It’s more of a sign of an insecurity if you can’t be questioned, and you expect to be adhered to like some master or expert. Which, by the way, is a trait of delusions of grandeur, which is also a trait of narcissism.
Coming from somone insecure in there own feelings jims philosphy is proven over time to work . Also be willing to be jim lifts more then you . I know i do an i use 531 forever suck on that
@@heveyweightheveyweight5399 wait are you saying that literally any form of progressive overload in resistance training is proven to work? 🤣 of course it is silly, but that doesn’t mean a program like 5/3/1 is the most efficient or cannot be questioned.
@@MrAwsealwhether or not it is sufficient is surely up for a debate as there’s no one size fits all program. What works best for me may not work the best for you. But why anyone would question 5/3/1 is beyond me. You said it yourself - progressive overload works…for everyone.
@@Faronator do you fully appreciate what progress overload is? Progressive overload doesn’t mean to simply just add weight. You can progressively overload by adding repetitions. You can progressively overload by reducing rest periods. And you can progressively overload by increasing speed. You can progressively overload by increasing time under tension. So, although yes, progressive overload works for everyone there’s so many different ways to go about it that that is why it is not unreasonable, nor is it not warranted to ask questions. But if you have the hesitation or feel that one shouldn’t question then that is the problem. 5/3/1 is a very basic generalized program designed for the general population so why would anyone get irritated by being questioned about it? 5/3/1 is not for elite athletes, it’s not even specific to any sport. So when people become so dogmatic in 5/3/1 it’s a huge red flag.
Honestly I love his attitude. I have been reading 5/3/1 and I get why people like this guy. Very simple, no-nonsense stuff. And it only goes to show here: all the comments are internet kids saying “ACTUALLY” lol
Depends on the question or point and the people having the debate and the reason. Maybe it’s the lack of backing the point being made and articulating it. Just because your JIm Wendler or someone doesn’t instantly make you right and the other person insecure. Sometimes there’s multiple right answers. Or it’s in combination with two or more things. Or figuring out the right way to go. Often the person making the point isn’t listening to the other person. And vice versa is true too. Many things go into a debate to just give a sweeping answer is a bit glib.
The comments are way off base here. Jim’s point is he knows what works and with his resume and achievements he feels like he doesn’t need to debate some little ass clowns on why or why not something is effective. You can either listen to his advice or not he’s not gonna waste energy debating people cause he believes in his system. And if someone doesn’t think calisthenics work, then why are there tons of guys who are dip freaks who go and bench 300 pounds their first time on the bench. I wouldn’t waste my breathe debating these people either, don’t do it then lol
Jim has a good perspective on simply providing the answer, but his refusal to justify or persuade seems off to me. That said, the person disagreeing with him is unlikely to know more than him. His anecdotes don’t reflect an argument against someone who is quoting Brad Shoenfeld. 😂
I think what he means is in the instance that someone is coming to him, or by proxy of having him train their kid, for his expertise and advice, it doesn’t make sense to come to him and at the same time try and debate with him. It’s like me being a mechanic, someone bringing their car to me, me diagnosing the issue and providing a solution that will produce results, and then the person wanting to debate with me about what the issue and result is.
@@Pbpally if someone is letting him train their kid, he is not considered a god of training the same way that the person who paid for 531 Forever thinks of him. It is normal for people to challenge alleged experts. I strongly doubt Jim would let someone risk his own kids future without asking a question. I think Jim would do well arguing the point and just use the same arguments. Unfortunately, he will become another Rippetoe who can’t enunciate his position against fierce opposition.
Gee, I kinda think explaining things- why someone should do something a certain way, how it works, etc- is a key function of coaching.

Their is nothing wrong with debating
Interesting comments here. It's like ppl don't know the difference between explaining and debating

He is talking arguing training protocols….not life in general
