I love seeing Bdubs rubbing off on everyone’s building skills. High tides raise all ships
2:29 Not a mission. Cub sued her. Pearl complied 😂. Cub dropped the lawsuit.
I think Pearl also got a mission which gave her an extra reason to do what she was already going to do for malicious compliance against Cubfan.
"I never considered myself a builder"
I may not be a professional in the field, but dude, you made some magnificent bases in your hermitcraft series and I really strive for your level of creativity :)
The jungle buildings in season 7 are probably my favorite ones!
I like X and Etho's builds because they are distinctly theirs. They both have a unique style of building.
I can easily point out either of their build styles, and I think that's cooler than following the major trends.
@@emerald_archermumbo's bases from the previous seasons also all had this quality about them, which I found very amusing
The wasteland from season 2 will always be my favorite. The grind it had to take to with the limits of Minecraft at the time is insane. The nostalgia is hitting hard rn 😂
The purple of the Nether portal really adds to the palette.
Yes it does!
Tbh since the shopping district is a lot more spread out this season I actually like the idea of having a south portal too
Yeah but to use it as an Out AND an In then it would need to be raised up like 15 blocks to avoid the Postal System below.
Oh, I just noticed the XP bar getting close to the episode number. Now that would be a cool easter egg!
Yeah, but he surpassed it to 1319.
Can I just say that X is always so wonderfully engaged with the chat in his twitch streams? Also he must have the most friendly mods as well. I dare anyone to find a more engaging hermit stream.
It's no surprise he's so popular. ❤
X is my favorite hermit.
"I never consider myself a builder"
bro casually built up the server
Mumbo: NOT ENOUGH REDSTONE, TOO MANY BUILDS
Grian: TOO MUCH REDSTONE, NOT ENOUGH BUILDS
Xisuma: Chill out guys just watch the pro at work
To be fair, lately Mumbo's been working on builds and Grian on redstone
I doubt you need to put down other hermits to praise X, he's already great just the way he is and has been pretty balanced for a while anyway
@@65591 think you misunderstood the message. he's commenting about how in one of mumbo's recent episodes he said that he was building too much ("TOO MANY BUILDS") and not doing enough redstone ("NOT ENOUGH REDSTONE") and grian did the opposite
he's not dissing them, he's quoting them
@@resonae17 Hm i get what you mean, sorry for misunderstanding then, and glad it was fine
I do think the "watch the pro" part could imply they can't balance both though
Anyway, thank you for the reply, take care
Sorry if this comment made anyone feel bad, I was just trying to be funny and didn’t mean to make any of the creators feel bad.
@@65591 its just that usually mumbo does redstone and little building and grian does lots of building with little to no redstone. It is remarkable though how well Mumbo has gotten at building and how fast Grian is progressing in redstone (by making secret entrances, farms etc.)
4:13 that transition was SMOOTH. Great work as always xisuma
I know Bdubs has done 'build inspections' to guide other hermits to elevating their builds, or even just seeing them from a different perspective. Is love to see his reaction to this build bc it reminds me so much of his style. Well, color-wise that is.
Great build, and cool furnace design, keep it up, X! (:
"build inspection"? i think you mean "Bdubs Suck Fest"
(tm)
While I agree that you used some fantastic gradient and color-work in general, I think the portal build is lacking in visible purpose: It's not integrated into its surroundings, both build-wise and narratively. It kind of just stands there without a visible reason. Maybe you could come up with some szorybeat that then inspires a way to add some more detail to it, to make it look lived-in and used. So far, it's kind of like a nice-looking non-descript Lego-Set in an empty room.
Thats very constructive. Thank you, great feedback! :-)
Also giving kudos to what is such a great example of constructive criticism
Anther thing i think you should is almost have set zones for these portals @xisumavoid
@@xisumavoidoverall beautiful
@@xisumavoid
I disagree. I don't know if every build needs to be cluttered with needless details. There is something to be said about the starkly imposing nature of this biuld. I think it's beautiful the way it is.
Simply elegant.
only started watching this season, but easily my favourite hermit now, here early every time 😀
same :)
@Harrisonablett9379 I would watch season 6 and 7 and season 9 so backup on which hermits got on and the death of one.mr. X has video on him second channel. Love content since season 6 when grian got add to hermitcarft.
did you see the Hermitcraft Recaps suggestion to use zombies and make it look like the copper golems are moving around in the shop? It sounded really cool.
