It is one of the fastest-growing cities in Asia and the largest city in Malaysia, covering an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) with a census population of 1,982,112 as of 2020. Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.564 million people as of 2018.It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in Southeast Asia, both in population and economic development.
The city serves as the cultural, financial, and economic centre of Malaysia. It is also home to the Parliament of Malaysia and the Istana Negara, the official residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (monarch of Malaysia). Kuala Lumpur first developed around 1857 as a town serving the tin mines of the region and served as the capital of Selangor from 1880 until 1978. Kuala Lumpur was the founding capital of the Federation of Malaya and its successor, Malaysia. The city remained the seat of the executive and judicial branches of the Malaysian federal government until these were relocated to Putrajaya in early 1999. However, some sections of the political bodies still remain in Kuala Lumpur. The city is one of the three federal territories of Malaysia,[10] enclaved within the state of Selangor, on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia

KL ni tak macam Dubai...Dubai tanah rata...sebab tu bangunan tinggi nampak lah obvious tinggi dia...walaupun cuma 100 meter tinggi....kl ni dibina dalam lembah....tanah ada yg dikelilingi bukit gunung semua....sbab tu bangunan tinggi nmpak rendah....

Even I'm a Malaysian and love my country and I do like KL, but to claim 'Kuala Lumpur is the best city in the world' still can be questioned as to be the best city not just the amount of skyscrapers..but also other parameters. Even the facilities and infrastructures in KL are still need a lot of improvement;
1- Pedestrian pathways still not that friendly with many uneven level, broken tiles, holes and not interlinked..and most suffered are disabled users (OKUs), parents with baby strollers
2- Some traffic lights are not working, and zebra crossing? Just forget it! Motorists not that bother with pedestrians that crossing the road and it can be dangerous...and motorcyclists? Even nightmare.
3- Cleanliness still need to be improved mostly in the back alleys, and many restaurants or food stalls are still managing poorly the food waste, big rats and other pests are still easily can be spotted
4- Greenery and public spaces; KL is already green compared to other big cities but most open spaces in KL are not interlinked like other cities, KL need to have more pocket gardens where can be access easily within walking distance
5- Many heritage and old buildings are still not well preserved, some left rotten and decayed and have been demolished to replace with typical high buildings that can be founded at any big cities. Some those historical buildings eg. Sultan Abdul Samad or KL Railway Station you can still see wild plants grown on the building without proper maintenance
6- Need to have more diverse attractions and activities for KLites, locals and tourists in the city as for now, KL doesn't have much things to see and do compared to other big cities of our neighbouring countries
The list still on going... however KL is still have potential to be 'ONE OF THE BEST cities to live in the world' one day!
