People who say "please remember this is a dnd game" need to themselves remember that this is an adaptation of a dnd game. They can and have altered the story to make it more of a flowing narrative, and can allow the characters to do things that they didn't or even couldn't in the game

@@zerogoodcontent7293yeah he got really lucky and was kinda smart actually. Scanlan could have easily died but he used polymorph in a very clever way so he didn’t get hurt very much cause the hp doesn’t transfer over to him after the transforms back.
they love their cliffhangers, and I can respect it. thankfully in season 1, they released 3 episodes at a time and the cliffhangers would tend to be on the first episode of those so the viewer could immediately find out if Percy shot Anders or not. They do stray from the original game at times - in the stream, it was Vax who found Anders with Cassandra while he was just scouting, and Cassandra yelled out that it was a trap. It works better with Percy here, focused entirely on his sister.
In theory, you can do pretty much anything you want in D&D. The main mechanic is you roll a 20-sided die (d20) and hope you roll high. In some cases, if you roll a 1, you fall on your face; if you roll a 20, you succeeded with style!
Yeah it’s definitely a different experience watching the show from the point of view of it just being a show versus the point of view of it being adapted from D&D, especially if you play D&D or are a fan of critical role. I think it can definitely be enjoyed either way but as a D&D or critical role fan there are definitely extra things you notice that make the show even better. I love all of these idiots so much and I’m excited to see your reaction to the rest of the show and hopefully the mighty nein when it comes out.

I view it as this is how the characters are personified, and brought to life.
Indeed if I remember correctly in the actually campaign Scanlan didn’t really get hurt much at all during the mansion distraction mission