"Never considered building one of his strengths." Yeah right man, you're incredible! That's one thing every Hermit has in common, building!
Skizzleman would like to talk… 😂
He seems to be improving though which is cool! I always loved his comedy/role-playing over his building styles though haha
Pearls malicious compliance wasnt a Mission Possible Mission, it was in response to Cubfan attempting to sue her over not having built the portal after all this time. Just so yah know.
In the past week, I’ve binge watched your whole season ten and Grian’s season ten series, and doing this has really helped me to understand color palettes and red stones whole lot more. It’s an amazing build X!
Oh I LOVE the glow at nighttime. The soft orange windows make it look like warm lighting coming from inside the building, it looks so magical! Reeeeally pleasing colours. I disagree with the people saying it lacks detail. I think the simplicity of the shapes is part of the charm! It has enough details in the block variations already, adding shape details on top of that would cause pixel fatigue.
I really like how you showed the build process for your new build, rather than just a timelapse. It looks awesome!
the build pallet, the way the portal compliments the build, the faint glow on parts of the walls... beautiful. you've made something amazing again, xisuma!
I love it when you build in the episodes, I think you’re a really great builder! And this build came out awesome !! It looks really good with the copper bulbs especially
Guys dont forget to report the bots 👍
@@shaundavies3227 trust me you can tell.
They usually talk about child/animal abuse and other wonderful stuff
Sounds like a bot thing to say 🤨🤔
@@Pepcen I’ve never seen them talk about child abuse. For me it’s always the generic looking female model pic avatars that steal legitimate comments and get other bots to upvote it to the top. Then they always get a bunch of replies from people who are utterly obviously that they are replying to a damn bot.
Considering some bots just copy comments that have lots of likes we’re not that far from this being used by bots too
Posted within the first 10 minutes? I smell a bot 🧐
the oxidized copper gives a otherworldly look and love the false machicolations at the top, supernatural spooky fantasy Castle keeps is underappreciated dare I say a rare build style, Great night vibes
My thoughts on the Portal build... the block palette is great, the building layout is great, everything is great tbh... The only things that are maybe missing are some texture-y details on the outside of the building itself (feels a bit too 'smooth' and 'flat' and 'perfect' at the moment - maybe the sparse use of warped buttons here and there to add some texture/depth? or something like that), and the environmental details surrounding the build... If you sort those two things out, the build will be elevated to an even higher level, which is saying something because it looks great already... nice one X!!
Hey X, props for discovering a building process that you mesh with! I know how satisfying that can be. I have a suggestion! you're using worldedit, and I've also used worldedit for a long time. I highly recommend adding the Axiom mod to your toolbelt. I find it's really useful for building at a small-medium scale. It allows you to stack, copy, paste, build with symmetry, erase, etc, in a very intuitive and fast visual manner. It also has a really powerful painting mode that's honestly way too overwhelming, I really haven't messed with it much. It also has some good features like replaceblock mode, placing in mid-air, flying through blocks, etc. It isn't a replacement, because there's still a bunch of stuff that I prefer doing/can only do using worldedit.
The only feedback I can think of really is just keep learning any and all design principles. It'll apply to anything remotely creative you do in your life, and MC building I think is a good medium to learn it through. Learning it thru photography is kinda how I was introduced to a lot of them, even though I don't really do photography.
Fcççcç
That building is one of the most beautiful ones ive ever seen, that color palette is amazing. 10/10, insanely beautiful
I think the roof needs a pop of color, maybe some kind of flag or banner, but apart from that it's really cool!
I love the nether portrait! It's imposing and beautiful. It really looks like a castle from a Disney movie.
20:57 crenels, or crenelated parapets/battlements, crenels are the "squares" parapets/battlements are the combination of all the crenels and adjoining blocks
the blocks are called merlons :)
I love the cyan castle, it's so cute!! Such a great build for the purple nether portal, and the lights at night definitely bring it to the next level, and it was interesting to see your thought processes as you get more deliberate about building - I've never thought of you as not being a builder, your bases are always lovely, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next if you want to focus more on building and learning about building going forward!!
Mumbo: it's actually quite simple
Grian: so I did just an easy building
X: you see I'm not very good at building
A thing i always tell people when they start Minecraft is to never dig up copper because it’ll became an addiction
If the night time is your favorite view of the shop you could force a permanent night time effect with a large tinted glass roof near build limit. Etho had done this in a prior season over Shade-E-E's
I love this build so much! I wasn't so sure about chiseled copper, but how you use it has really turned me around! You're builds are so impressive and I love watching the process!
