The batteries have a smart discharge feature that discharges down to 60% (I think it was) if they are not used for some number of days to preserve battery health at optimal charge for long term. I wonder if that is what you were experiencing?

Maybe, my experience so far is they discharge after a couple of days and quickly down to zero.
