Even though they forgot the lights--she looked beautiful half-lit or with the sun on her-----her pose with her hands holding the upper back of her chair is sublime
I just saw her in Fahrenheit 451, a wonderful, disturbing movie I recommend. I have a friend who is still in touch with Julie and speaks very well of her. She was a casting agent and found Julie fine to work with.
The chair was in Dr. Zhivago; the one Omar Sharif is sitting in at Varykino , about 10 minutes from the end of the film. Ms. C must have taken a fancy to it!
She has made wonderful movies since 1960s: DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, DARLING, FAHRENHEIT 451, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD, PETULIA, THE GO-BETWEEN, DON'T LOOK NOW, AWAY FROM HER.
I agree. I see little point in people ranting about someone in a very old piece of footage when life and awareness was so different then, They didn't know the extent of the danger in those days so I wish people would shut up about it. It's from 1967 for pity's sake.
Plus people were still driving around without safety belts and crash helmets and expectant mothers still thought nothing about having alcohol. These were very different times and people should realise that.
She isn't even really smoking. She takes a drag and blows it out. That isn't a smoker. That's someone who has a cigarette in their hand because it was cool at the time.
fntime Ordinary? This iconoclastic woman was anything but ordinary - this was a casual, laid back dialogue, not supposed to be some academic, college lecture. She represented a new kind of womanhood, on screen and off but it was all with a genuinely modest quality that you see here. (3/7/19)
permaveg She's an incredibly intelligent person and always has been. This was just a casual, laid back chat with simple questions and answers. Does every interview have to be filled with convoluted, complex answers and responses? She's more than proven she's got a lot going on between her ears.

The way she answers the questions reminds me so much of David Bowie.

Julie Christie is so beautiful and even more so smoking her cigarette!
The end looks like a scene from a movie or photoshoot
@fntime because we like to look at them..but, you've got a point.
@stardustalways you call smoking classy?
She sure new how to smoke in a frank Sinatra movie
What Frank Sinatra movie?
Intelligent, articulate, RP., a quivering bottom lip. Blimey!
Why is we always listen to beautiful women. If you listen to the
interview without looking at Julie, she seems quite ordinary.

i thought the same haha
more like shes nervous
Looks a little like Angie Dickinson here.
I gained nothing from that interview apart from she didn't have much going on between her ears, she was pretty and a good actress, but there it ends.

You can't get everything about a person from one short interview
She narrated Garbo biography, they are quite alike
