The Assist Prime Minister was GLEEFUL at the freedom to use the powers of the act, freezing bank accounts, etc. and gave NO indication that they would limit their use of those powers for x purpose/time period, etc. She was obnoxious about it, as was Trudeau, in a GROSS ABUSE of power. The truckers protest in the city was legal - the capitol police answered in a press conference - why haven't you arrested them - his response - they haven't broken any laws. So, every time they tried to catch them on something (removed trashcans so they could say they were littering - then the truckers put out trash bags and collected trash in that zone/removed it from the area - they had to change the rules/laws to trip them up; Truduea hid for at least 2 weeks under TWO different claims that he was "exposed" to someone with Covid - not sick himself, just exposed- to avoid meeting with the Truckers. Canada has state sponsored news channel so they just repeated VERBATIM whatever Trudeau said, which included calling the truckers white supremacists, etc. BEFORE THEY ARRIVED so that local citizens would not listen to them - then they showed up and you see there were a wide range of ages/ethnicities/faiths represented by the drivers protesting the AUTHORITARIAN overreach of CA government leaders.
It was a peaceful get together in support of the truckers, and against the mandates. Not only did people who donated get their accounts closed, before they could use any of the donated funds the CA government and GoFundMe wouldn’t release the money to the truckers. After they started using an alternative, GiveSendGo, that they couldn’t control like GFM, they decided to close the accounts
Thanks to the Canadian Constitution Foundation for taking this to court. Economic strife was not in the emergency act. Tucker was already coming to Alberta and not in response to the Justice Mosley findings. Wrong, Briahna.

There is a difference between the truckers protesting something happening to them and people protesting about something thats happening on the other side of the world and has nothing to do with their country
In 2020 during the Pipeline Protests, Trudeau said he preferred to use dialogue resolution instead of getting the police involved. That was a standard that applied to a group of people that were likely his base, that he was sympathetic with. With the convoy, he made no attempt at all to dialogue and favored divisive incendiary rhetoric like calling them names. At that time he said that dissenters "took up space" and asked whether society should "tolerate" them. Language that would normally come from an authoritarian. He then resorted to using measures that hadn't been used in decades. The federal judge who made the ruling is the same one who said the Canadian government breached Omar Khadr's rights. At that time Trudeau did not appeal the decision, and paid Khadr out roughly $10 million. In this instance he sent out Freeland to appeal it immediately. In the past he has said "A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian" when discussing islamic terrorists being deported.. But with convoy members, he questions whether they should be tolerated. All this is to say that Justin Trudeau is a borderline sociopath who openly holds and uses two different standards: those he is aligned with, and those he is not.

They pulled the trigger because they were losing face with the business class who were threatening to pull their investments out of Canada. This was not about overt threats from the convoy. This was purely economic. They were being financially embarrassed on the global stage.
The Canadian truck protest, was a static contained small 4 block area that could easily be walked around or traversed by vehicle delaying an individual by a minute by talking the next street over. Blocking a highway or major artery in or out of downtown or to block an area that is unknown to oncoming traffic with no exits available, backing up traffic or snarling traffic for miles essentially imprisoning citizens for hours is illegal and should not be compared. It is non-sensical and is not a comparison.

Plus I think Briahna is referring to complaints about Gaza protests (and others) designed to deliberately block traffic, while the trucker protest, which may have been disruptive, did not have that explicit intent. An honorable government would resign.
Actually Brihana, the truckers parked where the police had set aside spaces for them. They didnt block anything since they had given plenty of notice they were coming. Peter Sloly showed this in the early days of the protest.
Yup. Which is very different than what the Gaza/Hamas protesters are doing. The entire tenor/tone of the two groups protesting, completely different. The truckers were standing up to a Canadian government policy/revoking of personal rights that were under direct control of the said government. The police here in Canada are handling the Gaza protesters with respectful kid-gloves....not so for the trucker protesters, one who literally trampled by a horse, others beaten, thrown in jail, bank accounts frozen....it's incredibly disingenuous for Bri to even put the two in the same category. Apparently Justin Trudeau doesn't think Canada has free speech .
