  • Wildlife photography is about more than photographing an animal, and wildlife photography composition can be tricky. Here are some tips!

I wanted to deliver some wildlife photography tips on today's vlog. And, here in the Galapagos Islands it was the perfect place to deliver those tips. I wanted to focus on wildlife photography composition tips above all else. I think composition is something a lot of newer photographers struggle with. It's easy in wildlife photography to think that it's enough to simply capture an animal on camera. However, there's so much more to it. On today's vlog, we go over these photography tips in depth while in the field.

Or just put a UV filter on the lens so the filter gets damaged, not the actual glass.

I'd still rather keep the lens hood on, it will protect the lens and never affect the picture under any circumstances, it will more likely make it better, even in twilight by blocking reflections.

They have soft covers that you place on the lens to protect them, little easier then a hard cover.

And that's why I have a lens hood on at all times except maybe when I have the camera on a tripod depending whether I put on filters. I Had my camera on a BlackRapid sling once and it unhooked from the the carabiner of course after that point on I always make sure the ring is tightly screwed even if that means I have to break out the leatherman. Luckily I had the lens hood on otherwise it would be bye bye 24-105. I was thinking how the F did it unhook from the carabineer damn I was lucky. Good video though!

Another great video! I was hoping to go on this trip, and if there was a scuba component to it, then I definitely would have. On a different note, since you will not be using filters for the most part while doing wildlife photography, you could put your lens hood on. It would not only cut down glare, but it might have protected your front element. I hope the repair is simple, quick, and low cost.

Eh, y'all never shoots the insects - they're animals too! Just pullin' yer legs hah! But seriously you can even do a kind of long lens macro's with the minimum focusing distances with a 100-400 lens mate. I'd be curious though what Morten's lens would turn out with a few attempts at doing insects with his 200-600 heh.
There ARE reasons I always keep my lens hood on my 100-400. I'm not rich. I'm not even making any moolah off my photo's yet, still working on my craft. I do hope that changes one day soon though.

Some people are searching for something via a title and didn't find exactly what they were looking for.
Other people are sad, angry, jealous, or feel powerless. Adding a thumbs down might make them feel better (for a moment). So, I'm ok with it if it helps make someone feel better about their day.
