on the job you have done!!!!
This is an excellent video - you two did way more than fab job. When I first saw it, I thought it was an "official" video for HSM, only to learn that Beach Baby was never played in the movie. If this is the kind of quality you can produce - please produce more! Wow!
Beach Baby went to #4 on the American Hot 100 chart in 1975; the song -- even though almost a decade late for the surf craze -- was quite popular in the US>
999carpet I do a lot of driving with my job. Ive got a lot of welcome to state sign pictures. Im a nice person I would do anything for the girls in my life. It did suck I was only5'6 tall
Graduate from Lodi High School flames of 1976 and always remembered this song and thought this group would be a follow on or replace the beach boys onward. Too bad we don't hear these type of songs in 2024 onward. Rap and most hip hop songs today are digusting/awful/condescending and lyrics not understandable; its like mostly babbling idiotic chatter.
@cosybully Here in the UK it had radio airplay in 1971 but wasn't a chart hit at the time. That came later when the charts seemed to me to have less interesting sounds.
I'm not contradicting people who recall it as a hit in '74, just pointing out that it's initial release was earlier and it didn't chart. It's not uncommon for some recognised hits to have had an earlier 'unnoticed release'. One example that springs to mind is Polices 1979 hit Roxanne. i have the 1978 non hit version of this at home. Unfortunately I didn't buy the non hit version of Beach Baby and I don't think tony Burrows or his biographers are braeking their necks to have a non hit on his CV.
The car, of course, is a Ford, not a Chevy, and the lead character (presumably never) has a ponytail. I do think I would have saved "we all jump up and freeze on the baseball field" for the last shot of the repeat-and-fade, and held it, and I would have used traditional MTV style head and tail credits, but these are matters of taste. Did you do this from off-air? Cause if you're this good, I'd love to see something you do with DVD rips. It is actually harder to work with unrelated material.
The leads are the insufferably adorable Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, they were (unsurprisingly) a couple for (surprisingly) 5 years after the filming of the first movie, breaking up in 2010. Hudgens is 29 now, and has starred as, among other things, Rizzo, in the Broadway revival of Grease.

@OldFiat24 i don't know if you're new to yt or what, you don't seem to be, but that is a very common, typical, rude thing that people do in comments here. they are talking to other viewers who read the comments, about the content of what we are viewing. it's rude to the poster of the video, but it's infinitely common practice.
Pity! This could have been a really great video, except for the really poor quality of the video! Perhaps you might reconsider reloading in much better video, at least 1080 FullHD. This video deserves it!
I believe Tony Burrows was the lead singer (as he was quite often for during the early 70s for various bands). By the way, I can't believe the people whose only comment is about the Mustang. Who cares?
Wow. There are lots and lots (and *lots*) of fanvids on YT. Occasionally, one of them is really good. This. Is Excellent. Except for the source material you had to work with, it's Chris Payne quality. (Look him up here - logicaltoast) Clearly you know and love the source material; at 48 and with no kids, happily, I don't, but you've done well with it, especially the dance segments. Only 3 beats you missed that I could see, and 2 you couldn't do anything with...

Nice job! Loved this song for over 30 years...
Awesome video very well done!
Brings back so many heartwarming memories!
wow excellent video!!! very well put together; i'm an oldie so I love the old song with the new highschool musical highlites, great combo! lots of fun and brings back old memories of my young times when i was like them lol
There are lots of songs from the 70s, but only a few that are _of_ the 70s. Soundtrack of my youth.
@OldFiat24 I remember this being more of a turntable hit rather than a chart hit in 1971 or '72 on our (UK) side of the pond. Didn't realise it was having another life.
You're to be congratulated on the job you have done!!!!
That's a fantastic piece of work! Phenomenal! Great choice of music - love that song. Thanks!!!
Great song 🎵
One of my 2 favorite beach songs. "NY's a Lonely Town" by the Trade Winds is the other. The French horns in this song are primo.
Yeah, you guys did do a great job with it, it was fun to watch and loved the music!!
This is an excellent video - you two did way more than fab job.

Oh ya, great song....and great job on the video-superb!!
Beach Baby went to #4 on the American Hot 100 chart in 1975; the song -- even though almost a decade late for the surf craze -- was quite popular in the US>

This song is the Anthem of the 70's
Great job and fantastic insight!
Fantastic song.
Thanks!
god i was 18 then ,is it so long ago,its still as good now as it was then
I agree. You guys did a great job on the video. I love it!
The creative Mastermind of "Beach Baby" and the group "First Class" ist the songwriter and producer John Carter.
I noticed something interesting. The song says Everybody drove a Chevrolet, but, the pink convertible is a Ford Mustang.
great 70s song to drive to.
999carpet I do a lot of driving with my job. Ive got a lot of welcome to state sign pictures. Im a nice person I would do anything for the girls in my life. It did suck I was only5'6 tall
great song all most syncronised to a perfect video, but a good job done any way
This Is Fantastic!!! Love This One Alot! 5*s Thankyou for sharing.....Anita..
Great video, and such sweet memories...
really this is still so good in 2020
love the song and this video is brilliant
Nice job with the video. Now maybe my kids will like this song!
Wonderfully cheesy! We used to fly around the floor at "The Hop" when they'd put this tune on. LOL Those were the days...
Tony..... Class of 1977👍😎
love it great job
i really love this, great job !!

Great work, good job on the video
Damn, Awesome...I just fell in love with Zach!
You did a very good job with the video.
A MUSTANG during the verse "when everybody drove a Chevrolet"????? I guess that Mustang was filmed outside of L.A.!
@cosybully Here in the UK it had radio airplay in 1971 but wasn't a chart hit at the time. That came later when the charts seemed to me to have less interesting sounds.
great song almost sycronised to a perfect video, but a good job done
Interesting history regarding this song written by John Carter and his wife in the UK not the US sang by the king of one hit wonders Tony Burrows
Pete, relax. They haven't wrecked anything. It is an awesome video as is.
ser libre es ir por cualquier lugar.
wonderful, Music...
Great video! Thanks for that

Why is it that radio only plays an abridged version that lasts less than four minutes, and is therefore less satisfying?
Great Job !. This song was the anthem of the 70's. Was it actually in the movie ?
anyone know who was responsible for the choreography? Truly awesome routines....
Good Job!
"...when everybody drove a Chevrolet.." REALLY?! A clip of a Mustang for that line?!!
Hey, I did fine with my 71 Dodge Charger! MOPAR!!!
I'll take something American made
it fits and works
@thefabulousthomasj I'm sure it was released before 1974 in the UK although it wasn't a hit.
forget old LA what about old UK its still a great song here as well

@OldFiat24 "they" is probably a reference to the "we" in your video description.
hey it fits!
8-23-2018...who is the lead dancer in this video....his acting girlfriend?

@@baylinkdashyt Insufferably adorable. 😃 I can't speak about Zac but that's true about Vanessa! My goodness!

Well, LA looks a lot like Da Nang now!
Pachelbel's Canon D chord progression in this song.
I believe Tony Burrows was the lead singer (as he was quite often for during the early 70s for various bands).

5 gold stars
@krawsherplonk if you've got a copy of a deleted release of the Polices Roxanne I might make an offer. )))

Their Wikipedia article describes them as "a studio band"...
