You did a great job, thanks for showing the difference between getting a V/U shape in the back and getting a blunt line. I feel like no one ever explains this. Thanks!
I just cut my own hair for the first time using your tutorial! I haven't had a haircut in over 3 years. I haven't bothered because I work in a hospital med surg, and my hair has been in a bun for decades. Well, I just retired and no longer have to wear my hair up. I could sit on my hair, and I'm sick of hair everywhere. Even my cat is complaining about my hair on everything, and she's tired of finding hair in her food. Anyway, it worked beautifully! I cut over a foot off. I watched your video 4 times and played it as I was cutting. If anyone gets it wrong after watching your step-by-step guide, then they weren't paying attention. Thank you!
@Judithestears funny that you commented on this today. I was just now coming back to cut my hair again. It's been a year for me this time. Just watch her video several times and pay close attention to what she's saying, and you will be fine. Having done it once, I have more confidence this time. Good luck
This is definitely my go-to video when trimming my own hair, which I'm about to do for only the third time ever. I love how detailed you are in your explanation, even telling us what will happen doing it different ways. Thanks a ton!!
I came across your vid at 2am after checking out I don't know how many vids. I haven't cut my hair in years and wasn't going to spend hundreds at the salon. I'm very happy with the result! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!
I’ve literally watched over 20 videos, you are the 1st person who has been honest. THANK YOU! I almost gave up on trying this out for myself. Scary stuff cutting your own hair lol Turned out great though!
M Lewis Thank you for sharing that with me. I can’t wait to start making more videos again. These are the comments that give me that push. I’ve just been sick for a while.
Kristy . I discover you 3 months or so. I'm watching your videos often, very professional and useful lessons. You are very knowledgeable. However what really got my attention was your personality. The honesty and goodness uzes from your heart. Amazing.
Your part 4 video showed up in my feed and I had to see more! You are very thorough and what I appreciated the most was in the reveal, you kept it straight to show the true cut. Every single tutorial I have watched shows it curled. I need to know what it looks like for real, any style looks good curled 🙃.
You did perfect on the amout of talking dont listen to what others might comment on, everything you said is needed in order to do the cut right thank you so much
Thank you so much... I never leave comments.. But you're a saviour.. I needed this tutorial.. Out turned out so perfect.. Just as straight as shown in the video..thanks ❤❤❤
I just have to say...that for ME...you totally explained this to me the way i needed it to be explained so that i can understand. Ill just be honest i cant afford to spend 15-18 bucks for a basic trim that my hair visibly NEEDS after some time...even without any heat applied to it!!! Ive been watching what feels like non stop videos trying to understand the concept of how to cut my hair straight and i just couldnt understand and so ive been terrified to get into it myself up until this point .....until finding your video so thank you and know your video and content made it to the right person and is so greatly appreciated and genuinely helped me so thank you thank you thank you !!!!!👍👍😊😊
That is just so inspiring to read. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to get back to making videos. I’ve been a bit sick lately but I want to come back to work.
I understand I'm the same, I can't afford to spend so much money on a basic cut. I have tried this before cut at the hair tie didn't go well for me, this method is much better !! Going to give it another try and know it will go better
I second this! Excellent video and explanation. It's been SO long since I've done anything to my hair, and I need it BADLY (along with a lot of other neglected stuff I need to do to ME) Sooooo...you have given me the courage, motivation, inspiration, etc. to get started and do this. Thank you SO much 😊
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insight! I just successfully cut my own hair with your tutorial. I feel empowered and my hair looks amazing☯️ Thank you especially for explaining the point cut🪷 Much Love☯️💚💕✨🫶🤗🪷💎🦋🎶🎉xox
This is an absolutely wonderful tutorial and you're absolutely gorgeous 💖💖💖😘😘😘💐💐💐 my hairdresser has moved and I don't want to experiment with anyone at the moment haha I just want a straight trim exactly like this, so I'll follow all your fantastic guidance 🙌🙌🙌
I tried this, and I had to touch it up after doing my regular part in my hair (I wear a side part). It turned out longer on one side, but the second trim fixed it. Thank you!
Good video i agree with so much of what youve said. But How about blending the back with the front after if your not just touching up a different shape of cut? I know you didn't really cut much length off your hair but im looking to take 2-3 inches off all around & I have much less, finer hair than you. I want it all in a blunt straight cut all around long bob cut & just don't want to have a shock or lose a bunch more length trying to even it out once I've cut the back and front and take out the ponytails...
Thank you so much for this very useful video! I feel like you touched upon all the topics I had been missing in other tutorials. I finally feel ready to take the plunge and flaunt my scissors 🙏 wish me luck!
Honey, looking back at the comments I noticed you've been sick for a long while. I'm going to pray for you. I do hope you are not in any pain. ❤ from a Mama
Thank you so much.prayers are so helpful and strong I was diagnosed a year and a half ago with brain cancer. I am under treatment and doing so much better
How do I get it longer in the back, sort of ovaled? My hair is more medium-length now because I just had 4 inches taken off. I'm 59 with long, thinning hair. It's not bone straight, some wave, though not curly. It has texture, so not shiny either. The stylist who cut it yesterday interpreted my 'round the back' as sort of a 'fan cut' (fans out shoulder to shoulder), which looks GREAT until gravity settles in. The fan is nowhere near oval enough. So now everything looks blunt, and most everything ends up hanging down the front. In the front it looks blunt, straight across, slightly shorter in the back, and front heavy. And with thin hair, I need more chunks of hair hanging down the back and want the back longer than the front, but blended. If I wear a hoodie, it looks even shorter in the back with even less hair there. To make matters worse, his fan wasn't perfect, so when it all settles forward, one side is longer than the other. I want some soft layers, which he got right, but if I start chopping away, I'm worried I'll lose them. I don't want the A-look face-framing layers. I want the length, but I want the layers softly within the length, if that makes sense? I ordered a pair of scissors, but they won't get here until Tuesday. I still need to buy a comb. Just the 'uneven' is driving me nuts. What sucks is I like this stylist because he does section off, snips slowly, takes his time. I can't see if it's even though until I get home. I have to take my glasses off while he's cutting. I've gone back for a fix twice in the past, and I don't want to do that anymore. I always feel bad, though I do think he should be pulling more pieces, checking to make sure they're even. I wish I was young and pretty again like you are. Your video is perfect, just the opposite of what I'm needing right now.
I cut my own hair , and it's fine hair ... And I also had the vcut, and I cut just the point off , thanks ! Btw I am a hairstylist and do not like anyone to cut my hair ( thank God I found this😊 )
Ohmygosh! Thank you!! I have NEVER been able to do this on my own. So grateful🤗🤗 It’s hard to get to a salon with my schedule 😘😘😘 Btw…my last name is Maccarone 😋
Put your hair in a low pony tail at the nape of your neck.....comb out til no tangles......lift the pony tail straight up, combing it up as well. hold your fingers straight across the top of the end of the held up hair. use hair cutting scissors to cut straight across the top of the pony tail. do this proceedure more than once. take the pony tail holder off and brush out straight down. it should be straight across in the back. Do not use a scrunchie to hold the pony tail.....just a plain covered rubber band sold at Walmart.
It must be nice to have thin hair. Not one of these videos are worth a fuck if you have thick, thick, thick hair like I do. I had to chop off 10 inches to fix it after trying to follow this.

Should I still part my hair in the middle for the cut if that’s not where I normally part my hair?

And can I ask why electric trimmer? Is it more blunt straight?
@@Ohkeh640 it cuts fast and straight. You can use scissors for thinning at the ends.
