I am a guitarist, who recently crushed my wrist in a motorcycle accident. For the six months which I am unable to play my instrument, I have turned to the harmonica. This video and the teachings of this young lady are the best that I have run across on the Internet. Thank you very much!
Christelle your accent is lovely, You are the only person that has finally explained how to bend notes. playing and being able to teach what you are playing are two different skills, and you have both of them. Thank you for this excellent lesson. I send you best wishes.
Just watch your video... Just started to play the Harmonica a few weeks ago and i'm 78 years old.. I love the challenge. Don't worry about your accent you do great! That goes with being French! Thank you again..
Christelle, thank you so much! I started learning harmonica 4 months ago, and learning how to bend had been elusive for me. Your "sucking water from a straw" analogy did it for me! I immediately got it and was able to hit all the 3 draw bends immediately!! So much frustration trying to figure out what to do with my tongue, and all of the sudden, the light bulb came on for me. Thank you!!
Je souffle dans un l'harmonica depuis 60 ans et je peux dire que je n'ai jamais entendu des pareilles beaux sons joués par une artiste comme vous bravo Christelle. Un ptit cousin du Québec :O)
I am not a Harmonica player but I need to listen you until the end. You are a great person and your explaining is a real pleasure to me. You are a very good musican. Thanks a lot.
Loving the lesson videos. And i agree u should never have to apologize for the accent and your English is fine. I understood you just fine and found your lesson easy to understand. And i have a hard time with instruction videos. Keep up the amazing playing and thank you so much for sharing.
Your accent is perfect, your French. I’m just a beginner but I know greatness when I hear it! We are better community because of our differences! Thanks.
Bon jour, Madame. I think it is not necessary to apologise for your accent for the simple reason that the French accent is oh la la, wonderful to hear! And your harp playing is the best!
Great video for a beginner like me, and please dont apologize for your accent, I think your english is pretty good and I am glad that you give the non-french speakers the option to learn from you too!
Thank you Christelle, very much. I have been able to bend notes for a while, I can make silly noises with my harmonica, mama or help me or choo choo trains of all types. BUT I have never really known WHAT I should be achieving, now I know because of your help. I will carry on with my silly noises BUT now I will also try to control those extra notes. Thanks again and please don't apologise for your accent, it is wonderful and certainly makes one pay attention.
We should be buying CD's and concert tickets to see and hear this woman perform. Instead we get what the music industry of today shoves down our throats. Rap and Dropped D tuning so called music has pretty much rendered the youth of today tone deaf. This lady is truly a musician and plays from her soul. That she takes the time to teach the masses is icing on the cake. BRAVO!!
ENFIN!!! Ton petit voyage dans le voyage est tout simplement génial. J'avais tout essayer sans résultat. Quelque fois, le truc le plus simple est le meilleur. Bisou du Québec. MERCI!
you are amazing and perfect, i used to play as a child and now want to learn again.you are an amazing player, i have watched many of you videos tonight. thank you
Christelle- I re-watched this lesson, playing along with it and found it to be very helpful. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation and sounds!
Excellent video Christelle .. thank you, you already said everything that you wanted to say in French, English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu and all the languages in the world but with your music. You are so good!
This is a joke. This is the only video that can properly explain how to bend a note. Millions of thanks to you. I am following your song for a good while but this is the first time to find this video of yours. I am really happy as a beginner harmonica player who were not able to learn to bend a note for a long time. Merci beaucoup :)
To hell with people who mind your accent. They're fools. I love it and your command of the English language is remarkably good. A delight to listen to your voice as well as your harmonica playing.
I think your English is excellent..but your harp playing if even better. Like the person before I have been listening to you for a while, but only just found this page. I think in a couple of months, I'll be able to afford a few lessons. Right now things are tight. But, you have helped me a lot already. I can play along with you, though not like you..miss a lot of your flourishes. But I find following along with someone is much easier than trying to read harp tabs..I can intuit where to go, to blow or draw, much better than I can when reading tabs..and it's just a lot more fun. Thanks for all your free stuff on youtube. Keep up the great videos and never apologize for your English...so much better than my French.
I swear this is the best video. I tried many approaches but only yours helped me creat my first glissando. It's working on the low g-note well. Not so well on the higher notes just yet. But it's lots of fun! Thanks
Hi Christelle! As far as I'm concerned, you need not apologize for your accent! The information you're sharing is so interesting, your accent only makes it more interesting as I listen! You are a gifted musician, so any inconvenience on our part as listeners, is irrelevant in relation to what we can learn! Thank you for going to the trouble of making these instruction videos!
Don't apologize for your accent ... I understood you just fine. This has been very informative and I see I have a lot of work ahead of me. You play wonderfully.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I have been trying and trying with little consistency and you have given me the gift of consistent bending. I can't thank you enough!
