Proverbs 16.25 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way to death”. As children of God, our faith should grow stronger and stronger everyday but that faith grows only in adversity and that is when we will experience the love of God. At that time, we should strictly obey to see the hand of God. The Bible tells us that if we obey and do all what God says, we will receive the blessings of God but if we live in disobedience, we will definitely have curses in our life. Matthew 6.19- 21 Jesus said, “Do not lay up treasure for yourself on earth as rust and moth will destroy and thieves break in and steal but lay up for yourself treasure in heaven for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be “. Jesus used treasure to represent something we consider more important than any ordinary thing. It is something that we eagerly work for and is achievable. Because of a man’s perception of its value his treasure can move into action but most of us are not attracted to spiritual blessings because believers don’t understand the value of that treasure.
It is a commandment for us to make treasure in heaven. God is a rewarder of those who seek him. God will render to each one according to his works and he is looking into every heart. True believers of Christ not only acquire treasure on earth but also in heaven. The innermost affection of our heart is our treasure. We should spend enough time with God to make treasure in heaven by studying the word, prayer and worship. We need the deposit of holiness of character, obedience to every commandment, souls won for Christ, discipling believers, giving our tithe for god’s work and gratefulness. We need to accumulate character including the way we live before God and people. How we treat others matters. We are called to do good works for the profit of others. When we give life to others, we get life and that is our deposit of treasure in heaven. We have to be purposeful to make treasure in heaven. We should work for others through our prayers and encouragement. If our souls are not cultivated and if the fruit of spirit and ministry are not growing in us and we are not caring for each other, then we are not making any spiritual treasure. Your contribution to other souls is your treasure. Our minds constantly think on what we value the most. We should think on how to love others and how to have joy and peace. No one can serve two masters. He will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and money. God ought to be the one and only master of your life. You determine your master and your master will command. When money and materialism are your God, you are backed up with some demonic power and curses will follow you definitely. Many believers are sinking in sadness because they have no treasure in heaven. All our spiritual blessings come to pass when we have treasure in heaven.