Well done! The block palette you picked worked so well together and it looks soooooo good! In the right scene…..it could totally and easily turned into a spooky castle!!!! But it looks so great! And it is perfect as a structure!! To tie it in with Tango and Ren’s builds and that area you could throw on some copper bits and bobs. I struggle with adding “texture” to builds because sometimes it looks sooo “pixelated” up close, but even when you went up close the gradient went smoothly and tastefully together! Well done!
X your versatility in Minecraft is so impressive. You’ve become such a good builder and your amazing redstone projects are so entertaining to watch!
Very nice result XSwamy - can't wait to see it after the vegetation is done.
Also - perhaps consider varying the crennelations at the top? By having a slightly different style, each tower will show a distinct identity.
I often feel bad abt my building but i find looking back on rlly old builds allows me to see how amazing i am and how much i could change and improve.
Youre an amazing builder X and an inspiration
I really love the light that comes out of the building at night!
that blue looking building is on another level. an epic eye catcher
The explanation of your building process is awesome, and it's almost exactly how I approach it. The only main difference is that I try to blend squares, rectangles, ovals, and circles for the floorplan. I also think about the rooflines and the various shapes they will make as I'm laying out the floorplan, which helps me figure out how they will mesh.
And, for the record, I don't usually build stuff in creative first and prefer to do everything in survival. It takes longer, and it means accepting the moments when I have to tear something down and redo it. But, for me at least, it's a really fun way to build. And I'm known as an amazing builder, so people don't have to do the creative mode thing first to make builds.
Love the nether portal build. Great texturing and block shading. The features at the top are called crenelations and are made of merlons (the uprights) and crenels (the gaps).
I love when people build with copper. It’s one of my favorite pallets. I agree I think you need more environmental details but I love it!
The portal looks like it belongs in Disney! Good job, X
Aside from the entire industrial revolution in Loglands- still blowing my mind- the portal is so lovely! The alterations in pallette between each tower, and how it adds to the shape of the build is
It looks great!! Would love to hear the story behind it, like it's purpose and history! Because of that aqua colour, I get an under water feel from it(which, I love underwater aesthetics so that's a compliment!).
That thumbnail grabbed my attention, I've made the exact same build on my world lol. Saw the design on Pinterest and wanted to make it as well. Had to double take for a second when I saw my own build on your thumbnail.
I just wanted to have it mentioned how amazed and impressed I am by X casually consistently dropping one wonderful episode after another, each one with great genius Redstone or beautiful buildings or funny interactions without being a dramatic banger but collected and calm and consistent. It just gives me a feeling of reliability and trust and like he's truly the mind and spine and strong shoulders of this server
If i remember correctly, Scar has the same issue, or kind of the same issue with the portals, and he with Cub discovered that if you enter in the portal about y:68 you will go to the nether top, if you enter bellow, you will go to the mail portal system
I enjoyed that you showed us the process of how you designed your build.
The build looks fantastic! Really enjoy how you take us behind the scenes and show your thought process for the build and redstone contraptions too
This build is stunning, as soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew I wanted to watch this video!
your build style is always so recognizably you and I love seeing it grow to be more beautiful throughout each season. love this build, but your rooted dirt shop still competes for the top spot for me!
Using actual walls mixed with blocks is a great idea to add texture. I'm going to have to remember that!
This reminds me of an aquarium castle. if you were to decorate the outside, something mimicking giant coral with bright warm colors would be pleasant and attract the eye to your build. The Sculk shop is next door. Adding sculk in the terrain would bring some good cohesion to the area too.
I really love the gradient of the copper, it's such a smooth transition all the way. If I were to criticize one thing though, it would be that it doesn't really blend in with the rest of the builds nearby. The castle is very fantasy-like whilst it's also beside a bulldozer and crane. To give an example of tying things together, Ren has talked about how he built his crane to tie the surroundings together such as the colour palette with Tango's redstone shop and the crane to give the area the industrial feel (Rendog episode 30, 19:45).
I absolutely love the shape and profile of the building though so if you could make the roof darker, add industrial stuff to it to make it look more steampunk/repurposed, or make the building a little more worn down like it was there before everything else moved in then it would blend in better. See BDub's huge industrial temple build in season 9 (episode The Ultimate Minecraft Base! 11:40). Gah, it's so nice as is that I would feel bad changing any of it. It just isn't in the right area.
