This Got Dangerous at 100ft! Removing a Dead Tree

- In this video we are removing a large fir tree in the pacific northwest. The tree has a dead top in it. The tree is dying and has to be removed before it becomes more dangerous. We used ziplining or speedlining to remove the limbs. This helped with the clean up. We felled the top out at over 100ft! The drop zone was very small. I used a Stihl ms261 and Stihl MS500i to chunk the tree out. I also used a Stihl MS881 for ground cutting. That was fun. The goal of this video is for you guys to start seeing more of our personalities. We're all getting more comfortable camera which helps with this. Let me know what you guys think in the comments and please like and subscribe!

I'm watching on my tablet and I am retired in Florida. I flew jumbo jets internationally and got to see the world with my own eyes. Retired at age 69.
Haha, thanks for the info! Wish more people told me about themselves. I'll have to bring that up in a video!
That 881 is dying a painful death!!! Take it to the doctor unless you guys know how to tune it. Seriously, you’re doing damage running it like that.
😬 👍 I'll have to get it tuned!
Enjoyed the video. Very nice work.....and entertaining. Excellent speed lining. Safe two line climbing. Kudos to the ground crew....way to down a pizza while enjoying watching the hard working climber.😉😉 Your videos have really improved. Nice camera work....good commentary from you all. A1
Awesome! Ya, im trying new camera angles. There were two angles I've never seen before while chunking out the wood. One shot I put the camera on my flip line, the other shot was looking down on me while running the 500i.
Never change stay the same ! It’s awesome to see a normal not big headed self righteous dude just having fun with awesome Groundies and learning every day! great job keep safe 💪 oh word of advice ….it’s not cooking with oil…. here in the uk we say “yeehah now we’re sucking diesel boyyy “ 🤣🤣 love the videos favourite new channel 💪🌳🌲
Haha. Sucking diesel? Geez, you guys are wild!
Hey Tim what kind watch ⌚️ was that I'm 67 and it was very nice tells temp also send me name of it I did check on that hand rope gear you mentioned it's 100.00 thanks I appreciate it from Don
Eric is wearing a apple watch. Mine does the same thing, it's a Samsung watch. The best part about them is I can see who's texting, calling and emailing me without having to look at my phone.
I subscribed! I’m a new climber and am trying to learn as much as I can. I have books as well. But I was curious do you trust a spar anchor? For it not to slip down the tree? And also with your shots up the tree how do you know a limb won’t break or snap? When you blind shoot it
Look into a trash can called “catchy” it has a beveled top to be able to scoop debris into it…..
I have been landscaping for years and was pretty upset when I bought one….. I thought to myself maaan I can’t believe I have gone 7 years and just walked by these things at the turf store, anyways I enjoy your videos, I’m actually getting to the tree service myself. Stay safe up there
Catchy cans are great!
Almost got me some of that rain gear! great vid! "pull up here BOOOAAY" lol
Nice work! What program do you use to edit?
That free CapCut. 😀 My kids introduced it to me. They were on UA-cam first.
nice jobs guys
Hello. Good job, BUT I have a question. In several of your videos it seems to me that you tie the branches away from the trunk of the tree....which is strange to me! We all know that it is best if it is tied as close as possible to the place where we will cut. However, you remain 50-60-70 cm, which is a prerequisite for the moment you cut the branch, the small back part to go up. There are quite a few videos of similar incidents and colleagues being hit. My question is, why leave such a long distance when you know what will happen? Thanks.
If the carabiner is too close to the cut point, it could slip off the limb. I think that's what you're asking about.
if the reason is that the carabiner doesn't come out ... just make another round of the tree. Is the 10 second delay against the tree coming at you worth it? Greetings.

