This is the one and only airline that was able to fly me from Phuket to Chiang Mai in the middle of the pandemic in August '21. Despite many (I would say all) airlines grounding their flights, Nok Air continued to operate and provided a crucial connection for me from Phuket to Chiang Mai after staying in the Phuket Sandbox for two weeks. I couldn't have been more grateful to Nok Air for their efforts to keep flying during such a difficult time. Nok Air, along with Qatar Always will always have a place in my heart for their services during a challenging time.
I discovered this channel around a month ago, and I love it! You deserve more subscribers! Your reviews are very good quality, great to watch, entertaining, useful and they include everything I'm looking for in a trip report! The videos aren't too long and aren't boring, and I love how you sometimes include information about the destinations and history of the airline. I found your channel as an avgeek only, but you introduced me to hotel reviews, which I never saw before and those are also great! I'm very interested to know: how do you make your flight path maps, like the one at 7:01 in this video? Also, will you be flying Lufthansa anytime soon? I'm curious what you would think about them as I fly LH often from BKK to MUC.
Appreciate that! All of my graphics are created in Keynote. As for LH, I don’t have anything scheduled with them this year but I have flown them before. If nonstop is the priority personally I’d probably fly Thai between MUC and BKK simply because there’s much higher chance (near guarantee) of having all aisle access. I generally have nothing against LH but I think their 2-2-2 offering is a joke for a flag carrier in this day and age- their retrofit should have been done by now. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Good God, last time I saw such a tight leg room was Jetstar Asia A320. I used to be such a frequent user of DMK back in the day when they wer still BKK. They have such big windows for spotting.
My first flights between BKK and SGN were even going around Cambodia! Nokair: enjoyed them in the first years because you had more luggage allowance compared to Airasia. And there was the Nok+ option with wider seats and a pre boarding mini lounge.
I flew Nok Hat Yai/ BKK in late Dec due to flooding in southern TH which forced the cancellation of my trip on the train. Nok was the only affordable flight by a long shot i could find for the following day. On time at both ends with a complimentary upgrade to an exit row window. Uneventful and not displeasing. No onboard service at all which felt oddly comforting as there was literally no commotion or noise beyond the engines.
Never heard of this airline…but after your review I won’t forget them 😅 It struck me again how beautiful and elegant the livery of Vietnam Airlines is. Very classy and a beautiful representation of the country! Loved the different airlines taxiing around in this video, always a joy to watch! Thank you for the review! Counting down for Oman Air ⏳
I flew with Nok Air 7 years ago, only twice (Bangkok - Phuket round trip). I remember having a surprisingly good impression: affordable price, punctual, free 15kg checked luggage, free cookies and water on board. I don't know about their service now, but I will likely choose them over Vietjet Air any day. Moreover, I really liked their colorful liveries and managed to capture some photos at Phuket Airport.
Interesting video. Got a good laugh at Nok Air's livery (especially the nose of the aircraft). From your video, it has just told me one airline to avoid (not that I see myself in that part of the world anytime soon). Keep up the good work Kevin.
@@tfft You're welcome Kevin. Although, these days, I restrict my travels to the US and Great Britain (read: Scotland) and hopefully open it up to Europe (read: Yugoslavia) and the Far East (read: Japan), it is always good to get honest reviews of the other airlines out there.
@@tfft Sometimes, depending on the flight itself, it is possible to overlook minor inconveniences in order to get from Point A to Point B but that depends on what is defined as "minor inconveniences"
I have flown Nok a fair few times so I knew what to expect in the video but I wanted to just mention that I flew Thai Lion a few months back, also on an old 737-800 from DMK up here to Udon Thani and I was also shocked about the state of the cabin interior and seats. Compared to the competition from Udon Thani (Air Asia, Vietjet and Thai Smile), Nok and Lion's planes just seem like they've passed their sell-by date.
I have flown Nok numerous times over the last 10 years, including from SGN to DMK in Oct 2022, and never had anything to complain about. It's a low-cost airline and expectations should be tempered accordingly. On a 1 hour flight you don't need a snack and the seat pitch is largely irrelevant. There is always the option to pay for an exit row (which I invariably do because I am 6'4" tall). Thai Airways has gone downhill a lot further and Vietnam Airlines is nothing to write home about. The best service from SGN to BKK is VietJet, IMO.
Agree that one shouldn’t be expecting QSuites- as I said in the video, the experience is relative to the 8 other airlines that fly the same route, for the same price (or less), in much more comfortable planes- even Bamboo was a more pleasant experience and that’s saying something. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