The build is obviusly very good, the overall layout is great, it creates dept and viual interest, but mainly when viewed from a distance. When you get up close, the fact that all the walls are flat deteriorates the experience of viewing the build. This can be mended by either detailing the walls, by building vegetation around the build to cover up the flatness, or by texturing in a way that looks more 3d, utilizing harsh contrast.
The color of the copper is nice, and I don't think covering the build in detail is gonna make a lot of sense, so the vegetation option, I'd vager, is the best bet for making the build really pop.
Since the bottom and the top of the build are essentially the same, you can cover up the bottom, while still being able to see the nice layout and color. A thick forrest that covers up the lower part of the build, and makes the top peak out from the canopy, would give the build a sense of mystery, and trotting through the forest to get to it would give a sense of discovery. It would also make the build feel bigger and more grandiose, as to view the entirety of any of the walls, you'd have to get close to them. (Which is all just a suggestion and something to think about).
But honestly the most important thing about this build is the process that lies behind it, building up the skeleton to get a good shape, and really thinking about how to utilize a block pallet are very useful tools to have as a builder, and are tools that get better with practice, so I'm really looking forward to seeing those skills develop even further, and for you to keep making new best builds ever.
With the new portal in place, i think there is some sort of "Copper Corner" in this part of the shopping district because of the shops tango, ren, and you build.
I love that you showed your processes and mistakes. Great video as always
Reminds me of the season 9 horse course! I would personally add a lot more exposed copper, to me it’s just a mass of teal, maybe try defining each building with the exposed copper and then filling in the areas that would likely receive more rain water with weathered and oxidized copper
This is such a cool redstone project, it's always these kinda videos that get me loading up minecraft again.
I absolutely LOVE this build. It is a great color palate and the way it lights up at night is amazing! I will try, and fail, to copy you!!
The Castle Nether portal design is great and I agree with the Different light levels with the Copper Bulbs. Very creative I like it.
It was really fun to watch you think and bring us along for the ride in your creative processes and problem solving situations. That really makes me want pay attention and I found it really fun to watch! The building looks epic! The texturing and the different colours were perfect. The way you placed those different towers was great! My only remark would be that that one side, iirc in the direction of the centre of the shopping district, looks a bit flat. I would try to give it some more detail here and there just to break up the flatness of it.
The build’s texturing and gradient is genuinely some of the best I’ve seen… and i watch bdubs! It just feels a bit unfinished overall without much detailing. Still beautifully done :)
The depth variation with the walls on the creative example was really cool
I love the build Xisuma!
The colors are truly magical together, and the style is really unique and creative. Never really seen anything like it!
I really like that build. For me, personally, though there could be more contrast between the different towers, maybe the exposed copper would work, but still, it looks marvellous. It's great to see how far you've come as a builder
Just FYI the bits at the top of the castle are crenelations and in medieval England you had to have a "licence to crenellate". Perhaps you need to speak to the Permit Office about this build?
Maybe, but so far, the permit office looks like it has just been for business licences
X, the shapes at the top of castles have a name:
MACHICOLATIONS!!!
That really is an absolutely stunning build. A castle fortification that any King would be hono(u)red to call their own. What *can't* this legend do?
For making the charcoal, consider using said charcoal as fuel for making the charcoal instead of burning logs for fuel.
Well done on the log -> charcoal system. That's such a smart setup and somehow visually pleasing! I will do it in my world as well
THAT LOOKS SO NICE???? oh my GOD i love how the gradient goes up and stuff and the bulbs work so well with the build . holy crap
My brain went off when you started with the redstone, but the build is beautiful! The texturing is amazing. I love it!
One thing Bdubs has been doing is incorporating different textures that create the illusion of shadow. Some of those inside corners could use that trick!
I love it. You are the best overall Hermit. You really are! I always enjoy your videos and how you teach and inspire us.❤😊
Ironically the delayed double pulse for the collection Hopper Minecart sending a second Hopper Minecart is actually great. When you think about it servers sometimes suck and struggle for a few seconds and sometimes the furnaces can get out of sync, so the second Hopper Minecart is fantastic as a back up prevention system to keep things clear if the server has a mini stroke.
Hiya! Your build is beautiful with the glow, and colors. It's only going to get better with landscape and interior added. Thank you X!
