Fact is that Trey Parker is a lifelong lover of musical theatre. He was the leader of his high school choir, starred in numerous plays and spent a semester at the Berklee College of Music. The first film he and Matt made was a musical, _Cannibal! The Musical_ (1993). Just about all the songs you hear in his movies and shows he wrote himself.
And now The Book of Mormon exists and the world is an infinitely better place 😂❤

8:03 to the end of the song is damn near musical perfection…. it’s that moment in all musicals at the end of Act 1 where all previous songs just come together in one big cacophony and gives you chills (plus this was obviously based off “One day more” from Les Mis - which makes it even better!)

This movie has 399 swear words in it. 399 because the MPAA would give it an NC-17 rating if it was 400 or more.
This wasn't about the network. This movie was theatrically released, they didn't make it for Comedy Central. It was actually the MPAA they had to fight to keep the R rating instead of the box office poison NC-17 rating it was threatened with. A few years later they actually used to play it uncut at night on Comedy Central after midnight

Please watch the movie “Baseketball”. Matt and Trey didn’t write it but they star in it and it’s really funny! Not as great as the South Park movie but definitely worth a watch!
I mean there is a place in Michigan called “Hell” and I vaguely remember going there once to see it since I’m from Michigan, but if I remember correctly it’s more near Ann Arbor which is in the opposite direction of Detroit.
I'd highly recommend little shop of horrors. It's a horror comedy from 86 that has a flower shop employee trying to care for a blood thirsty plant. This movie is the pinnacle of practical effects and animatronics that will never be seen again