Oh please, I'm jealous of your accent. My native language is Brazilian Portuguese and we just love out there hearing you, French speakers, speaking our language with your delightful accent. No apology necessary! My apologies for being jealous...
I have to say...I have watched a lot bending-teach videos both in Chinese and English...but the amazing moment only happens just a few seconds ago.... THANK YOU...begin with hole 6 then 5, 4 and 1, but still have trouble with hole 2 and 3
What an amazing tone and sound you get from the harp... been playing for two years. I can play every bend easilly with good control very naturally now, but i'm so far away from that perfect tone you put in every note... amazing. my respect to you.
You look simply amazing. You are my new harmonica guru. I never heard it played so well not bluesy but you have a way of making it more of its own instrument. Meaning it don't sound just like blues or particular anything. This is how I would like to play the harmonica. This coming from watching a few of your videos christelle. Thank you. I hope to see more of what you play as well as instruction. I'll bet you have the most beautiful personality at peace with most things .
Christelle....Did I just see a video of you playing a middle-eastern song on facebook. I can't find it now but it was beautiful. And thank you for helping us beginner harp players.
Muchas gracias Christelle! Este vídeo es una ayuda ideal para usuarios de nivel intermedio a dar ese empujón que necesita y la motivación para llevar la armónica al siguiente nivel. Admirable. Saludos, que sigas bien.
Wow thanks! I've watched loads of videos on here, some by harmonica legends, some by good teachers, all talk about bending by tongue position, jaw position, etc. I just wasn't getting it, then I found you and your drinking analogy, suddenly I can bend. Thank you so much.
why apologise for a French accent. French is the language of love and one of the world's most beautiful languages. carry on with your fantastic accent so we can enjoy listening.
Merci Christelle ! d'une pierre 2 coups ! je travaille mon anglais et j'apprends l'Harmonica ! merci pour ta disponibilité . et tes competences ! Pierre de Balirustique
I love your accent, and really appreciate your teaching videos. They are excellent. I think I will finally be able to bend notes! By the way,you are one of the best players I've heard. Thank you for the music.
Thank you, my bends aren't precise. But I now have a structured exercise to practice. Bending to precise notes is very hard. I (u tongue block) and I have to practice the pucker tech more, to gets better bends. I can normally with u blocking get the first half step but no more. Puckering and re-positioning the tongue I have more success. But need to practice to hit single notes well. I love your playing, and your interpretation of the songs you play.
A wonderful analogy for bending, I learnt using the E,O technique. Breathe in making an E sound and then change that sound to an O whilst still breathing in. The action your tongue makes is the basis of bending. From there it was just a case of playing with the action whilst playing the harmonica to find the sweet spots and the HBs etc. The only trouble I'm finding is muscle memory, my tongue almost automatically enters a bend now when I draw, sounds wonderful at first but gets boring quickly, everything I play sounds very similar to each other. Another fantastic video. :)
just came across you videos. your video on how to bend and then the exercises video are simply outstanding! Thank you. my 2 draw is improving though I find it easy to go directly to F missing F#. I am sure that it is a control issue. thanks
This is great! I've watched countless videos about bending notes and hasn't been able to make any change in the pitch yet. Until now! I mean, it sounded awful but the pitch did change. (Then I think I lost it, watched the explanation again, got it again, and lost it again xD But at I know it's there and I'll keep practicing!) Thank you so much!!
Don’t ever apologize for your accent !!! My wife and I are from Brazil , I have been here 46 years and I lost my accent, she had only been here 6 years abs she had a very sexy accent ! Your accent is very sexy if I may say so! Don’t apologize . Americans have NO accent ! LOL . Greet artist you are !! Bon jour
You don't need to apologize for a thing! You probably could not understand my French if you heard me speaking it. I'm a lot worse than you ever could be. thanks for the tutorial it was really interesting.
I am a guitarist, who recently crushed my wrist in a motorcycle accident. For the six months which I am unable to play my instrument, I have turned to the harmonica. This video and the teachings of this young lady are the best that I have run across on the Internet. Thank you very much!
No apology needed. I could understand you perfectly. Even if I couldn't it would be my fault for being ignorant. Thank you for the video.
Christelle your accent is lovely, You are the only person that has finally explained how to bend notes. playing and being able to teach what you are playing are two different skills, and you have both of them. Thank you for this excellent lesson. I send you best wishes.

Loving the lesson videos. And i agree u should never have to apologize for the accent and your English is fine. I understood you just fine and found your lesson easy to understand. And i have a hard time with instruction videos. Keep up the amazing playing and thank you so much for sharing.