That build is EPIC Xisuma! You’re an amazing builder!!
I see X is using some things he learened previous season. I love watchin Xisuma because you can see how his play evolves over time.
I love how proud he is with this build 🥹
Your builds have always been great, X.
That being said, this build is definitely on the top 5 of your builds for me!
Props on discovering an awesome new build process, the portal build looks dope especially in its texture and structure, one thing I think could make it look even better would be adding some more contrasting block to the build, the tuff is a good start but it kinda has the same green under-tones as the copper, maybe try adding something even more different as a trim or in the details!
Great build! I’ve been all about the cyan-green building too. It’s en vogue. Also nice to see how proud you are of it!
the nether portal towers you've built has given me vibes from a Spyro the dragon level, I can't remember the name of said level but it just does
love it! what about adding some basalt and other black rocky blocks as a base for the building? I think it would help make the greens and oranges pop more
that build looks really cool!
I love the texturing that you did Beautiful and when it lights up at night Wow Fantastic!!!
The whole build is Gorgeous You are definitely a Builder!!!
I've love to see the new build with lower brightness settings too, see how much atmosphere it has with more atmospheric lighting. (Like Bdubs' 30.)
Now that's something. Beautiful build X, I'm amazed at your skill this season. The energy you put into your episode...outstanding.
I’ve been trying to get better at texturing, and that build is an awesome Reference for what I’m going for!
Absolutely killed it! 😎
I love the new build! I’m always biased to colorful builds, I think you balanced the colors really well so it’s not too overwhelming and still natural looking!
3:50 Despite the name of it, the NetherPortalFix mod doesn't actually fix a Vanilla bug. There is no Vanilla bug to fix. The mod even still uses the 1:8 ratio from Vanilla Minecraft.
All the mod does is remember 'pairs' of portals once you step through one, rather than basing everything off of pure math. Vanilla portals are not bugged, math is just hard.
Installing it would not actually move your destination to the roof; Etho's chunk loaders would still be closer, so those are the two it would pair for you. (Unless you started on the roof of the Nether. Then the mod would break normal Vanilla mechanics and cause the Vanilla portal to take you to the roof. Possibly only once. Probably only for you.)
Taking a quick glance at the code, it appears to save these pairs *per player*. Which means different players would end up with different behavior, depending on which portal they used first, further confusing the issue.
Without seeing the coordinates involved, I can't help more than that, but the simple fact is that (unless y'all are already changing portal behavior with mods) your Overworld nether portal *destination* coordinate IS closer to Etho's chunk loaders than the portal on the roof. As others have said, the problem is likely the Y level. Your portal is probably aiming to a location far enough below the roof that the chunk loaders in the Nether are closer than the area over the roof.
I'm loving your copper focus! I will agree the Copper Cathedral maybe needs something either natural (booshes, that piña colada is a token for a free stack of booshes) or something to complement the purple of the portal on or around the sides to complete the look. It truly is a beautiful build though and even though I've been here only a season, I refuse to hear "I'm not a builder", look at what you've accomplished!
That's a great build X, however since back when you did Tag HQ in season 6 that was when I got a schock and i've considered you a top tier builder ever since. This is just more greatness :)
Lovely build, and I like your clear communication and use of world edit to generate a clear structure efficiently. I completely agree with next steps of seating the build in the environment and putting some trees etc around it to give some less angular shapes and of different heights around it. I think another thing is the development of gradients from being one thing at the bottoms fading to the top, which is how they started, but then the linearity of this gradient also catches the eye and while there is this movement in the real world it is more complicated than that. It is hard to do (and not something that I would claim to be able to do myself) however looking at adjusting your gradient not just from a single source (bottom to top) but from other sources of lightening or darkening. For example, rather than a straight gradient at the base, it would be darker in the corner of where the turrets meet, so would extend up the sides. it may be a touch lighter around the windows. These small adjustments break the uniformity of that gradient and add complexity, interest and realism to it. Go have a look at some Bdubs builds (commensurate master that he is) as to how his gradients are also adjusted into corners and natural sources of light and dark.
Great build! Absolutely love your build at night with the lighting.
If you have a permit, you could use the interior.
Or maybe it could also be a house of yours
love the build! i think its absolutely perfect with one caveat; its quite flat and lacks depth in the physical sense. i think it could be elevated with some window framing and stuff that juts out from the frame-otherwise i LOVE it
