  • In Cebu, we got up to some waterfall photography here in The Philippines!

    Waterfall photography is fun. Let's get that out of the way. In fact, for me, there's very little I have more fun with than waterfall photography. And here in Cebu, Philippines there are so many amazing places to take pictures of waterfalls.
    On this photography episode, we headed to a couple of waterfalls in Cebu. We stopped at Binalayan Falls and Kawasan Falls. Both waterfalls are great. But, Kawasan Falls in particular is incredible. And there's no doubting why it's such a popular place in the Philippines for photographers and tourists alike.
    There are over 1000 Cebu waterfalls. But, I do think we found 2 gems for this style of landscape photography. So, I hope you enjoy the vlog!

    I love that photo of the bridge at the end! Rivers are so majestic that they are not only a great source of water but also a great source of photography! Although I'm sure it looked somewhat frustrating when there were a lot of people at the waterfalls, at least you were able to get out there and have fun!

    Most waterfalls in Cebu have deep pools for swimming with clean and clear water spread out in multiple levels. Kawasan Falls has 7 other minor waterfalls in addition to the major one that is most crowded. Aguinid Falls has 6 different waterfalls too.

    @Brendan....I'll give you an idea. Why don't you make a coffee table book featuring all of Cebu's 113 major waterfalls and over 1,000 minor ones? You might want to collaborate with Cebu Tourism office for this project. Waterfalls is one of the places most tourists love to visit or see both in person or in photos. Cebu's waterfalls are magnificent sight as most of them sport an astonishing turquoise blue water amidst lush and natural jungle. A coffee table book that contains nothing but Cebus magnificent waterfalls. Isn't it a great idea?

      @John...Ha ha...The two would never agree on that idea. Crayola would never take a popular trademark, Gatorade, for their crayons. The most probable shade Crayola might consider is Kawasan blue. It's unique and no shade has been made ever, even by Pantone.

    Would you guys recommend the Canon EOS R for landscape- and street photography? I’m upgrading from the Canon 6D. Is there any noticeable image quality differences? I like a lot of the features of the Canon EOS R, but I’m not sure, if I should wait for a more ‘pro’ camera body. I don’t need fantastic video features, just fantastic image quality, electronic viewfinder, a touch screen, and the new lenses.
    I’m considering getting the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM for street photography, and I’ll wait for Canon to release their Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM for landscape photography.

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  5 років тому

      It's definitely an upgrade from the 6D mark i. I used the 6d for ages. If I were to compare, the R is very similar to the 5div. The RP, even, is a small upgrade from the 6d.

      I’m getting the 7D Mark II for wildlife photography for now, and I think, I’ll wait for Canon’s ‘pro’ mirrorless. What do you think this one will cost? I might also get the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM A for street photography, and upgrade fuly to the RF system once they release the new camera body and more RF lenses. Do you think it’ll be in late 2019? I also think they will release a Canon 7D Mark III in late 2019 or early 2020.
      Thank you for your answer! I’m very fascinated and inspired by your videos. I’m a danish amateur photographer, and I currenly sturdy mainly physics on a high school. I’ve just started my education, and I wonder if photography might be my real dream instead. I think, I’ll pass the exams in about 2 years and think about it. I don’t mind if it’s street-, landscape- or wildlife photography. I enjoy them all. Wedding photography is fine, but I feel restricted there. I want to see the nature, the culture in different countries.

    How can they have opening hours on nature? Seems weird for a Norwegian, and it would require miles of super high fences, and trigger happy guards, too keep me out if they pulled something like this back here.

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  5 років тому

      As a Canadian, I find it odd too. But, in Norway there's a waterfall where they take entrance fees - I think it was Tvinnefossen. They even have a gate to get in close to it. It surprised me, actually. So, I guess it's a similar situation: nature on private land.

    • @jrskeide
      @jrskeide 5 років тому

      @@BrendanvanSon Must bee a fee to use some facilities, parking, or road. May be like Gigants causeway in Ireland where lots of people think they have to pay entrance fee to the visitor center to get to the attraction. A convenient misunderstanding that brings inn a lot of money.

    Brendan, the largest and longest waterfalls in the Philippines are in Mindanao, particularly in Iligan City. You can ask help from the department of Tourism. Or you may contact vlogger Kulas of Becoming Filipino fame who is based in Cagayan de Oro City. He is a Canadian who loves the people and place so much that he has been in this country vlogging for the past 5 years or so. He is helpful to other vloggers and willing to be a guide in Mindanao if he is not elsewhere busy vlogging. Check Tinago and Maria Cristina falls on You Tube.
