I love Pure Country, My mom and I watched that So many times when it premiered on HBO, when they stopped airing it she bought the VHS, and then 5 of George Straight's CDs
Thanks Kevin for yet another great informative episode. To be honest we were more than half through and you hadn't mentioned any of the great ladies of country music and I was gonna call you out. All the country stars mentioned did great as actors. Some of my favorite country stars moonlighting as actors are Willie Nelson in 'Honeysuckle Rose', Jerry Reed in 'Smokey and the Bandit', Dwight Yoakem in 'Cry Macho' and LeAnn Rimes in 'Coyote Ugly'. Are you going to do a show going the other way?
Hoyt Axton was a another country singer that acted known for his role in Gremlins 1984. Many people may not know that artists like Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb, Eddy Arnold, Ferlin Husky, Waylon Jennings, Faron Young and Jimmy Wakely, to name a few, starred in numerous films from the 1940s into the 1970s, creating a long list of country stars who acted.
Great episode. But what about country singers Johnny Cash , John Schneider both of them were in stagecoach. And Toby Keith had two movies Broken bridges and Beer for my horses.
Johnny Cash mostly did made for television movies, Some of the films he appeared in include "Five Minutes to Live" (1961), "The Baron and the Kid" (1984), "The Last Days of Frank and Jesse James" (1983), "Murder in Coweta County" (1983), and "A Gunfight" (1971).
Dwight Yoakum was in several movies, most notably for me was "The Newton Boys". Johnny Cash was in a few movies. And Pure Country could/should have been the opening for George Strait, I think he just wasn't interested in it.

So much depends on the responses and views. Lots of views and likes mean I should do more.

Hey Kevin sorry for missing your live stream I was wondering if Johnny Cash did some acting
He did! Johnny had cameos in Little house on the prairie, Columbo, Dr Quinn Medicine woman, and the Simpsons to name a few

Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson both visited Hazzard county
Willie was also on an episode of Monk and King of the Hill
Oh Just recalled Dwight Yokum, was in a couple movies, like Sling Blade.
"French Fired pataters"
Yep. He's also a great actor.
I will be here. This should be fun.
I recall both Faith Hill and Tim McGraw appearing on an episode or two of Jeff Foxworthy's sitcom.. the second one.. I think
Randy Travis was good in movies. Travis Tritt, Willie Nelson, and (although he was the narrator) Waylon Jennings was good.

Johnny Cash June Carter Cash
What about Toby Keith he plays in one of my favorite movies called broken Bridges
Jennifer Aniston
I tend to prefer Ray Stevens cover of Sunday Morning coming down.
Clint Black has done a little acting.
Johnny and June Carter Cash
Willie Nelson
Waylon Jennings, so all of The Highwaymen.
June was classically trained in acting. Was riveting in Robert Duvall's The Apostle. Which also features a scene-stealing Billy Joe Shaver.