@@spwoodbulgaria that could work. 👍
OMG Guys! Tune that 881! great job fellers
Ya, I was hoping someone would say that. I didn't think it was running right.
Pohon yang sangat tinggi serta di samping rumah, selalu berhati hati salam satu propesi.
Those a wicked jackets.
Ya. Really cool someone gifted those to us!
That's one of my fave rigging ropes for speedline or medium rigging. HTP 10 MM. Light weight and strong.
I really like it too
Even the branches are having fun zip lining down the tree 🥳
🙂 So fun.
I like the Christmas tree line. Beautiful State, perhaps the best in the country.
👍
They could have at least sent up a piece of pizza up when getting zipline slings back up in tree
Amen brother. There's a Short on my channel with them sending me pizza. 😆
Yes, it is exciting work. Even more so, at age 68. Nice work.
Impressive
This is actually insane
When resetting your speed line, how do you climb through all those branches? It would be cool to see how you do it. Do you just throw your climb line?
Ya, I throw my climb line and alternate that with the flip line.
"I'm not an adrenaline junkie" - a man 100 feet high in a dead tree. Lol man i dont know how you can do this job and then say you're not an adrenaline junkie 😂
🤷♂️ maybe you're right.
Love your rain gear! Great job as always!
Man i love you video's its just so interesting to wacth and hype, man keep it up i love ittt

What is wrong with that 881? It sounds like it has a cold or asthma:)
IKR! I'ma take it to the doctor soon.
Awesome job brother

@@wesshank3546 we did. Check out my channel!!
You ever find your way out of the misty PNW and down to Sunny NorCal…I’ve gotta couple poles you can climb. 😂 Miss you boys!
Lol. I'm not climbing any of your poles. Glad you're watching now!
HEADACHE 🤕 😂 good work men 💪
I watch two channels on trimming trees. Both of you have the biggest cahonies I have ever seen. Makes me nervous to get on top of my single story house.
Cool. What other channel do you watch?
Guilty of treason

Thanks Jon
Thank you so much for these videos they are pretty entertaining thanks and I love your co workers they are so funny and yourself!
Glad you're enjoying them.
Another great video. Whats the odds of that carabiner hooking that little nub? Love the channel. Also, just wondering if you sell any of your Veteran Tree Service shirts
Thanks. Ya, I've never had a carabineer hook a nub like that. I've considered selling the shirts, I'm just waiting on more demand. 👍
How do we get into this business?
Either start with a local tree service or learn to climb and cut and start your own business.
@@VeteranTreeService what should beginners buy
Turned out to be blue sky. Nice job staying focused
Ya, focus was key after being up all night!
Do you think that tree was good enough to negative rig the top out
Ya, I probably could have rigged a small top.
Just being I’m not super confident how accurate I could drop a top yet. I appreciate your replies man, I’m just getting into this business after doing concrete most of my life. Kind of dumb question but do your ground guys have a preferred rake to use
@@NateGrabar We use Razerback. It's the best quality we can get locally (home Depot, tractor supply)
Great video!!!! Respect for the editing and camera angles.
Thanks!
Nice rain jackets keep up the hard work and awesome video's
Thanks man. Will do
The branch zipline is so satisfying
Yep
“That’s what my wife said last night.” 😉

@@VeteranTreeService I just found you guys. I’ve been watching guilty “Jacob” for some time now. I’ll call you on your set up comments from Tennessee. Lol
Be safe bud. I enjoy what y’all do. I really want to try it, but me and heights don’t mesh well. I grew up in the woods and cut my first eastern when I was 9 with a stihl 029. My grandfather was a logger.
@@Unknownuser_1954 Good to have you. I've worked with Jacob a couple times.
Great job..are you selling any of your t-shirts that you're wearing....love one for my collection 😊😊
No. But one day I might start selling them. 👍

Thanks Jeff! It was a fun tree. I'm a little nervous about tomorrow's job though. Falling some big trees right next to a garage and house. 🫣😬
@@VeteranTreeService you got it buddy
What sthil chainsaw would you recommend I could upgrade to from a zomax chainsaw 😁
I would say a 462 my opinion.
What do you cut
I really like the ms261 for a medium saw.
Cool rain gear. Great work with the zippin to chipper. Awesome dead top.
